Man you are 🔥!!! Thanks for dropping the gems! These are some of the most problematic areas of a mix and you made it look easy and practical! God Bless you bro!!!!!
Great to hear advice from an experienced professional. Too many inexperienced beat makers trying to teach or trying to sell you something. Much appreciated man.
Wow, great teachings. Great advice and straight to the point. The whole Don't over Engineer your stuff is key. Very well said. Thanks. Looking forward to more content.
I call this FLA. #Frequency Lane Assignment I coined the phrase because that’s what we are doing when we are “making space” - we aren’t just making space, we are rather assigning space to each discernible sound.
Great vid Archie. Whats your thoughts on side chaining with kick and 808? Is there a reason you choose this method over SC or just a matter of taste? Peace.
Everything else I've seen says to cut up to about 35 to 50 hz off. Even stuff like 808s so that the mix doesn't sound muddy but if there's nothing else in that frequency range then there's nothing to muddy up. Also I like to boost the kicks a couple dbs right around 1000 hz to give a little clarity
When I started I used the crutchfield guide they use to print a keyboard and they divided the instrument sounds by frequency along a picture of the keyboard it helps
Please can you write down the bands u used to drag the eqs? Just to be exact cos I tried to drag it using fab filter and it wasn't so clear and on point so kindly let me know the names of it bands
Hey man, lovin this tut! just got a question....to get your current studio setup how much would it all cost if i wanted to build the same build you have? Thanks bro, subbed! (;
Jay Century I’ve tried that method 10 ago when I️ first started mixing. This is my creative process and it works out fine for my workflow and my well established/indie clients. Creativity is not calculated nor written in stone, I️ just made this video to show MY PROCESS. Besides, I’m a certified Pro Tools Operator of Music so I️ can go deep on the other side with advance mixing technique (textbook) but I️ rather keep it simple. Thanks for the info/comment.
Thanks! So I decided to try out Splice but say I want to "download all" from a sound kit. How do I get them all in an organized fashion in Logic so I can bang em out on my midi keyboard? Also what would you say is the standard velocity for midi notes?
Archie Beatz loves this tutorial. Are you doing another beat tutorial with snares and high hats? possibly also a video talking about piano, 808, drum etc vsti’s?
idk really how to word this but I can make a kick sound really good and hit hard without clipping at a normal listening level, but when I turn the volume down the kick just loses all of its character. Like as I gradually turn it down it goes flat. How do you make the kick not lose its overall sound or punchiness even when the volume is really low? I'm trying my best to not sound like an idiot I'm no audio expert lmao.
LOL.. I know right. It's actually pretty common in the UK radio/broadcast market for them to use the U87 for voiceovers. Even in film and animated movies in America, this is the go to mic. Not to worry, I record all my vocals for songs on my 87, lol.. Thanks for commenting Max.
I feel like everyone has their own unique style of making their kicks and 808's harder....I feel like its more of ecperiencing and testing the water of trial and error!! You gotta fail hard to be 10x greater!!
I'm pretty new to producing but I think the reason my drums still sound weak is the sample quality from whatever free site I got them from. What's a good way to find some cheap but high quality trap drums for new producers?
What's up Daniel? It must be exciting that you are entering the world of producing. Great career, lol. The best place for high quality drums samples in my opinion is Splice.com. It's subscription based but it's amazing stuff on that. The drum samples are mixed and master already and the samples come from well known and talented producers.
Wait wait wait a second here before I even finish watching the video...You’re using a FUCKING U87 for ure webcam?!? Guess that’s a different perspective of using what you have to what I’m used to 🤦🏼♀️
subscribed real talk u seem like a good dude, but G just make a video going straight in, a lot of ya'll just be hella talking before u get 2 it,,, talk later bro time is money
Brandon Sandoval Works sometimes but if the kick is clashing with the sub it’s still not gonna sit on the 808 properly and it’ll just feel like the kick is bouncing off the bass and it won’t sound right. It’ll sound “ok” to people who don’t know anything about music but when another producer listens to your beats you know one of the main things they’re listening to is how you mixed it

Love these videos man!
Thanks bro! You are doing your thing on the guitar and production Adriann.
I try man! 🙏🏼
I've tried lot of ways for this subject, but this one was the easiest and the best one thank you bro✌🙏
Shouldn't compression be done last?
Depends if you want to follow rules or not. I tend to not follow and experiment to get a signature sound or technique.
@@archiebeatz lol
Only thing I think I would’ve done differently is bring by back that eq on the kick to 30hz to just give a little bit more room for the kick
Thanks! So I decided to try out Splice but say I want to "download all" from a sound kit. How do I get them all in an organized fashion in Logic so I can bang em out on my midi keyboard? Also what would you say is the standard velocity for midi notes?
good shit
Question: any limits or max on how much db you decrease or gain frequencies in the EQ?
bankrow - Hip Hop and Trap Beats depends on the beat, everyone is different
So dope hey do mix as you going on or you just wait intell you done?
I do a little mixing as I produce and record but the fun comes during the final mix.
Ook same here thanks for the luv on my beat videos on IG. im recognizebeats on IG. i'm big fan man fr fr i luv the videos.
Good video
Thanks Tim!
great bro and you look like royce da 5'9
3:24 Constructive criticism, use a font with less spacing, it was a bit hard to read.
appreciate the knowledge #archiebeatz
No problem bro!
Notification Squad!!!! ❤️
:) Thank you. You're awesome!
The problem with my mixes is that they are pretty much always above 0db even if I lower the fader or use a compresser, limiter I still manage to peak
Aydin Andre lower the out ceiling to around -1
💯💯💯
Notification squad!!!
YEP!!! Thanks TRG!

IWearMyShoesToBed mix at a low volume to start with.
When a U87 us you voice over mic

You very nice teacher
I always watching your vedio
Can you teach me how I use logic pro form zero please?
why first compression and before EQ? .... EQ and before compression.... i guess..??
psychoacoustics: concerns with the perception of sound

Bro if I sent you a beat can you make it hit harder for me I'll pay you
you got that beethoven?
I wish waves CLA-2A looked that good. The meter reacts to slow to get an accurate reading on there, stupid af
Juanime Wu I like the cakewalk ca-2a, even better, I got it for free
eq before you compress, people
Troy Banagas That’s not law. It all depends on what you’re going for.
Oi
Or just soft clip it lol
