I like your videos Jason. The music. The way you explain. I keep on coming back to these Ikea cabinet videos. Thank you
Thanks so much. I really appreciate the encouragement. 👍
This series is informative and also crazy well done. Love the music, the scenery shots, and all the attention to detail with the artful camera angles. A lot of time and attention went into this and you deserve all the views!
Thanks so much. I try to make all our videos as interesting as possible. Which can be tough with this subject matter and some videos get waaaaayyy more views than others. Lol. I appreciate your kind words more than you know. Thanks so much for watching.
Great progress. World’s most mellow IKEA assembly soundtrack.
Lol. Amanda said it almost put her to sleep.
You were awesome. Thank you. I’m so happy I watched the video!
Thanks so much. Glad I could help.
Loved watching this.. It's therapeutic!
Thanks so much! If you need more therapy just run through the rest of our videos. Can’t hurt, right?
Awesome video. Lots of great details explained ! Thank you.
Thank you for watching 👍
Great vid. And thanks for putting the music in the description. Love it
I appreciate it. Thank you for watching.
Dude, you are killing it. Keep making videos they are great.
Thanks so much
Thank you very much for this fantastic video. You have inspired me to install my own IKEA Sektion system which I bought for my Bedroom closer system. I decided to use the Sektion because I couldn't get the Pax ones. I really appreciate your videos, you are fabulous!
Thank you so much. Glad I could help. Good luck on your project 👍
well done, the only thing I'd consider is sealing the cut edges for protection against occasional wet cleaning but perhaps the risk is low enough to not require it.
Very well done tutorial. 👏. We fitted an Ikea kitchen 2/3 months ago. Can't praise the cabinet hanging bar enough. A child could do it.
Also the hinges were super easy and the soft close realy put a great finishing touch to the kitchen. Well done, wish i had come across your tutorial before i installed kitchen 😅
Thank you. Glad your project turned out well. Sorry I didn’t get to you in time. Lol. 👍
Your's is the only video I've watched that shows which direction to install the part of the hinge that attaches to inside of the cabinet. A detail that's been driving me crazy. Ty.
So glad I could help. Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks.. Very helpful. Subscribed. 👍
Husband and I about to do this in a few weeks. Your videos are an awesome help and actually fooling us into doing this ourselves 🙊
Hahaha. Glad I could help. Hope your kitchen turns out awesome. Thanks so much for watching.
OMG the power of Internet is incredible! I’m living in Poland (small country in the middle of Europe) and I was looking for some tips before installing IKEA kitchen - and then - RUclips came to me with Your detailed video tutotials! I love them! Now I can save few hundreds bucks installing IKEA kitchen by myself… Thank You!
Oh wow. Thanks so much for watching. Glad I could help and good luck on your kitchen. 👍
@1:59 the exact bit of information I came for, to level the metal rail or the cupboards, thank you.
You’re welcome. Glad I could help 👍
Its crazy that you dont have more subscribers ! Amazing job, and the camera work... Incredible !
Cheers from France ;)
Thank you very much. That means a lot. And thank you so much for watching. Vive la France!!😀
I’m studying to install my kitchen my self and I’m a bit intimidated by the job. This video is the best I’ve seen so far. Good job ! Thank you. Let’ya know 😅
Thanks so much. Good luck with your project 👍
Watched all three parts of your excellent IKEA kitchen install series. Great solo installer tips like using a trolley to move cabinets around; made mine from an 'appliance mover' and a scrap piece of 1/2" plywood to slide in corner placement tower unit. Worked like a dream.
Thanks you. I’m glad to hear it was helpful on your install. Thanks so much for watching.
Assembling our ikea kitchen (Lerhyttan with butcher block counter top) had to be the most relaxing thing I have done in a long time. It's like Legos, for adults. 😂
It’s my favorite part of building or remodeling a home. 👍
@@MDCHOMES 100%. I was so disappointed when it was done...lol
Bravo!!
Thanks so much.
I would have liked to hear the info on the new vs old. I'm dealing with old ones and need to get new!
Thanks for the great series.
Why wouldn’t you install the drawer slides in the bottom cabinets at the time of assembly? Another way to save your back.
Hmm. I guess primarily bc I never thought of it. Lol. Good idea though. IKEA includes the slides with the drawers and I guess I never think about them during cabinet assembly only during drawer assembly. With some preplanning though that probably would make things easier. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion.👍
Wish youd show the double hinge door in theblazy susan cabinet in detail. Kts giving me trouble. I suspect i havent gottsn the right hinges.
What color did you get? Is that the Enkoping Walnut effect?
Question: The IKEA wall cabinets look easy enough to install. If I wanted to hang an over the stove microwave under a cabinet, is this rail system strong enough to support the weight of the microwave?
Yeah no problem. If installed into the studs this rail will easily support it. Just imagine how much a large cabinet full of dishes weighs. I believe they should have a cabinet set up for this specific situation. Good luck with your project 👍
Hi there! Thank you sooo much for recording your process. I snapped the wrong door front to the drawer base. Do you know if there’s a way to take it apart after I snapped the door front to the drawer?
Haha. I’ve done that too. Luckily there is an easy fix. If you look into the side of the rail where the drawer bracket inserted…you can see a release. Turn the Phillips head screw and drawer front will release. Thanks for watching!
Hi can you show how to adjust hinges please
You bet. Got a video coming soon that will cover it. 👍
Hello, nice series and useful explanations. But I am missing the assembly of the kitchen worktop (part 4?). And in the mean time I saw that you finished your home.
Thanks so much for watching. We didn’t use an ikea worktop for this kitchen so I didn’t include it’s installation in the series just to keep this one only ikea. Sorry about that. We’ll use an ikea top in a future kitchen and I’ll make a point to film its installation. 👍
@@MDCHOMES Thanks for that answer (from Belgium) !
Thanks for the great video!!! I was wondering what king of hinge do you have to put to attach the 2 corner doors together? I ordered my IKEA kitchen and they didn't give me the right hinge. There's 4 types of hinge at IKEA 153, 110, 95 and 45 degres... Which one should I buy? Thank in advance for the answer ;)
Hmmm. I’m not 100% but I believe the part of the hinge that connects the doors together came with the cabinet hardware. You’ll need the 153 to connect it to the cabinet but the hinges between the doors I believe is with the screws, dowels, mounting hardware, etc that you used for cabinet construction. Again I’m not 100% but I think I remember them with that hardware. Hope this helps.
How do you know the height to put your slides??
Looks like start at bottom, rail bottom hole
Then next track one hole above the top of the draw front??
Great question. IKEA gives you a diagram with different drawer heights and placements in cabinets. Refer to the diagram for which drawer type you are installing and it will give you the screw location for height as well as front to back. I believe the diagram is included with the drawer slides. Hope that helps.
hi I have knoxhult base cabinets, can I use the rail to install?
I don’t think so. If I remember correctly those don’t have the mounting brackets that hook onto rail or the adjustable legs. It’s been awhile…but i think those just mount directly to wall.
Jason, at 13:10, your statement about the base cabinets cover panels, do they apply to all the different SEKTION base cabinets?
I believe so. From what I’ve seen all the base cabinets have the same dimensions on the sides. But if there is an exception I’m sure another viewer will shout it out before long. Lol.
What hardware do you have to buy? Does it come with screws to attach the cabinets to each other and to attach the cover panels?
Yes all those screws are included. Only additional hardware i purchased were the anchor bolts to attach rails where needed.
Great video!!
How long did your whole project take? How many days?
This one took way longer bc I filmed it. That slows down the process quite a bit. Typically on a kitchen this size I can build the cabinets in a day then it’ll take me 2-3 days to get everything installed. Just depends on complexity of design. 👍
Valid. Thank you. I have a customer asking me for a price to assemble and install… been doing this quite awhile but not an IKEA kitchen yet!!
Seems like a steady methodical approach should prove successful.
Thank you for responding and making these videos!
Cheers!
Great video, as ever. Just curious: I wandered aimlessly into healthcare after being pretty sure I could make a living writing drop D riffs; what were you gonna be before being a contractor happened to you? Keep the videos coming!
Good question. I’ve had grand visions at different times in my life of being a rock star, film maker, writer, and architect. Often ending with me having to swallow the painful pill of realizing that my ambition had far exceeded my talents. Not dead yet though I guess...👍
We all start in Drop D.. but eventually all good stoner bands turn to drop C
Is there a filler piece between your dishwasher and sink cabinet or does the dishwasher butt up to the cabinet? It’s hard to tell on my 3d and 2d. Thanks.
No filler in this particular kitchen. It sits right next to sink.
@@MDCHOMES Okay. Designer just said mine is designed to have a filler that finished panel installed for extra frame support because we are installing a farm house sink.
I believe ikea has a specific cabinet for farmhouse sinks for the extra support. I’m sure your designer has already verified all that though. Good luck with your project 👍
@@MDCHOMES I am guessing that because ikea did the design and I did not, I don’t have the tools on my computer that I have seen on RUclips. Asking them tomorrow. Also, I didn’t get a parts manifest. My designer said everything is on my plan on the website. Hiding and showing in the 3d just removes the entire cabinet and hardware so I’m in the dark right now. Do you know what the difference is between the 20 and 50 drawer slides? I had to go higher one hole for the top drawer and lower one hole for the bottom drawer. The On has red plastic inside it and the other black? Thanks.
What is the set back spacing of the hinge locking piece?
All the hinge holes are predrilled for you. The hinges are adjustable in multiple directions to get desired fit on door.
@@MDCHOMES No, im replacing older ikea hinges. The new ones are different. The older ones are on a horizontal screw pattern, the new ones are on vertical.
do you put legs on back or just the front?
I only do the front. The back is leveled and supported by the rail. 👍
how many legs have you installed in corner base cabinet?
I believe 2 in each.👍
Many thanks for the reply.👍
Are you installing a backsplash?
On this one we didn’t. House actually sold before we had a chance. Lol. Here’s the finished product.

13:48 🤔 ...2 drawers in 1? Wondering why...
I think it’s more of an aesthetic than functionality thing. You get an extra drawer without making the front of cabinet look as busy. 🤷♂️
Can you use ikea door fronts as cabinet doors?
I’m not sure I understand the question. Do you mean use them for cabinets other than ikea’s?
@@MDCHOMES Was wondering if you can modify Ikea drawer fronts so they can be used as Ikea cabinet doors? To me they seem to look the same but just might have different holes you have to drill. The situation for me is that Ikea has discontinued the style of cabinets but I can find drawer fronts on ebay. Was researching if there is a way to use those drawer fronts, modify them so they are cabinet doors so the end result would visually be the same style I have in the rest of the kitchen.
If you’re handy at woodworking I’d say it’s definitely possible. Just need a forstner drill bit the same size as the ikea hinge insert. Best of luck with your project. 👍
Where's part 4??
m.ruclips.net/video/ITwZKhye-VU/видео.html
@@MDCHOMES Great job!
So ??? Where is the finished product ??
Lol. Coming soon I promise. Those 2 glass doors are still on back order from IKEA. Soon as we pop those on I’ll do a full house tour including kitchen. Thanks for watching!
At 2:03, you did not predrill. I have seen some ppl do it. Why didn't you?
Hmmm. Good question. I usually pre drill to make setting screws easier. In this instance I used the predrilled holes on one side that ikea had made and just allowed the screw to do the work going into the second cabinet. I suppose if you had problems getting screw to go into second cabinet you could pre drill it too. Mine just went in without much struggle. Thanks for the question and for watching!
@@MDCHOMES what size screw do you use to join the cabinets?
I’m not certain on size. These I used came with cabinets.
When are you guys going to go metric 100% better😀
Lol. I remember them trying to switch us over when I was in elementary school. Just didn’t take. Getting people to change is tough. Old dogs, new tricks etc.
Thanks.. Very helpful.Subscribed.👍
Thank you. Glad I could help.
