Emperor's new Groove, The Road to El Dorado, and Treasure Plante are films that were very well done but didn't come out at the best time. If they had been released only a year or two later, they would've been better recognized at the time.
I wish they'd revive their "Kingdom of the Sun" concept. An epic Inca fantasy musical? I'm so ready, especially if they play into Yzma and Kuzco's (or whatever their new names would be) mother-son bond and how they're both witty and antagonistic (but Kuzco changes his character).
This movie was originally gonna be an animated epic called The Empire of The Sun. I cannot possibly imagine a world where Emperor's Nww Groove did not exist.
One of my favorite childhood Disney films tbh, (I loved comedy and Llamas(even before the Llamas took over)😅😂), and I think it paved the way for Lilo & Stitch as well!
Soo funny. Love this movies. I quote it ALL THE TIME. My favorites to quote are "Beware the groove", "First I will turn him into a flea, that put that flea into a box, and put that box into a box, and mail that box to my self, and then smash it with a hammer. Ah hahaha" and "I go turned into a cow"
I didn't saw it when it got aired, 'cause I was unborn, but I liked it very much when I saw it, but only over time I started really apretiating it and saw how underrated it was
I have always loved The Emperor's New Groove, having had it on DVD in the late 2000s. I was a little too young, to have recalled seeing it cinemas. And I played the video game before I saw the film, plenty of years before. But I think it is a cool film, despite the little amount acknowledgement it gets. And personally, I like Kronk's New Groove, but I respect your opinion. Also have loved a load of Disney films from the 1990s, especially The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Okay, THANK YOU! I've been saying THIS very thing about "The Emperor's New Groove" since FOREVER! So underrated! EVERYTHING about that movie is BRILLIANT! Much love from Western Massachusetts USA 🇺🇲 God bless you Brother!
Now I wanna hear your thoughts on Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame now that you’ve mentioned it! Ps Hunchback and Treasure Planet are my favourite Disney films.
glad you mentioned the whole development shift for the movie.. There is actually a documentary called 'the sweatbox' that is about how the movie changed and interviewing the crew and stuff.. Love love love this movie and the kronk sequel, along with the show
The newer Disney movies definitely have funny jokes still, but this is the last film I can remember that had so many solid jokes back to back (except maybe The Road to El Dorado)
This movie is still the funniest movie I've ever seen. Me and my dad still quote this movie to this day. Whenever I get upset I just "Smash it with a hammer!" Or when I can't make a decision "Which one, which one." I humm to myself.
I absolutely adore this film, and I definitely think it's the funniest Disney film to date. Personally, I don't think I've laughed quite as hard at anything else they've put out since, and I will forever love it.
4:58 ah, the rennaissance. You know, I remember the advertising for this film, and it wasn't clear that something was wrong with disney until u gt 2 the advertising for atlantis the lost empire when the only advertising I remember was on a frosties box and on a video!
Although I never saw this film when it first came out (cos at the time I was "too old for cartoons!), I saw it during my first year of uni in 2005, and I actually enjoyed it!
i remember liking this film fairly well on release, i don't think we saw it in the theatre though, but i'm also not from the more recent generations, anyway glad it wasn't a musical, and never saw the sequel or the cartoon show
Pocahontas is a lot of things, but forgotten isn't one of them. Her being a part of the Disney Princess lineup is enough of an argument. The movie is almost always the first reference (right or wrong) when it comes to indigenous depictions in media. Also, people always compare it to Avatar (one of the highest grossing films ever). Even Hunchback (which the company is making a live action version of) is arguable about it being forgotten.
I know I'm late, but I'm up to share my thoughts on the movie. And, to be honest, I wasn't really a fan. I have family members who love it but I just never got into it. I don't really know why, nothing about it was bad and it well liked by everyone I know. But for some reason I didn't like it. Maybe I came into it with too high of expectations and it ended up letting me down.
Critical disappointment? The heck are you about? According to rotten tomatoes it got overwhelmley positive reviews! Not to mention it was only a bomb if u only consider domestic gross Ok fine even including the international gross it wasn't a success, but it wasn't a bomb either
Can we just say this is most underrated Disney movie this is!
The Emperor's New Groove is DEFINITELY the funniest Disney movie in my opinion.

"The Road To El Dorado" so much YES! "The Prince Of Egypt" was THAT Disney?
I think this is One of the franchises where the film, sequel and TV show are all good
We can agree he the only character that was close to a villain redemption arc
What about stitch? Or silver? Or kenai?
@@Thegravedigger0 who silver or kenai?
@@arandomthingintheabyss2062 Watch Treasure Planet and Brother Bear, you won't regret it.
I just want to point this out
This RUclipsr is soo god damn underrated. Every time i watch his vids just make my day.

And yes i also love this movie
oh my god YES, thank you for making a video on this film!! i really love this so its amazing to see other people love it as much as well

remember all those over exited girls at the begining cheering kuzco on ? yeee i was one of them

Mine are “Pull the lever, Kronk!” and “WRONG LEVER!!!”
I didn't saw it when it got aired, 'cause I was unborn, but I liked it very much when I saw it, but only over time I started really apretiating it and saw how underrated it was
I did watch the show that was made from this movie and it's actually good, but i suggest checking it yourself.

I miss this type of Disney humor and sarcasm. The movies from the last 5 years or so just aren't as funny in my opinion.
The newer movies are goofier than they are witty
The newer Disney movies definitely have funny jokes still, but this is the last film I can remember that had so many solid jokes back to back (except maybe The Road to El Dorado)

Smarty pants is killing it he’s making videos about my childhood
Loved this movie when it came out (I was in my mid to late teens), love it even more with each year.
I absolutely adore this film, and I definitely think it's the funniest Disney film to date. Personally, I don't think I've laughed quite as hard at anything else they've put out since, and I will forever love it.

Yzma was the star of this show. God, there will never be another voice actress like Eartha Kitt 🖤
Funny enough this film has always been very beloved in Brazil, with some of the best dub.
Although I never saw this film when it first came out (cos at the time I was "too old for cartoons!), I saw it during my first year of uni in 2005, and I actually enjoyed it!
I can not tell you how much I quote this movie
Push the like button, Kronk! *accidentally presses dislike button* Wrong button! Why do we even have that button?
This scene will always be iconic
Can’t argue with that. The lever scene never gets old.
