@J Ru I struggled with the same when I started out. you would have to go in depth of music theory to have a complete answer. but to begin with I can answer some of your questions to the best of my abilities. yes when a song is in the key of G the other instruments will most likely also be in the key of G but that depends which genre and what is the structure of the song. for example the concept of Jazz which is improvisation is often changes key scales but it still works. thing is you can switch from one key to another by using different methods.. But to be simple yes Basic pop / Rap songs are in one key most of the time. and Yes the 808 is supposed to be in key with the song , but it's not the end of the world once again music has no rules. G6 international hit had an off key 808 , KSHMR did that unintentionally and it sounded good so don't forget to trust your ears. @@itstonyholiday ah ok, I found just using distortion helped me for now. And I can’t stop watching your stuff bro, you’re helping me become a real maker of music. For that, I thank you 🙏🏽

@@punctdaniel I can't say 10 chapters, but just listen to your favourite songs and then try and remake them. Thats the key to learning any musical instrument or practice.
Happy you found it helpful man! These days I'm pretty stacked with a lot of stuff but someday in the future we may. Thank you for watching + the comment
Really happy you're enjoying the content! It's not a midi pack tho (just wanna make sure everyone knows what they're getting), it's a drum kit. So 200+ samples of 808s, drum hits, transition FX, etc. Thanks for the comment 🙌
Yo really liked this video very informative👌🏼 just saying though if you put it to original and then select classic instead of one shot you can get the same effect as the AR without the hassle. But obviously you’d still have to drag out the midi notes to how long you’d like it. Also, if you take the attack to about 20 milliseconds it takes off that little clip you hear when the 808 hits so it’s just a nice thud💯
Hey man love the tutorials. They’re far better than anyone I’ve found. I was just wondering, what settings would you change to get of the waves sound that comes after looping the 808, to make it longer? Also, I’d love if you made a video on how to properly mix and master in Logic. Thanks!
Thanks so much! Really happy that you found the content helpful. It's a matter of messing with the loop points, crossfade, velocity, and envelope. Bit of a trial and error type thing. I've had that suggestion a lot. I'm not really the greatest at mixing and mastering I just use Ozone and then mess with the assistant. But in the future when I feel like I have more insight on how, yes! Thanks for watching and the comment
Hey thanks for the reply. I also have one more question about the new 10.5 update. In previous versions, ESX24 could be used to make synths from scratch, and basically design them how you want them. Is there any way to do that in the new Logic Sampler? Thanks again
@@AnonYmous-wg7kl I never created synths from scratch from within EXS24, was there oscillators in there? I just used it as a sampler. I don't believe there is any oscillators within the Multi-Sampler. You can however take one shots and create really cool instruments with the tools they give you inside it. That's what I'm thinking I will do for my next video but just need to fine tune a few things first. Thanks for the shout!
T Heezy, thank you so much man, especially for making up to date vids with logic pro 10.5. I and I'm pretty sure everyone else here appreciate you and very thankful. I'm somehow stuck on only being able to watch your tutorials which bring me to my next point. Do you have it in your sight to make a mix/master vid with logic 10.5?
My man! Thank you so much, really happy that you're finding the content helpful. Stay tuned for more on 10.5 + I also want to start doing more beat making/cookup vids. As far as mixing and mastering, I am not the greatest at either (but definitely want to get better at mixing) so doing a tutorial at this point would be an injustice, maybe in the future when I feel more knowledgeable about the subject. However here's my process so you can apply this and then find out for yourself the best way for you: After all tracks are in the project, FX, EQ, etc* 1) Gain stage/make sure nothings clipping at any stage of the signal flow 2) Level out my tracks so they sound good to me 3) Automation 4) Do some more dialing with compression/EQ 5) Master... I just use Ozone 😂 Hope that helps point you in the right direction so you can get started. Thanks for the love and support on the vids!
It’s hard to explain but it prevents the sound from overlapping with each other - there are videos online. I think it’s why FL drums seem to cut through the mix better
Great video. How do you go about making the 808 patterns ? Any tips or tricks ? I’ve heard some people say go off the kicks some say go off the bass notes of your chord progressions. Thank you
You would do those two different practices for different reasons. I.E. following the kicks is for the rhythm and placement of the 808 notes, the bass notes of your progressions can be for the rhythm as well as the actual note itself. To start I would go off the bass notes of your progression, you'll develop an ear for placing them elsewhere after that.
Would you make a video about how to make a "Beibs-Esque" 808 with the ES2 or EXS24? It sounds so damn dope. That would literally make my life complete.
Yes!! Definitely want to get into more sound design on the channel. That particular 808 has been a favourite of mine and a lot of the people that bought the pack. Lemme see what I can do with ES2, I no longer have access to the EXS24 unfortunately. Thanks for watching 🙌

@@punctdaniel I can't say 10 chapters, but just listen to your favourite songs and then try and remake them. Thats the key to learning any musical instrument or practice.

Thanks for the great content Tony. I gotta check out your new midi pack..
Really happy you're enjoying the content! It's not a midi pack tho (just wanna make sure everyone knows what they're getting), it's a drum kit. So 200+ samples of 808s, drum hits, transition FX, etc. Thanks for the comment 🙌
Tony Holiday - Thanks for clarifying!
No worries! Thanks for the inquiry. Have a great weekend 🙌

best tutorials
I appreciate you! There will be new ones soon. Thank you for watching 🙌
Thanks for the tip Chanse! Appreciate the comment and thank you for watching
@@itstonyholiday thank you as well! I’m adding these tips to my 808’s now! Definitely subbed👌🏼 keep making these helpful tutorials brotha!

Great job 🔥🔥

Thanks for the shout!
forgot to mention (or i missed it) but use Classic mode so the sample ends when you release the note,
Yea this is key, thanks for mentioning it.
thanks man
Thanks for always showing love Seth!
Great video, thanks for the help👍🏿, but how do you do 808 slides with this method? I'm making a drill beat and I can't seem to figure it out.
Glad you enjoyed it! Check out this video for how to do glides:

However here's my process so you can apply this and then find out for yourself the best way for you:
After all tracks are in the project, FX, EQ, etc*
1) Gain stage/make sure nothings clipping at any stage of the signal flow
2) Level out my tracks so they sound good to me
3) Automation
4) Do some more dialing with compression/EQ
5) Master... I just use Ozone 😂
Hope that helps point you in the right direction so you can get started. Thanks for the love and support on the vids!
THANK YOUUUUUU!
Thanks for the support Diego!
how to do extend a sample that isn't long enough though
Extend the release should do the trick. Thanks for watching!
“cut it self” feature in fl how do you do that in Logic Pro with quick sampler ?
What does it do?
It’s hard to explain but it prevents the sound from overlapping with each other - there are videos online. I think it’s why FL drums seem to cut through the mix better
Sounds like you're making the sound in mono. You can do that from the polyphony drop down in the q-sampler.
good job
Thank you for watching
🙏🏽
🙌
Great video. How do you go about making the 808 patterns ? Any tips or tricks ? I’ve heard some people say go off the kicks some say go off the bass notes of your chord progressions. Thank you
You would do those two different practices for different reasons. I.E. following the kicks is for the rhythm and placement of the 808 notes, the bass notes of your progressions can be for the rhythm as well as the actual note itself.
To start I would go off the bass notes of your progression, you'll develop an ear for placing them elsewhere after that.
@@itstonyholiday okay I got you thank you! Do you happen to have any videos on that by chance?
@@cmad2345 I don't think so. Could make for a good video tho! Thanks for the suggestion
@@itstonyholiday yeah that’d be a good one!

Hey Tony! Big props to you on sharing some great production knowledge and tips on using 10.5. I’ve been a longtime Cubase user, but I think it’s time to get Logic. Where r u from?
Hey! Thank you for the kind words regarding the content, always great to hear that people find it helpful. Logic is a beast, but if you're comfortable with Cubase that's a great DAW as well.
