Lots of great information for anyone who wants to spearfish. Ive been petrified of diving an oil rig and this just made it seem more calming and enjoying watching. Got me thinking.. Nice video and trip man. Need to carry a set of game shears on your boat and trim off the fins off that lion fish before ya throw it in your fish bag. They will go plumb through that bag. I have shot 1000s of them in the keys when we go to visit. They are great to eat and your doing the enviroment a favor since they are an invasive species here in the gulf.
    Ps they make a product we carry called Sting Master. It helps 100 times over if you ever do get stuck. Great on jellyfish and firecoral stings as well.

    I don’t know if you’ll see this but when you shoot a lion fish cut off the spines right when you shoot it so you don’t have a risk of getting yourself poked by your self.

    This might be asking a lot as I know filming and editing is already a tremendous amount of work, but it would be super cool if you had a dive timer and a depth showing on the video as you take these dives just for total noobs like me who are never going to go spearfishing nor free diving And also for people that are interested to have an idea of how deep and how long you are free diving. Just wanted to throw in the suggestions box because I love your videos, but I think it would be a real cool add-on.

    Nice work on the AP. Suggestion next school, cause we hunt them a lot in NC. If you turn around and they are coming at you, stop and sit completely still, and look away and maybe give the squid fingers. They’ll normally come right to you in perfect range. Often they turn for a sec and then turn right back at you.

    • @Fishing4Mortgages
      @Fishing4Mortgages Год назад +1

      Sorry, also, if they don’t come in range don’t shoot a far shot, super slowly rise and signal another diver to dive. They’ll normally follow you up a little, and the diver passing you on his way down can get good shot.

I noticed your rollar has blue collared bands on it. Are those rob allen bands? I was told they make poor bands for rollars since they are too tight and not quite stretchy enough. They are Calcutta fish bags from Amazon. They do the job. The more insulated version is supposed to be better.

    how does the water pressure not hurt you from that depth you’re at

    • @BradenSherron
      @BradenSherron  Год назад

      We equalize our ears from the pressure when descending down. You can look up equalization for diving to learn more about it.
      As far as the rest of our body, it adapts naturally. Peripheral vasoconstriction plays a big role- blood from the extremities is brought to the vital organs, the lungs are filled with blood to not get crushed from pressure. It’s very interesting- and crazy to think our bodies automatically adapt!

      Definitely agree on the kingfish comparison. I’d have to try side by side for the rainbow vs cuda!
      I usually don’t mess with them as the my tear up my gear though

      Barracuda is definitely better than those other fish, I agree 100%. I spearfish in Barbados and that’s my main fish I shoot. I also shoot mackerel. And just a note Lionfish spines are venomous not poisonous. Bring medical shears and cut ‘‘em off underwater after you shoot them. Easy to string and makes ‘‘em manageable.😎🇧🇧

    Yo my fellow spear-fisherman, The reason your prize fish are headed away from you is they have been shot at before. Take it from someone who has fished the keys and watched jew fish follow the guy with the speargun so he can hijack your kill. If you want to go sometime come to Bradenton and look for captain Dlip from Hardbottom. No Bananas!
