I don't watch videos that are split into multiple parts unnecessarily, just for the sake of additional monetization. A great shame, because your normal video format, where the whole thing is one video, is great, and really relaxing to watch.

Great video Mark as always, what a wonderful movement, I have yet to actually service one of these, I have only come across the non-chronograph models up until now, so this series will serve a great resource when I do finally have one in for service.
About to read about becoming a Patron now too.

You mention that servicing this movement took a long time. I understand that such modular chronograph movements have mixed opinion. I've read that many watch-makers refuse to service them. I've also read that they are perfectly fine. What is your opinion?

Very interesting video. Thanks for posting this up. When you hold the movement with your fingers though, isn't the dial going to have your fingerprints or a smudge on it? That would drive me crazy.

Hope one day you can demonstrate the servicing of the newer omega co-axial movements like the 8500 and 9300. Wonder if they are very different to the 2500 you already did. Thanks for the videos!

Is there a quick way to reengage the hand winding than disassembling all that?
My watch is fine except the hand winding which doesn’t work anymore.

How do you remember where each component goes? Is it the fact that there is a genetic similarity between all movements? Or is it just experience?

I have a Tag Heuer Formula 1watch that I believe came with an ETA 251.262 chronograph quartz movement. Would it be possible and practical to replace it a mechanical movement such as the 2894?

A nearby antique shop has one of these for sale, although the dealer has labelled it as a possible fake - were they faked, and is there a way to easily tell? It's in a cabinet so it's not easy to get hands on it

I have a tag heuer 2000. Its an eta quartz watch which has this dubois depraz chronograph. The watch battery runs down very quickly, unless the chronograph is left running. It appears that there's actually less load on the battery when the chrono is running. But how can this be possible? Thanks

love your videos , looks like the movement is $400 online , i would think for the asking price of the company , all movements would have been in house instead of outsourced , shame on Breitling , maybe the transition to the new in house movements will give buyers a piece of mind

Eight part tutorial? OMG, I guess I'll have to sell my 2824/DD2020 equipped chrono before it will require a service. No wonder some people talk about simply replacing the chrono-module instead of servicing it - but I'm not sure I would want to do that ... seems just wasteful.

Looks like a pain in the ass to service compared to a Valjoux 77xx. Such a shame because the Breitling Shadow Flyback I wanted to buy so bad has this movement. If it's not serviceable, it's pointless.

    • @douro20

7734/7750 movements aren't very easy to work on either. Column-wheel movements have fewer parts and well designed ones are much easier to service.

  • @TheSchmed

That is a beautiful dial, but still, Rolex Ice Blue is by far the best. So many complications to that watch.

When a watch brand goes along with a car, it usually is not a flagrant success. Neither is this watch. The Bentley wings with the Breitling B looks simply ridiculous. The pinnacle of lack of taste is of course the triangular Lamborghini spyder.
