Today we use hydrogen peroxide to get rid of aquarium algae including bba black beard algae
Thanks For Watching Guys!!! Don't Forget To 👍 The Video! Животные
After watching your video last week i brought a toothbrush for my tank and its made a big difference, thanks
I use peroxide when needed, but not in or anywhere near my tank, I'm not brave enough. I take out anything that needs it. If it's a plant, I get a container with treated water, spray the algae with 1 to 1 water/peroxide solution, let it soak in it, drop it in the container, then rinse later on when I want to put it back in my tank. But it's rarely used as i try everything else before I go chemical. I'm too worried about my fish lol. I wish I could be more brave about it! Fortunately I have little algae to deal with, so not too much anxiety! This seems good advice for if I ever have a bad issue with algae or work up the nerve to try to treat more directly lol.
I've personally, in my retail store, used h2o2 on cyno bacteria and bba that was out of control. Worked well on both. I did over do it one time in the sensitive fish side of my system and lost quite a few fish and shrimp though.....great video!
Thank you very much for your videos I find them to be very interesting and helpful
Great vid Mike! Usefully info for sure!
Only thing I use H2O2 for is BBA. All other algae types scrape or pull out. If you pull whatever BBA is attached to out of your tank then spray it that is significantly safer. I then rinse with some waste water from your water change. The risk of killing your fish is high if you just spray in the tank and most my investment is in fish. Plants are second priority in my tanks.

I’ve never tried it but now I will. Thanks.
ayyyy LAKEY INSPIRED i have been listening to his music all week!
1:45 - "Don't always jump to solutions like this".... dude, you set yourself up for a freaking fantastic chemistry joke and just whiffed on it.... #disappointed
Good info thanks
It also melts monte carlo a bit but it bounces back. I find using a plastic syringe more effective than spraying. I think as it sprays you end up losing some of the extra oxygen thats in the peroxide (considering its just highly oxygenated water or h202)
Try a syringe and maybe make a video showing the difference, itll be sciencey. Right up your alley.
I mix my H2o2 with excel. Super destroyer. I put up a vid awhile ago with the mix
I need to see this vid ! Can't find it with the search!
Love your thumbnails👍
Great Video! A life SAVER!
Probably a good idea to do another water change later after the spray , just to make sure you’re not leaving to much h2o2 in the tank.
H202 turns into oxygen or water after it obtains the extra molecule
@@wolvessavior So no need for the water change after spraying our plants and rocks?
Awesome man !!
Awesome vid keep it up
im gonna try this method, thanks for explaining the 1.5ml/gallon.
How did it work for you?
You can try use seachem excel to spot treat your tank, it is much safer and effective.
lol tooo sketchy broski, I might have to one day though, thanks for the tip!
Apparently it's bad to use the same toothbrush for my tank and my teeth.
Your videos are the best
I was very nervous to try this so at first I took my decorations out an used it on them then let it sit placed everything back an I’m starting to feel better about using it my 10 gallon tank tends to get a lot of algae I have 2 fluval chi tanks that are 5 gallons an I don’t have a problem with it my 40 gallon that I’m working on doing an aquascape with is when I’ll definitely no doubt be using this method
I love your channel!
Hey Mike. I use Hydrogen Peroxide alot for spraying algae off plants. I do it the same as u. If I can remove the plants j put the in a bucket and so them separate... Or if I can't I drain and do it like u also.
Question: recently one of my tanks got a HUGE green water bloom! I have been keep lights off for awhile and I've used filter floss and changing it.. and doing water changes... But do you have any suggestions on how to get it back to normal? Cuz it's so green! Thanks!!!
I just leave the light off til it goes away. That looks like Lyngbya or Oscillatoria. I don't know how I missed those Endlers in past videos, they are gorgeous!
Hi Mike.
I was watching ADU aquascaping and he actually recommends using the active ingredient that is found in Secheam Excell! I forget what it’s called now, but is regularly round in Liquid Co2. A lot safer too apparently, albeit I still use H2O2 at 3%. It’s a good cheep tool to have
Use both Excel and H2O2.
Excel is safe in shrimp tanks
Usually when I start a new tank and I start to notice algae I dose a small amount of hydrogen peroxide(topical solution) into the aquarium depending on the size of your aquarium. I notice that this method works slowly but it does hold back the algae while you figure out how to keep the algae from booming.
Wish I knew this a month ago. Thanks!
I swear I was just googling how to kill bba with peroxide when you posted this video. Thanks Mike! Hopefully this combined with a sae will kill it all. I dose excel daily but that doesn't help
You know how WD40 has a little tube it sprays through? I wonder if you could do something like that?
LaZerGuM? You tryna get passed demonetization?
Thank you so much. I'm a new hobbyist and I have staghorn and blackbeard on my new tank. It's ruining it for me and it's upsetting. I'm going to do a treatment tonight. I'm worried so I'm going to go at just 1mL per gallon. Thanks again!
How did this work for you?
I'm also curious as to how it worked.
When you say you need to "balance" the Aquarium, what exactly are you doing then? More specifically, how do you fight this algae you've got? I've got the same in my bettas tank even though im keeping up with the water changes.. 😅
Great video! I have algae issues (hair, bba, etc.,) in a few of my ~20 tanks and just started using H2O2...this video gives me more confidence to keep going!!!
Me too . 😂
I use it all the time...I just don't dose it as often as I should. Usually directly to the tank because the peroxide just breaks down within a few minutes into water.
Did you fill back up with the water you took out or new water?
All that hydrogen peroxide is staying in the tank...it doesnt matter what level you drop the water to. Unless you are removing it via a water change its just dripping down into the tank water until you dilute it when you fill the tank up.
H2o2 is very unstable and will react very quickly with algae or any other organics. So the h2o2 he sprayed directly on the plants will have already reacted into o2 (oxygen) and h2o (water) by the time you fill the tank. Also having bright lights on the tank will accelerate the reaction.
That's not true, H2o2 naturally turns into water and oxygen. You can dump an entire bottle of H2o2 into a bucket and after a while it'll just be water.
Hi I have a question, I have a 36 gallon bowfront and I was wondering if I could put a pair of apistogoramma and a pair of German blue rams in there with some angels or tetras please tell me what you think
I have a quedtion im just bearly starting my aquarium it seems like mynrocks im getting black algae i saw your video can i take off the stones and sprayed them outside and then putting them back to my tank?
Yes you can. Did you try it? And how did it work out for you?
Hey I have 24 gallon tank so I can use 24 ml h202 right and is it per day or only once please reply as soon as possible because I am dealing with blackbeard algae
bro i need your help. i put a plant from petco that had bba spores all over it. after a few days in my tank it went out of control. its covering my dwarf hair grass.. i cant just pull my DHG out of the tank and do that like you did your plants
At 0:31 This fish is tiny, so cute:)

*Lasers Bruh?*
did this treatment the other day for bba and i did 1ml per gal in a 29gallon the tank has been up and going for a year. and all of a sudden i had a ammonia spike and killed all my fish and my tank is no longer cycled... so i dont know if the treatment killed all my beneficial bacteria or i did something wrong .
*SLLLLLIRP JUICEEE*
How long should you wait to turn on the filter with bio media after treating the tank?
Trial and error. I'd wait a little bit, let it work, then do a big water change, then turn your filter back on. Or if you're ballsy you could just leave the filter on, no water change, and just let it break down naturally.
I have trouble with beard algue that's starting to take over my tank but I have over 100 shrimp so this isn't an option, could you recommend me some things I could try that are safe for both fish and invertebrates?
Siamese algea eater
Excel and lights off for a few days
May I know what is the fish type in the algae tank is? Thanks 🙏
it look so cool
It's a fish
Hey Aqua may i make a request for more videos? Thanks 🖒
I replaced the water in my tank with hydrogen peroxide, do you think that will get rid of the bba faster?
Nope you need a 3ml of water i use half that per gallon
Does anyone have any tips for removing algae from an outdoor minipond
I sprayed hydrogen peroxide on anubias I took out of the water covered with plastic wrap and left it for 20 minutes. Melted all the beautiful leaves and have been nursing the rhizomes with some tiny new leaf growth for a few months. Next time I would test it on one first.
Use seachem excel its safer
I really don't like algae blooms, thanks for the info
yup hydrogen peroxide is pretty dangerous, thats why i couldnt take the risk, instead i try to focus more to balance my tank.
at first i only change water and dose fert once a week, and i got all kind of algae, like BB,brown and string algae.
and then i changed to twice a week water change and dim the light a little bit and dose everyday, and in just 2 weeks doing it and the help of a couple siamese algae eater my tank is algae free now and its been a month since that.
tomp rocks what type of fert do you dose every day?
That's awesome! Congrats! But do you think it wasn't so much the water changes that helped but dosing the ferts and your plants getting established and out competing the algae that really helped?
that's a lot of water changes to the point of it being sad. Maybe an algae scrubber will be better. (Grow algae in a container to purify the water)
I must have some kind of weird hair algae because it never turns red when I soak it in H2o2. It does die off a bit, but it sure doesn't seem to be affected as much as yours!
I do to mine is black ? Idk
Any tips for removing GSA?
The nursing student inside of me was lowkey screaming inside "Don't use hydrogen peroxide on cuts on your fingers!" haha.
Lol, I'm a nurse too and I was thinking the same thing when he said that.
Why? That's the first thing we use to disinfect cuts and scrapes.
@@trueblu8 Hydrogen Peroxide is actually bad for cuts and things... if you put it on cuts and scrapes, it makes healing take much longer.
@@TimidInkSpirit Really?! What's better, alcohol, neosporin?
@@trueblu8 wash the wound, and keep it moist. Skin repair is faster when it's moist. When dry, a scab forms which dramatically lengthens the time for complete recovery.
seems to work very well for me,but needs to be sprayed on plants directly, not underwater
Can you just relocate the fish until the tank is finished with the treatment? And once done with the treatment can you remove about 2/4ths of the water to unconcentrate the peroxide?
That's a smart idea. I think moving your fish if you have the time is the safest bet. Maybe for 24 hours then out them back in. I don't think that this guy making the video had that kind of time though and that's why he didn't suggest it.
have you tried the key lime la croix yet? I personally like it a lot better than the normal lime
Ill make sure its next on my list, good lookin out fam
I'd love to be brave enough to do this, seems too risky for my nerves. I'm fighting a cyano break out in my dwarf puffer tank and its driving me nuts!
f n toxic. remove, treat, quarantine, return
Toothbrush all the way!
Maybe you should add algae eater fish - like corys. (Pygmy or Salt & Pepper work well in nano tanks). Good luck 👍
corys arent algae eaters smh
No fish will eat cyanobacteria; not even shrimp, Janice
I'm 10 years old and I have 2 tanks
How are tanks doing now Mosiah?
Sluuuuuuuurp juice 😂
I left the h202 on my Amazon sword too long !! No more the. 10 minutes or it burns. Ty
3ml x 1 gallon, if you have 100gallon, it means you need to dose it with 300ml ? is that right?
The dosage is a minimum of 8mL and a maximum of 15mL per 50 milliliters of water. What you are asking is too much of an amount. For that size tank the dose should be between 60mL to 113mL
Slurp juice in the thumbnail? Xd
FORTNITE LOVE< FORTNITES LIFE
PUBGS Better😄
Neon Tetra Aquarist ya it’s is
Is a all tank update coming soon ✌
Peroxide doesn't bother the skin. what you see is the reaction to open wounds and infection that causes the fizz.
1:05 dead fish was it from using the peroxide before making this video or was the fish dead already before that ?after seeing this makes me less sure of wanting to try this method seems unsafe no matter how safe you play it
Just a leaf that was shed by one of the plants
All you need is a Molly. I put two in my 75 gallon. Two weeks it was all gone. Better than any algae eater or snail ever.
Yes Mollies! They LOVE the stuff!
Nope, I have 5 mollies and the string algae proliferates without issue
@@dylanhughes5944 Correct Dylan. Same here, black mollies, even young ones, will not touch hair algae….
Which aquapro I love your videos keep it up pleas I just can't get enough
Have you been able to figure out why you are having this algae problem?
With planted tanks it's always a battle against algae. It could be things like too much light, not enough established plants to eat all the nutrients in the water and out compete the algae, not enough Co2 or ferts for the plants to thrive. It takes maintenance and effort to maintain a healthy, balanced tank where you don't have problems with algae.
"I like them, I feed them to my pufferfish" .. poor confused snails 😂
Also one thing to bear in mind for the ratio of hydrogen peroxide and water is that you have to account for the displacement of the rocks, gravel, plants etc when deciding how many gallons of water does the tank actually have. Another thing is to shut off the filtration system so you're not destroying valuable beneficial bacteria and I would use this stuff if you have any Riccia in the tank .I made that mistake before and learned the hard way unfortunately. The same thing holds true for the algaecide solutions made by Marineland . It'll destroy Riccia PDQ . Would have been nice if they had a warning about this on their label.
Slurp Juice
What kind of buce is that?
Is that a dead fish floating in the front of shrimp mountain?
Did I just see slurp juice in the thumbnail?
Is that 3% Peroxide ?
BOM SLURP
Haha you can tell he is trying so hard to get a sponsor from the soda thing
Never tried it but would try it now
Use a nerite or mystery snail
is that safe for my betta?
H2O2 will destroy marimo moss balls just throwing it out there.
Manvar Tejas, yup, marimo moss balls are algae. Actual moss is already sensitive to peroxide anyway, but so few know that marimo moss balls are actually algae and not moss. So yeah, targeted algae treatment is definitely going to affect "moss" balls.
Marimo moss balls need to be destroyed anyway. They belong in shallow streams, not aquariums.
Will BBA grow on your moss?
Yes
Hi
bananas
lazer gum
Mike, I killed a whole tank of fish. Used peroxide but way to much. Wish I would have watched this video first. Thanks for the info
Is that a dead fish?
is hydrogen peroxide in a shrimp tank bad idea?
You clearly didn't watch the video fully did you, he clearly mentioned that it is super lethal to invertebrates like shrimp
Is that slurp juice from fortnite in the thumbnail?
Tasty chewy laser gum😉
top shaking the camera front and back when u talk please, it makes watching the video on a big screen nauseous
I melted all my anubias Nana petite trying to nuke bba...my fault though because I over treated the hydrogen peroxide. Lol
All my angels died when I tried H2O2 last year. Delicate balance between using it successfully and killing your fish. Will never take the risk again.
Lime La Croix is my favorite flavor. I used this to try and clean the glass. Stupid me, lost 3 Amano Shrimp.
