Thank you! This has been a favorite dessert since the early 1970's.
A dear friend of my parents, and then mine too, was the owner/chef of Yoshi's in Hoosick Falls, NY.
His nickname was Teddy, and his restaurant was where I first tried it. Soooo good!

Hiro I've been following you for years and I've been waiting for a tutorial for all this time. In my honest opinion you should do a new series on the basics of sushi. For example you could show how to cut slices for nigiri, how to place the rice on the hands, how to cook it without a boiler or how to roll a futomaki without the bamboo. I tried cooking sushi in Italy without buying from internet but only fresh ingredients and I discovered a lot of difficulties to overcome, and I had to try various times before it came out right. A tutorial that helps you may be really interesting. Hope you see this! Love you, Hiro!

Maybe on his other do-whatever channel he has. This main one seems more in-line with actual recipes sort of thing. Doesn't matter though, I think that would be a cool idea regardless. There's actually a well-known (in Japan) variety show (Gaki no Tsukai) where they do exactly this sometimes. They've done a Tempura episode at least once.

I love ice cream tempura! But I've never seen it made with cake. They just put scoops of ice cream in the freezer till they're very hard, then dip them in a thicker batter - more like American pancake batter than tempura. It works just like Baked Alaska :-)

I just used two slices of bread - put the ice cream in the middle of a bread, place the other bread on top of it (like sandwich) and then press down with a glass where the ice cream sits. The glass rims will seal the bread with the ice cream into a "ball". Then fry them...

When you fry ice cream, only use brands or recipes with high fat contents. Meaning milk fats, fat from fillings doesn't count. The high fat content causes it to melt slower.
