    Not a cosplayer, but like so many of Ginny's videos it's cool to learn about the sort of work that goes into the finished product we see online :)

      Oh my gosh, I'm so glad to hear it's interesting even outside of cosplay circles! ❤️

    Some tips:
    A) Use a RADIO remote not an IR one. That gives more options to hide it
    B) Some modern cams can be remote controlled by a smart phone/tablet, including image review. Can be quite helpful
    C) Burst and continuos AF can be your friend in getting a picture that is in focus and gets a picture with eyes open etc

    Wow the unintentionial humor in this. "Give yourself plenty of time, especially if its your first time" and "go forth and shot yourself....with a camera"
    Humour + Informative Video = My type of videos

    Great tips! I've had to do this for several of my DIY tutorials and it can be so frustrating at times but still so nice because I'm not having to ask someone else to come help me

      There are definitely pros and cons!! I'm a control freak, so I love having total power over my photos, but at the same time, it's much more challenging and it's very easy for things to go wrong.

    One of my favorite tricks I learned with my DSLR is that you can find some confusing, hidden settings that let you change what button focuses your shot so you're not refocusing every time you press the button. It helps for when you're using the timer feature without the remote or you're trying to take a lot of photos fast for a subject whose distance isn't changing much (I used it for concert photography). I just had to look through my manual to change it to a back button focus. 😉

      Kayce Taylor Interesting! But you’d still have to set focus by touching the camera somehow, right? Difficult to do when you’re working solo and you’re also the subject!

      Ginny Di true true. It's still a pain. I finally gave up after leaning back really far, focusing on something near where I'd be positioned, focusing on the ground, making a fake stand-in to focus on, etc. Lol the biggest upside, though, is once it's focused, you don't have to go through all of that every time you try to take a picture.
      As an aside, I'm loving your videos! I saw your IG post and came over to watch your makeup tutorial and now I'm just scrolling through all the videos. I keep finding cosplays that I'm like, "Oh I forgot about that one! I love it!!" 😆

    What kind of camera do you use for your pictures I have a Canon EOS Rebel T6 would that work for this

    • @GinnyDi
      @GinnyDi  5 лет назад

      Yep, a Rebel is a great DSLR for beginners & people on a budget! I know so many cosplayers and photographers who either shoot on a Rebel T6 or started out on one.

      Since she is using a Rebel series Canon ( Mode wheel on the right, the higher end models have it left) - yes

  • @mbr5742
    @mbr5742 4 года назад

    With consumer grade Canons (Rebel/Kiss series) set the picture style to neutral and screen brightness to average. The review pics in the cam uses the picture style so anything but neutral ( or Black/White maybe) messes with review

    That is a great price for a tripod. I had a similar one that cost me considerably more. I would personally, however, look for one a bit taller. I'm a bit close to 21 inches taller than that tripod.

    • @GinnyDi
      @GinnyDi  6 лет назад +1

      Good point, if you're super tall and/or plan on taking a lot of high angle shots, you should look for a tripod that accommodates that! The one I linked is a pretty standard cheap tripod that serves all of my needs fine, but everyone's style is different and that style might demand a specific tripod. :)

      Ginny Di I had a 50 inch tripod, and used it for probably 8 years before I broke it. They are all sorts of useful, just uncomfortable for us abnormally giant types. :-)

      I can only dream of what it would be like to be too tall for things! 😜
