If you don't know him yet, Gene Brown is basically the go-to person for producers when it comes to finding specific samples. He's been hired by Premier, Q-Tip, Kanye and many others. Picking records randomly out of his van for Rhythm Roulette is basically a walk in the park. Man's a legend. Not like we have anything to worry about when it comes to Dahi either.
They do. You would have to, had been in/around the industry at the time to know this. A lot of stuff has occurred in hip hop that hasn't hit the internet.
That "super rare brazilian joint" is Secos e Molhados, a legendary proto-brazilian rock band from the 70s.The album sampled is "A Volta de Secos & Molhados" made in 1977.
bmck3nney maybe but when I get into talks about producers and musical influences he rarely comes up. He's a name not many know but students of the game know.
bmck3nney it depends on your influences etc. For example I’ve heard his name and know of some of his records but just informed myself even more today hence me watching the video. But this man’s a beast. From Kendrick to Rihanna childish etc due vrazy
that's just what you do when you have a sample loaded up with your favorite control at the helm.. you've never done this before - it's not special it's rather easy - as DJ Mark the 45 King would say.. it's just luck to even be noticed in this scene.
When he looks up in frustration @4:24 I felt that 😭 Thought I was The only one. You start to see these videos and realize you aren’t the only producer that goes through certain motions 😂😂
Yeah not bad but I did want to know why they chose that particular piece of software - as it doesn't appear to be anything special and he seemed to be a bit stumped at first there was a big edit from him staring at the screen like 'what do I do now'..maybe that was the first day he used it.
Mass Appeal, you need to get three or something producers to sample the same 3 records and then get them to show what they have at the end.... And get MF Doom on here already
I'm all for getting new producers on this series but multiple episodes from previously featured producers is just fine with me as well. I'll never get tired of this series
Estou assistindo aqui do Brasil, foi uma surpresa e tanto quando começou a tocar Rosa de Hiroshima do Ney Matogrosso. Nessas horas sempre me vem a confirmação do quão vasto é o nosso berço cultural, e o quão respeita é nossa música lá fora. Trabalho incrível, parabéns.
So I've been trying to see all the different instruments/plugins/effects that Dahi's using other than Serato Sample and here's what I found so far..let me know what else I may have missed: -Glue Compressor on Serato Sample - 4:29 -Cthulhu by Xfer midi notes being routed to Keyscape by Spectrasonics - 5:04 -Arturia CS-80 V2 - 5:35 -Trilian by Spectrasonics - 8:34 -Drum Loops from Splice - 9:33 -Also not fully sure of what it's called, but I think he just has an intstrument rack with chain selector that allows him to quickly navigate through all his drum loops - 11:03
Hands down my favorite new generation producer, he reminds me of timbaland not in style but maybe kinda in ideology, they always make something different every fucking time, its like everytime they make a beat they never reuse anything that sounds similar to what they made before, its like back to the scratch board start from scratch every single time.
Aaron A. Dubz Person random sample selection, gives you the key of the sample, sample stretch built in...have try it to know. I was apart of beta. It's out now on the Serato site.
"Secos & Molhados" it's the name of the album n band, for the record. It's not a "rare" album, it's pretty popular and recognized as one of the best brazilian records of all time. Nice flip on that, Dahi is a huge talent.
TheTruth Maybe in the US, not here lol. I was kinda mad they doesn't even mentioned the artist when it has a lot of importance in the history of brazilian music.
Man he slid thru some bumpin ass drum loops on that second one. Lolol! Coulda went so many different ways!! Damn, now I’m ready to create! Dahi is a monster. Salute!
I have to find the instrumental for that first beat. My god.. this is my favorite Rhythm Roulette by far. But i have a question.. How is he able to switch through drums like that? Is it like loops? & If it is, do producers just sample drums from vinyls or download them? soundcloud.com/saiintpaul/lngdstnces-prod-by-sadyoungantho

What do you mean dj premier hired him ?? For what ??
MrStaano To find samples
I never heard of premier or other great producers like pete rock etc... hire people to do their digging.
They do. You would have to, had been in/around the industry at the time to know this. A lot of stuff has occurred in hip hop that hasn't hit the internet.
True. Anything before like...2005 really is shrouded in mystery.
That "super rare brazilian joint" is Secos e Molhados, a legendary proto-brazilian rock band from the 70s.The album sampled is "A Volta de Secos & Molhados" made in 1977.
you are a freakin DON... thank you

Dahi is so criminally slept on
how? he produces some of the hottest songs out. I feel like anyone who cares remotely bout producing knows this guy.
bmck3nney maybe but when I get into talks about producers and musical influences he rarely comes up. He's a name not many know but students of the game know.
agreed, his name never even comes up when talking people like kanye, 9th wonder, madlib, but should more. dude is a legend
his name doesnt come up because he's a young nigga but real heads keeps Dahi's name in the mix
bmck3nney it depends on your influences etc. For example I’ve heard his name and know of some of his records but just informed myself even more today hence me watching the video. But this man’s a beast. From Kendrick to Rihanna childish etc due vrazy
bro he literally went thru 6 or 7 ways to flip that 2nd sample till he felt comfortable... and all were bangers... My God he's gifted...
that's just what you do when you have a sample loaded up with your favorite control at the helm.. you've never done this before - it's not special it's rather easy - as DJ Mark the 45 King would say.. it's just luck to even be noticed in this scene.
@@SPINNINGMYWHEELS777 It's not luck. It's skill... Choping a sample is one thing making a dope beat is another.
Drug Dealers Anonymous is a God Level beat!
Ray Orchestra GOD TIER!!!!
even tho this was mostly promotion for serato it was still a good episode. his creative process is tight

Every track this man produces is complete fire, how is he not more recognized.

He feels this. Great session here you've captured.
So much creativity in this guys mind, can really feel it flowing through his work.
When he looks up in frustration @4:24 I felt that 😭 Thought I was The only one. You start to see these videos and realize you aren’t the only producer that goes through certain motions 😂😂
All the time lol
I didn't think this was going to turn out to be anything more than a Serato pitch for 15 minutes. Turned out to be excellent. 👍🏼
Yeah not bad but I did want to know why they chose that particular piece of software - as it doesn't appear to be anything special and he seemed to be a bit stumped at first there was a big edit from him staring at the screen like 'what do I do now'..maybe that was the first day he used it.
Ill take dahi over metro any day
Ray Swank easy

Motivation and Inspiration . That man drums go crazy ! Opened my DAW while watching
Mass Appeal, you need to get three or something producers to sample the same 3 records and then get them to show what they have at the end.... And get MF Doom on here already

I'm all for getting new producers on this series but multiple episodes from previously featured producers is just fine with me as well. I'll never get tired of this series
Such a chill vibe
The bit of sampling, slicing, and experimenting at 3:45 was pure gold
Estou assistindo aqui do Brasil, foi uma surpresa e tanto quando começou a tocar Rosa de Hiroshima do Ney Matogrosso. Nessas horas sempre me vem a confirmação do quão vasto é o nosso berço cultural, e o quão respeita é nossa música lá fora. Trabalho incrível, parabéns.
how he approaches samples is insane, true creator.
Hands down the best producer of this generation
He's becoming one of my favorite producers.
So I've been trying to see all the different instruments/plugins/effects that Dahi's using other than Serato Sample and here's what I found so far..let me know what else I may have missed:
-Glue Compressor on Serato Sample - 4:29
-Cthulhu by Xfer midi notes being routed to Keyscape by Spectrasonics - 5:04
-Arturia CS-80 V2 - 5:35
-Trilian by Spectrasonics - 8:34
-Drum Loops from Splice - 9:33
-Also not fully sure of what it's called, but I think he just has an intstrument rack with chain selector that allows him to quickly navigate through all his drum loops - 11:03
DO NOT SLEEP ON THE CS80

"Secos & Molhados" it's the name of the album n band, for the record. It's not a "rare" album, it's pretty popular and recognized as one of the best brazilian records of all time. Nice flip on that, Dahi is a huge talent.

Sample brasileiro foi sensacional secos e molhados.....
Waited so long for him to get on here FINALLY!

Marc Miller-Nelson he did, he just flipped it incredibly
I mean, as the final beat...
Marc Miller-Nelson yeh that was slapping
I completely agree. That shit was fire!! But he still killed it, imo. Dude is highly skilled.

Nice Serato edition . Just copped Serato Sample ..I know ..better late then never :)
Wish he would have done something with 9:26
Dahi a dope producer... Thats probably the best beat I have heard so far
Hey Mass Appeal, can we see some female producers? Show some love!
for real, that would be sick
they need to work with some new ones, but they have done wondagurl
They need to get Sarah2ill on here. Flipped a couple joints. Dope🔥🔥🔥
Suggest a relevant female producer in the game producing for major artist. Outside of Wondagurl no one comes to mind
