Serato stems Man it's gotta be a great time to be a young producer. I couldn't imagine being a kid and just discovering the beatmaking game and the modern technology and not having much responsibility and time to just get lost in it 👍
1991 i put 100$ on equipment with 3 friends. I thought the 4-track was gonna separate the records into drums, vocals, instruments, so we could sample... Nope. Haha. Now it's finally reality
@@coreyano facts bruh, we started decades ago (1995 for me) . I've stayed current as far as equipment but man sometimes I like to sit back and appreciate the leaps in technology .
I love watching the old-school producers who make something so complex look easy because they're building the song in their head as they go. The tools are an (amazing) assist but the human is what makes it real. So smooth.
yeah I'm lost with people labeling oldschool everything older than two weeks, to me De la soul and Gang starr ended oldschool era back around 89-91 and anything past that time is not oldschool to me, but I guess I'm oldschool
It's those little nuances like the chromatic sweep up and down and the FX he adds that really bring the overall composition feel like a place in a different world. This is one of my favorites for sure
This might be the best one! He followed the directions 100% even with it being the luck of the draw he used all 3 selections because he has a musical foundation and an ear for music. I think all the OGs are dangerous on here. They focus on the groove more than trying to find a hit and end up making a hit. It's inspiring as a producer to see that. Beat makers just know everything is music, all sounds are an instrument that you can incorporate into your own style/genre. Arrangements, levels, panning are your friends if something you feel doesn't need to take the lead they can be your back up singers or ad-libs.
3:56 What on earth is this VST plugin !!!!??? I'm usually not much of a vst geek anymore, I feel like less is more but THIS sounds like gold and is worth having. Anybody?
Khalil is dope he's so talented. I remember hearing his xzibit and strong arm steady skills from like 20 years ago. Cool to have him back on another video
I remember first listening to Self Scientific the Self Science back in 2002. I had the album on cd. Have not able to find it on vinyl anywhere. This last weekend went to this record store in chicago that i have not been to in a long time and thier it was in the hip hop section. I still cant believe i finally found it 2 decades later.😊
DJ Khalil, I mean what can you say? Absolute greatness of a producer. Side note, I hope Serato plans on releasing a Stems plugin. I don't want to have to buy Serato Studio just to use it.
Absolutely beautiful musical talent with excellent finger precision, it's the formula for superb HIP HOP, please, DON'T STOP!!, you are gifted and talented 👍👍💯💥❤
Man really produced for *Celine Dion* 🕊️ to *Nipsey Hussle* 🏁to *Kanye West* 🐻 . He gave us the soundscapes to KRIT's bass extravaganza *Aux Cord* , Clipse' classic freestyle essential *Kinda Like A Big Deal* , Logic/Wiz's nugget of smoke joints in *Indica Badu* & Cole's career defining verse on *Johnny P's Caddy* ... just to list a very few from countless many ... If anyone were to resurrect Detox to life, it would be this guy. 💀
The filter stems sounded very clean. Wow. That is nuts! Did he even layer drums on top of the drum loop or just turned the loop all the way up and added compression?
Dope episode, fam killed it. That Serato Stems feature is a game changer 🔥🔥🔥 Big up's DJ Khalil.........I'd love to see 88-keys get another episode. He got robbed on the first one lol
perfect beat to kick the Kendrick/Cole album off!!!! Wish that project would actually happen....it would probably even be better than Watch The Throne I'm sure!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🕊✌🏼😁🧘🏻♂
Honestly, the stem technolgy whatever platform/software you use isn't artefact free, it still sounds very underwatery. I don't know why people are losing their minds over it there's still a long way to go.
Might not be high quality but for me it makes making beats easier without trying to filter out frequencies. I like extracting vocals so you know there will be clean without any drums

Yup. This is the one. Drums bass vocal chops, 3 different songs. Khalil makes it look effortless when it really isn’t. Thank you for this.

"old school" fam he was active in the 00s into the 10s and still collecting credits. what is old school to you?
I wouldn't call him old school, because he's proficient with older and modern gear and techniques.
Old school? He’s literally using the newest DAW on the market 😂
You got grown men in their feelings over the simple label of "Old School". 😂 Lay off the Soy fellas.

we really really REALLY need a beat album with all music created within RR - could easily be a double album ! Mass Appeal: WHEN ? 🙂🙃🙂
would be nice but that's a lot of bread to clear all them samples
