      Don't think that's it. It may be a factor, but not likely a major one. I've been playing GW1 and Gw2 for about 15 years now, and it's just always been like that. In that same time I've tried quite a few other MMOs - And even got frequent invites to MMO Betas for several years. The GW community has just _always_ been very friendly and helpful to other players. Obnoxious, boastful and troublemaking players are quite uncommon. They seem to either adapt and quiet down or get frustrated and go away...

    I'm a caregiver to my Mom. As well as getting through a separation from a previous relationship, which has finally ran its course. But over the years between dealing with these responsibilities, I had to put Guild Wars 2 down for many years. I even retired from console gaming.
    Things have settled down for the better to where I have been thinking about coming back to Guild Wars 2. I was uncertain until I ran into your channel. You have given so many positives on not just this game but in Gaming altogether. It means a lot. It's also very relatable to hear a casual gamer. Because I still take care of my Mother and I'm newly married. Though I'd like to try my hand at playing Gw2 on a casual level.
    When I did play it felt like such an expected grind. I never liked that too much. After watching this video however, it's good to know that casual gaming is becoming a norm. A godsend for people with responsibilities.

    Played Guild Wars 1 back in the day due to requirements being low enough for both the system and internet. I grew up in a rural area with only dial up connections available there at the time with a low to mid-tier Desktop, which I later upgraded the video card and RAM on. Such good times! Eventually completed all the content and once Guild vs. Guild became harder to get into, I stopped playing except for those little nostalgia fueled logins every now and then. When they announced GW2, and started showing the gameplay footage. I knew it would be another masterpiece. I played it for 48 hours continuously when it fully released. I have never had so much fun on a game and discovering so many things like jumping puzzles, dynamic events, etc. I just picked it back up yesterday after quitting during HoT due to getting burnt out from that grind to finally finish the last mission on the core game, and I am so glad I did. So ready to get my first mount and really go hard exploring/discovering things!

    The biggest thing for me is the solo viability of the game (besides the obvious ones like horizontal progression and stuff, of course).
    I even do have a fair bit of time to play, and wouldn't really consider myself a casual player, but that doesn't mean I always want to go full sweat big numbers. Most of the time I'm just hanging out on a heal build and quietly helping others have a better experience in the background (while also being fun for me!).
    And then sometimes when I do feel like going extra, I can tag up and lead entire map metas, help people do jumping puzzles, or just sit around answering questions in starter zones.
    The best part is I don't get punished for doing either one of those over the other, it purely comes down to how I feel about approaching the game that day, and the game will reward me all the same for it.

If you ask for build help most ppl are going to assume you're new, and meta builds are usually the best option to start with because new players prob don't know why a build is good or bad yet. even as a long time player, I don't always know all the nuances of how each trait work together. if you're arguing that a non meta build/weapon is unconditionally BETTER than a meta build/weapon for every content, of course you're going to get ppl going wtf. and even with meta builds there are differences between metabattle, snowcrows, hardstuck etc. meanwhile there are plenty of ppl who make their own builds and share on RUclips or in game. there's whole buildcraft websites for ppl to do this, and I see a ton of vids on yt with ppl showcasing their build n linking their build in description, and ive picked up/tried some of those builds myself.

    I've been playing GW2 since launch. Yes, it has been off and on, and yes, I have consistently come back to it. The game is fun, it is very casual friendly, and has the LEAST toxic fanbase I have ever seen for an MMO. I am also a former WoWtard, played that off and on from 2004 to 2020 when I finally acknowledged that I was no longer having fun with the game. But GW2 has always drawn me back in. If it's been awhile, I would roll a new character to play through the original vanlilla game to get my feet back under me, and remember just how much I enjoyed the exploration. When you can look at the game and go "hey, what's over there?" and find yourself occupied for hours because you went off the beaten path to do an event, or just see the sights, or both, or even just going somewhere for giggles, and that's perfectly fine. Or perhaps I want to just see how I do with a different class, even if I have my own personal favorite (Tempest Elite specced Elementalist, btw).
    And by showing a friend I play a different game with this game, I may have attracted a new player to the game. And I will roll yet again a new character (a Mesmer) to go around the play through the base story and go through the rest of the Dragon Cycle expansions with her. Yes, she will not get the OG experience as she makes it through the original story, but she will enjoy it. Or just the soundtrack, which is top notch.

      The best part is that once you gear up at 80, that gear is relevant forever. No endless gear ladder for you to keep up with! The difference between exotic and ascended/legendary stats is only 10%,so you won't feel too bad if you never chase those higher tiers of gear. (Player skill matters more than the 10% increase in stats in this game)

  • @the404tavern
    @the404tavern 10 месяцев назад +2

    So one correction... there is NO stat difference between exotic and ascended or legendary. you just have to put in the corresponding stat gems. ascended and legendary have those stats baked in so u can put in stuff for fractals. thats it. no difference for raids or anything

    • @CalliKira
      @CalliKira 10 месяцев назад +1

      Exotic gear is like... maybe 5% worse on stat values. So it does matter... just a bit. The infusion slot is why they're needed for higher tier fractals.

    11:09 I can tell you: ESO is absolutely NOT doing well. Most veteran and loyal players have decided to turn their backs to the game and are moving on. The latest shut down of item gifting in the game is seen as the final nail in the coffin. It's one of the reasons GW2 is doing so well. A lot of ESO players are making the switch and as things stand now, they are going to stay.

      The combat and gameplay in GW2 feels better than ESO. ESO has better world building, but I came to realize it is the Elder Scrolls Franchise, not ESO, which I enjoy. I do like the voiced quests in ESO, but Guild Wars 2 is even better in the sense that both the NPC and your own character have voice actors in GW2. The reality is that many quests in ESO I find to be quite boring. And I have grown weary of subscription models. GW2 and New World are the only two MMO's that I've felt are true to a buy to play model, where you don't have to put out any money beyond what the game costs to enjoy a complete experience.

    GW2 get the best mature but also childish community members. I sometimes see life counseling in map chat and let me tell you, the counseling was wholesome. Ask anything in the map chat and there would always be someone who answer or dm you. There would even be a few people who would waste their time to help you personally. Every class and specs are viable to play, just pick your favorite. Doing crafting daily is actually rewarding since you actually need to max out most of your crafting disciplines to craft exotic, ascended and even legendary armors/weapons. Every activities are rewarded, even just by exploring the map. If you want to play the real casual MMO, GW2 is your answer. Try it and let me tell you that you would be overwhelmed by many options GW2 has.

    • @urud591
      @urud591 8 месяцев назад

      The FOMO is just shifted from gear/story to AP. If you are a completionist looking for achievement points, there is quite a lot of FOMO added in the last 2 years, in terms of collections and rare drops. Try to complete the Luxon collection doing Gyala Delve now, a map that has been added less than 6 months ago and that's already dead. The only reason why I keep buying the expansions is the FOMO.

    After playing FF14 for years and finally trying GW2 I'm actually mad that I wasted so much time on FF14 lol. It was an OKAY game when I got into it (during the Shadowbringers expansion) but the developers have dumbed the game down repeatedly to the point where its almost insulting but.. yeah thats their player base. GW2 has been such a fun game to play even from the very early game and literally everything they do is handled better than FF14 from glamours, to crafting, to inventory management, having no gear treadmill, fairly quick story and level progression.. I can go on but me and the people that have left FF14 recently have been loving GW2 and its been cool seeing how many new people are still flowing into the game even in 2024. I thought we'd be some of the last to get on the GW2 train but we've encountered tons of new players. Overall the game really respects your time, effort, energy, and its so dope how you can tailor all of the classes to meet many different roles and playstyles.
