Hey Molly - really interesting! I have a super sensitive nose - I bought a mountain dulcimer that is made well but 20 years old and smelled musty, which I couldn’t tolerate. I bought small sachets of cedar chips from Amazon and tied them into the sound holes. I changed them out every day (new cedar sachet into the holes each day) for a week. Then the next week I filled the sachets with charcoal (the kind used in a small aquarium) and did the same thing. Repeated both cedar and charcoal for as long as it took to almost eliminate the mustiness. If you keep the lyre you might wanna try that. PM me if you want pics. The dulcimer came in a fabric gig bag which I never got the odor out of (washed it, laid it out in the sun, etc) so I threw it away 🙁. You might not wanna put the lyre back in that case 😂

Wow! That is really cool. I can't say I've ever seen one of those before. I love the way they did that with the bridge. Great find!

I had the same thought process when researching the Lyre, Looks great, but what if there was a chromatic one? This is a beautiful looking instrument, may have to look into a similar style for myself!

Hello! I have a pentatonic tongue drum and am having a really hard time finding songs to play. I saw your last video but I was wondering if you could make another one for me? Thanks!!

i feel like the audio at first was good, not until you changed it for the preview of the lyre, just a little advise, maybe keep the same type of mic as the first part of the vid because it sounds way cleaner imo. still enjoyed the video though

Molly you always make my day. One question how many strings does it have?

Who made it Molly! I have one by Gaertner from Germany. You play the minor strings with left hand on the back.

I don't know! I need to do some research on the shape and style because there's no signature or anything. Thanks for the playing tip!
