    This is really cute! It might be really cool with rebinding a paperback into a hardback and doing this! A totally custom one of a kind book!

    So I just had to comment!
    Thank you for showing the whole process, I started edge painting books but it's so time consuming and I think I'll soon purchase a Cricut. Your video was very helpful

    If your clamps have a deep enough throat, put them on from the back, so they are not in your way. :)

    I love this tutorial so much! Have you ever tried this with multiple paint colors? For example, spraying the edges solid purple, laying the vinyl on top of that, and then spraying them again with solid black to create a multi-layer colored effect? I have several books I would like to do this to, but wanted to get some input before trying it out with layers.

    • @HeyLetsMakeStuff

      I have not. I've seen some people use small airbrushes to get a multi color look. I think what you're describing would also work and look really cool!

    my thing tho that i have a problem with is creating and sizing it to the book. I want to create my own designs so that i can add it to my favorite books, and then size them. how do I create the designs?

    • @HeyLetsMakeStuff
      @HeyLetsMakeStuff  7 месяцев назад

      I make my designs in Adobe Illustrator (see my free series here: ruclips.net/video/hNKfp1sQUEg/видео.html). I measure the size of the book when it's closed and make my design that size. You could also do it in Cricut Design Space or InkScape or another program.

    Did anyone else gasp out loud when she wasted those perfectly folded edges of the paper and just slapped tape all over the cover? Literally 2 scissor snips on each side and you would barely need any tape at all!
    In case you don't get what I mean: when you've folded the butchers paper to match the height of the book, fold in one side like she did and close the book (no tape) then look at where the spine is and snip those folded down flaps. Now open the book back up and rewrap that side with the cover INSIDE those top and bottom flaps. You can tape that in place if you want but the pressure of the clamps should keep it in place. Do the same for the other side and you'll be left with 2 narrow flaps at the spine - you could leave those folded down and tape the spine like she does here, or you can gently poke those flaps down into the spine gap. This way there may be a little bit of cover showing at the hinge that will need tape, but only little slivers so it won't matter if it's masking or even duct tape.

    • @HeyLetsMakeStuff
      @HeyLetsMakeStuff  Месяц назад

      Thanks for watching and sharing your method! The process may vary for each person (as well as the end result) and that's the beauty of crafting! I tend to use lots of tape for my crafts--especially sublimation!
