@@vaclavcervinka65 Blue + yellow = green. I have seen a video early in the war where Russians who wanted to show solidarity with ukraine used the colour green.
So in summary both sides wear a variety of uniforms that vary from Ukrainian regular to Russian with a mix of civilian and surplus from a number of different nations. Russians wear red or white armbands or duct tape, but sometimes the armbands of the enemy. Ukrainians wear blue, yellow or green but it’s unclear what each means, except that green are generally not (sometimes are) combat units, except when Chechen fighters wear them.
If they're using electrical tape, blue is used more often than yellow by sparkies, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was therefore easier to get hold of. Pure speculation on my part.
It makes no sense, Red White Blue are the pan-Slavic colors, virtually every Slavic country uses them. It’s not like Putin brought back the Communist flag like Lukashenko, where the Classicalist flag becomes an obvious symbol of opposition (despite Lukashenko’s regime not being Communist, and the fact those who use the Classicalist flag are probably much further left than Lukashenko, who only uses the Communist flag as a symbol of pro-Russian irredentism). The problem in Russia is the regime in place (also a conservative Classicalist regime which, like Lukashenko’s, sometimes uses Communist symbols for irredentist purposes, but does use the Classicalist Russian flag with the pan-Slavic colors), the problem is not the flag.
@@TheLocalLt Many slavic countries don't use red white and blue. Such as: Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Macedonia.
I've seen combat troops, albeit sometimes irregular in kit and uniform, and regulars on green armbands. I presume 1. New standardisation, 3. Better colour for camouflage than bright yellow or blue in the field (even bright green could simulate dappled sunlight) 3. Green is a mix of the Ukraine blue and yellow flag colours anyway.

@cypriotknight V means Vostok = east. This is the army group from Belarus, west from the Dnieper river.

could you maybe make a video on the new Russian opposition flag? it's quite an interesting topic worth spreading
Yes this! ⬆️
Those are police colours. "Opposition" sees them while being shoved in police van.

The channel "Battle Order" did a video on it that sorts it all out quite nicely.
I assumed Z, V and O stood for Zapad, Vostok and Yug (юг)
@@RunawayTrain2502 That doesn't fit either. Not by military district or direction of attack. V was units of the Eastern Military District attacking south. Silver armbands on Russian side is said to be related to Chechen units.
Coming from a Ukrainian: you got the symbols wrong. It's +- certain here that the symbols identify the Russian Axis of attack:
V - forces that attacked Kyiv along the right bank if Dnipro river (you could have seen these forces fighting in Bucha, Irpin, Hostomel, etc.)
O - forces that attacked Kyiv through Sumy and Chernihiv
Z-in-square - these forces were attacking Kharkiv and along the north-eastern side of the Eastern Ukraine in general (Kupyansk, Izyum)
Z - these are forces that attacked Donbass directly and South of Ukraine from Crimea
Yes, sometimes these were spotted in wrong locations but high majority of photos of destroyed vehicles prove the logic behind those symbols that I listed above
Also X and A - almost never seen. But X being Chechens is proven to be wrong: Chechens near Kyiv were seen with V and Chechens near Mariupol - with Z.
It is likely rather an id method for which military districs the units came from
Russians and kadyrov s troops use multicam as well which create big chaos in a fight.
Z doesnt stand for Eastern but for Western military district. "Zapad"
I'm pretty sure that the mysterious V and Z letters of the two Russian invasion groups mean Volodymir Zelensky. It's odd they're not using cyrillic letters in any case. We Europeans are being destroyed by all those conspiring to make this war happen since years ago. The result will be a disaster, even Le Pen is capitalizing in being ambiguously pro-Russian (NATO is so hateful) and may win next sunday's election, what I do not celebrate, mind you, as it's yet another step in the European fascist madness and will lead to yet another war that destroys Europe even more.
In any case Zelensky making endless demands and NATO leaders mostly complying with all that Russophobic nonsense, of which banning the letter Z is just the most iconic point of the iceberg (athletes and artists are being bullied just for being Russian in what amounts to one of the worst pogroms I've seen in Europe ever, the self-destruction or European economy is probably even worse), is something I can't but laugh about.
But also fear a lot: we're being brainwashed into self-destruction at economic and freedom of speech levels. We are becoming Ukraine: the neonazi hell.
