This is a great route. However, for me a silent cab ride just doesn't work. I know there's a reason it's muted but it just takes me out of it. Just my view. Merry Christmas everyone

Hi Paul, we don’t include sound in our videos because we don’t want our drivers to be distracted by the fact their voice is being recorded. At the end of the day, this is somebody’s office and it wouldn’t be appropriate to stick a microphone in it.

@@ScotRail - Another option is to mount a mic (or the GoPro type camera itself) on the outside of the widnscreen. Many other train cab video creators use this option. We then get ambient and track sounds.

Great video Scotrail. With sound it would be nicer but I don't mind it without sound. Nice to remind myself what the line is like after not being on it since 2016

Dear Scotrail/Network Rail (or whoever), if you ever come to repave the platforms at Burntisland, please leave that yellow sploge of paint there, it's kind of a landmark.

I would be more interesting if you added where lines that converge and diverge go to. Not much trouble for me though as I consult my rail Atlas. Just a thought, as some viewers don't know the areas. Otherwise great video. All the best for 2021.

Nice video but sound is really essential. I know that unwanted driver conversations are an issue but surely a driver could keep quiet long enough to make the video.

Playing "Train in the distance" by Paul Simon, and "I love the sound of a whsitle" by Boxcar Willie in the background while watching the vid works well!

Is it mainly Class 158s operating on Fife Circle Lines. Or does Class 170s also operate that route. Shame there isn’t no sound.

@@ScotRail Ok. What about future electrification to Markinch via Aberdour and/or Cowdenbeath and to use the Class 385 and Class 380 EMUs. Or is that not possible because of structural issues including at Forth Bridge to the north of Edinburgh.

We can't run our electric 380/385 services here as the line is not currently electrified. Any electrification of the line would be carried out by Network Rail. ^Ste
