I've just moved to Canada and explored some old growth and was facinated by the mushrooms. I'll definitely be buying a kit. Thanks for the videos

Oh yah, with the groceries prices in canada we gotta grow food ourselves. I started gardening last year for the 1st time but vegetables are hard to grow. It depends on the soil a lot. Mushrooms seems easier but i might be mistaken.

Exactly! You should give growing on logs a try for sure! Very economical way to ensure a continuous supply of mushrooms for years. Don't forget as well that you can dry your mushrooms so you have them all year long. Happy growing!

Hello Jessica, I'm in southern ontario canada and really thinking about starting up a mushroom farm to do as a pastime in retirement to alleviate boredom. I am intending to make a decent enough size farm to begin selling at farmer markets, and possibly to restaurants. I'm wondering what if any certifications or licensing is needed other than just registering a business . Are there any seeing as it's food related? I've also been following another youtube site called grocycle who are in the UK ... I find this all very fascinating and want to set myself up on a property to do this near Kitchener Waterloo.

Hi Tom. I would check with the local health authority. If selling fresh mushrooms, in my experience there was no special requirements to sell at markets. However if you are making a value-added product like pickled shiitake then there would be some hoops to jump to satisfy their requirements for public safety. Have fun!!

hi! No need to biol the water used for misting to create a humid environment for your mushrooms to grow. You may want to let the water sit for a few hours to let any chlorine dissipate as it's toxic to mushrooms.
