    I am a beginner and saw this beautiful snowflake. I just made the first ring in a size 30 crochet thread. It's so dainty! I love it! Thank you for this pattern. I am going to make lots of these in various sizes.🥰

    You make it so easy to understand. Thank you. You taught me something new about tatting with embroidery floss. Yea, something new to try. Those colors are yummy. Btw, they have picot gauges that you can purchase that can help make your picots nice and consistent. Keep up the great videos.

    Just wanna say I landed on your tutorial. Nice job giving detailed visual. However anyone following along…unless you wanna get frustrated don’t use embroidery floss. The strands slip on each other too much and get caught in your flipped knot. I tried and tried for days frustrated I got out crochet thread and had a snowflake in a couple hours.

    I love tatting. I have tatted for years. I do both needle tatting and shuttle tatting. It's absolutely wonderful and very relaxing to do. I take pride in everything I make You have to have that talent to just get it right. I'm sure you'll love it the more you do

    You mentioned how someone came up with tapping. I think it was originally the way they first made fishing nets.

    Does it matter how you wind the shuttle? Every video I watch the thread is either coming out the same side as the little sharp edge up top on the shuttle or from below and it's confusing me

    • @Penguinandfish
      @Penguinandfish  10 месяцев назад +1

      you want to hold the shuttle with the little hook pointing upward towards you, then wind counter clockwise. When you hold the shuttle to use, the thread will be coming out the back of the shuttle (not the hooked side) and away from you. Hope that makes sense. Then as you need more thread, unwind a bit, and end up in the same position with the thread coming out the back and away from you.

    I'm anxious to try this! Is there only one size shuttle? Why different colors?

  • @deac5749
    @deac5749 3 года назад

    I need to confirm how much thread you are loading on the shuttle to make this snowflake. I think you said 4 meters (as in close to 12 feet?). Please confirm this, or correct me if I have the wrong length. I want to do this ASAP. Looks like so much fun.

    • @ritacline4375
      @ritacline4375 2 года назад

      It's a little more than 12 feet. A meter is about three inches more than a yard.

    I am trying to do your snowflake I’m just down the third loop or chain and I ran out of thread can you please tell me or show me be really lovely how to rejoin it up with a new one so I can keep going on to making snowflake or will I just Cut off it off there and restart another one no I don’t know I am enjoying your lessons because you do it so slowly I am a very very raw beginner like I’ve been doing for five days . there is no easy patterns on the Internet for a beginner like me and other friends who are trying to do shuttle tatter’s and I love when you put it on RUclips I’m sorry I can’t watch it live because my Internet is not very good here in Tasmania in my area other people around I’ve got very good Internet just a bit annoyed . hope you have a wonderful day.

    I did this and ran out of thread. How do I add more?

    • @sharronwendt6307
      @sharronwendt6307 Год назад

      There is a RUclips channel called Frivole that has many helpful videos. As much as I dislike to recommend a (competitor?) I am sure she has videos about adding a new thread.
