Hey Heather & Sean! I need to put more of my authenticity out there. I did take a chance and posted a video that was a mini tour of my minivan camper and it was not edited at all. It has taken off with more views now than any other video. I also switched to using my photo as a RUclips profile photo using my brand color. I have a target audience and always looking to define them more. I need to work on my hooks and keeping my viewers watching longer. Take care! -Marshall ✌️

Thank you! Thank you! I literally pressed pause in the middle of your video and shortened my video. It was almost 12 minutes and now it is about 6 and half minutes..I am now listening to the rest of the podcast as my video exports! Thank you Think Marketing Team! You guys are awesome!
Hey new RUclipsr, yes you, reading the comments. I’m new too & I’ve watched way too many “how to grow your channel” type stuff. But this one has everything, it’s pure gold. So after you’ve watched it, stop, and go make content. We can do it, good luck! ❤️
@@SantiYounger thanks mate! Really appreciate it! Checked out yours too. You’ve been at it for a while but it really seems like you’ve found your niche! Keep up the grind! 🙌
Let's see: 1. Subs are overrated (you need the right ones), which is why doing shorts worries me or at least it tells me that if I do them they have to relate to my niche. I've added about 40 subs due to shorts - I want then to be active. 2. Shorter vids - I'm doing several (a series) where they are 3-5mins. 3. Power up content: It's getting better. 4. Value-Based Hooks. Read and rereading Hook Point. Very Good stuff. 5. Maintain Authenticity - I'm good at this. Once again ... great video.
"Subscribers are overrated you want to be focused on your target audience," I LOVE IT! Such an amazing message and I think many creators should take notes on this video (and all the others of course 😂). This isn't about giving us hope, it's about knowing that if you truly provide value and make videos that people will click and watch through, your future can be set in stone... This was gold.
Authenticity!!! It’s great to just be us. No pretense. No drama. Just being ourselves will not just help our viewers but we also start loving ourselves more. Thank you for sharing, I’m inspired. 🤗

"1% better every time you upload a video" that is so important in order to get better! We try and jump massive levels each day and get discouraged. Just slow down your pace and keep on running, we'll get to that "finish line" eventually. Even then... there's just another race 😂 so let's prepare for the long haul!
Hold on, this is actually an excellent reflection. It’s so true. We always want to have this polished product and five years experience when we literally are at the beginning and so are...beginners?! Sounds so simple but I hadn’t thought about it like that. Thanks for this and have a great day 🐝

Thanks for this video, it helped me confirm this!
This is going to kill RUclips.. why Tiktok is blowing up. A lot of gotta have the right this, the right that..very sad! RUclips use to be a place where they'd promote all channels no matter what.
I hope that doesn't happen. RUclips is really important. I hope RUclips is trying to improve the content. Example. There is an oil painting artist on RUclips named Ian Roberts. His subscriber count skyrocketed recently and he isn't sure why. I have an idea about these changes in algorithms. He has the most wonderful content. He teaches people how to paint. I think he could serve as a model RUclipsr. And maybe that simplicity and authenticity is what they are looking for.

I have no clue if I am niched down enough but I want to ultimately have subscribers that are interested in both of my topics so not sure what to do!! Also loved the tips of being real and authentic. This is so important!
Thank you for this info. My intuition was telling me shorter videos is where it's at so I've been keeping my "long form" content to 5-10 minutes and I post at least one short each day as well. I've been affirmed. :)
Can't wait to get more summarized, interactive videos from youtubers. That's what I'm aiming for. It's harder to make, but the rewards for quality are worth it by giving the consumer more value per youtube minute

Of all the videos I've watched from think media, I think this was one of the most impactful. Especially your parts at the end dealing with confidence, authenticity, the uniqueness of self, etc. I will listen to this again. Outstanding job!
I love this. So true. I vlog my Life and dude we have problem on the farm. I just got through a burn out and my "viewers/friends" helped me through it this winter. I also look for the real person/personality in the videos.
Sean you are a legend mate - your first point on subscribers being the first metric that YT uses before it pushes out the video is spot on. I made a slightly off niche video just on my RUclips studio build and it not only killed the video from going out in less than a day, it also punished all of my other videos for views as well... YT is killing videos now regardless of whether it's actually good or not.
I've actually started to make shorter videos already so this was great to hear. The hook is really what I need to work on! I Love the fact of authenticity counts! Be yourself, you are the only you out there! Thank you for the great content!
That cool about shorter video. My goal this year was to do a video every Tuesday that I am calling it 2 cent Tuesdays. I started back in January. They are around 2 min and they have really helped my channel take off. I do my regular videos every week too but this was extras.
Shorter videos appeal to people who have short attention spans. But if you make a longer video with great points and a lot of great education or you manage to keep their attention, then you still win. This is due to the bad influence of Tic Tok. I despise Tic Tok.
Credit where credit is due. To me the best video you have done..period. I like the fact that you are keeping up with what’s happening on YT and the algorithm. The amount of times I still see “thumbnail is everything “ is actually stopping me from watching these videos. I can second what you said but the more I look behind the curtain the more I wish...can we not just create...🙏 god bless
Why don't you recommend that people watching a RUclips video leave feedback so that the person can improve their video. It's nice when people tell me what they like or don't like about my videos. That's really helpful.
Thank you guys so much for what you do! You help me so much! I have only gotten one video done so far lol, but you guys really help me see that there is a path forward and that I can do this.
Listened through this entire video and found so much value in this. The one that I really liked was suggestions for head talking footage and how to hook people in those first 60 seconds. Definitely going to focus on that :)
THANK YOU so much for this, it’s so easy to get discouraged w subscribers, i know why i’m here & i am working on clarifying my message + leveling up every single video. i always appreciate the perfectly synchronicity of your encouragement, exactly when i’m ready to receive it 🚀
Vulnerability and authenticity are two of my focus areas this year. I have a business coach specific to my industry and she and I have talked a lot about this. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Alot of what you said makes sense. What I started doing is making 2-3 minute preview, teaser videos for my game play videos that are about 30 minutes. That way people have an idea of what they will get I the full length video.
I love the motivation in the end. So many of us keep looking for advice.... look inside yourself. Who are you what are you passionate about. And how can you use that to connect with others. I am Mr Chrome. Let’s stay motivated. Content creating for the win. And never back down. There will always be the tri. And the. The umph! .... TRIUMPH!
That first new rule makes it difficult for a new small travel channel as we get a lot of subscribers in a country but many of them stop clicking to watch new videos as we move to a new country😕
I think that there definitely is a sweet spot in terms of length of time. I normally do not have an hour to sit down and watch or listen to a video, unless it's somebody that I absolutely want to listen to. There are too many content creators that I have been following, and I just don't have enough hours in the day to listen to them all. So shorter is better. Putting out videos that are two and three hours long, I just can't do it. I have way too much stuff that I need to get through.
Besides my beginner video editing skills, I think right now staying authentic and trusting myself. In my knowledge, experience, and overall vibe I'm getting from the market. When I do, I do a great job, but when I hold back it ends up turning out good, but it's too late to have made it great! Excellent Podcast!! Thank You very Much! 😆
Totally on point! So much appreciation for such genuine pursuit on “authenticity”... started my RUclips channel about 4 months ago, and the struggle is REAL! Think team has been my only “go-to” to continuously learn and seek for guidance... Much thanks to Sean and team! 🙏
The most to-the-point, informative and inspiring Think Media video I’ve seen in months! I’ve watched it twice and I can’t wait to press record! Thank you Sean and Heather! 😊🙏❤️⬆️⬆️⬆️
9:30 Great point because if you think about I’ve always had a hard time saying no to those who gave out food samples at the mall 😂 “Try, do you like it? $5.99.” Sold!
I swear I've been playing this cat and mouse game for years... just when you think you've got it figured out, the rules change. The best overall rule is to simply make awesome videos and forget everything else
Love these tips!! I’m focusing this year on a few key goals... one including increasing watch time & click through rate! And another one being: showing up on TikTok so I can provide short form content 5-7x per week and give long form value 1x per week on RUclips!
I always learn so much when I watch your videos. I am just starting out and just starting to figure out my own video style. I think the biggest change I need to make is to be more relaxed and work on the hook.
Excellent advice. The Think Marketing Podcast is now part of my Tuesday routine: 1) Tony’s Tip of the week; followed by 2) Think Marketing Podcast. This 1-2 punch will help rocket me to my goals.
I will only say that for the last 6 months, I have uploaded 315 educational shorts on two different channels which led to the support of 700 followers and 100k views. Meanwhile, in Tik Tok, those same 315 videos receive more than 10 million views and 100k followers. Hopefully, RUclips will take the right path to growth on both sides 🤞.
I do like your suggestion for shorter minutes. I have a short attention span. Some of these videos are really long. Even when you do enjoy the content the maker sometimes gets carried away. Time is precious and there is only so much.
The Hooks, Yes that one's for me. The second one is 'Authenticity'...I am growing...All this will probably make sense in the months to come...Thanks 'Think Media'
Never tell people to subscribe to you until the end of the video. And even then present a RUclips card with a tutorial on the difference between the subscribe button and the bell notification.
Actually you can ask people to subscribe to you at the beginning if you tell them why they should subscribe. That is your chance to quickly tell them what your channel is all about!
@@RealHomeRecording If you decide to follow this path, at least avoid sounding like you need subscribers. Be warm and inviting but understanding if they don't want to subscribe to you. That way it feels like their choice and not something compulsory.
It's interesting how more content creators are encouraging shorter video's while other creators are somewhat negative regarding creating short videos. meanwhile we are beginning to see that RUclips is starting shift a bit more towards shorter content & think it's great I enjoy long form videos, but it's nice to have different options thank you Sean. I've been watching & following you're content for a while.
@@ThinkMediaPodcast I'm still a bit new but I'm noticing that my shorter video's which are roughly around 4 or 5 minutes perform modestly well at my stage of development with the addition of RUclips shorts 15 to 45 minutes but this is perhaps bc It's an art focused channel I'm not sure if other niches would have the same experience as each subject might require more time vs an artist niche.
I need to do more short form content on my channel and cut out fluff in my videos. I’m a wordy person and tend to over-explain things and it’s definitely affecting my watch duration. :(
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Jesse Duplantis maintains authenticity with his candor. He says it like it is. We need to be real with people. I'm a little dyslexic and tell people who watch my vids. People who regularly watch my content know this secret about me. Authenticity is vital.

Thanks very helpful. Shorter yet powerful. Sounds great.
Shorter is stronger! Love that tip and have noticed my shorter videos do well compared to my longer videos.
I am encourage to continue youtube in authentic way. yesssssss
Totally on point! So much appreciation for such genuine pursuit on “authenticity”... started my RUclips channel about 4 months ago, and the struggle is REAL! Think team has been my only “go-to” to continuously learn and seek for guidance... Much thanks to Sean and team! 🙏
Sean has helped us out many times. Thanks for the inspiration!
If this ain't the whole truth and nothing but the truth!!! ❤
The pep talk I so desperately needed!
I swear I've been playing this cat and mouse game for years... just when you think you've got it figured out, the rules change. The best overall rule is to simply make awesome videos and forget everything else
Glad I could help!
@@ThinkMediaPodcast love your videos... thank you!
Love these tips!! I’m focusing this year on a few key goals... one including increasing watch time & click through rate! And another one being: showing up on TikTok so I can provide short form content 5-7x per week and give long form value 1x per week on RUclips!
Thanks for sharing!!
Think media is a prize, a treasure for everyone want to success 💛
You don't lose until you give up..keep that in mind...
I always learn so much when I watch your videos. I am just starting out and just starting to figure out my own video style. I think the biggest change I need to make is to be more relaxed and work on the hook.
You are so welcome!
If you see this comment, I wish that your channel will blow up! Best wishes to everyone!❤
Hm...interesting!
Curious to see these tips, especially from a beginner standpoint.
“All I have to be is myself.” AMEN
I love "don't make a video your subscribers didn't subscribe for" YES!! I needed to hear this!!
"half short and twice strong" Another wise nugget!! 👍👍👍
The Hooks, Yes that one's for me. The second one is 'Authenticity'...I am growing...All this will probably make sense in the months to come...Thanks 'Think Media'
Being different is to be yourself, well said!
Power Bomb!
I've been watching & following you're content for a while.
it really comes down to the content you are making and what your audience wants.
I appreciate the massive value you bring to every video! These are all things I really really needed to hear right now. Thank you!
This is just what I needed to help push me forward,am putting it to practice right away
Thanks a lot guys
Love think media they are the king 👑 and Queen 👸 of quotes ❤❤❤
Shorter vids!! I’m so happy. This is why I’ve found it easier to post on IG and TikTok. 🌸 thank you!
You're so welcome!
