I always thought guinea pigs were like little cats. I used to own cats all my life until I got my first guinea pig in 2007. Since then I've had guinea pigs only. Started noticing how much they are like cats soon after that. They've even been domesticated for as long as cats (5000 years).
Wow, you noticed that too. This is my first cat, so it was a revelation for me. We've had a dog for a long time, but it's completely different from both guinea pigs and cats

I’ve been watching this series with kitty & piggies at play. While the gut reaction is big time predator prey situation. These are domesticated pets clearly learning about each other in SUPERVISED play!! 👏👏 it is very cute to watch. It’s not beyond belief that growing up kitty will think of piggies as siblings. Always keep a keen eye but I think you have a rare bond in the making. 😁👍.
oh yeah, but close supervision is needed. It seems there is no aggression from the kitten yet, but we still keep the piglets in a separate room, where the cat does not go without us
Guinea pigs instinctually feel comfortable with something safe over them(initially momma pig, but eventually just cover from birds). Cats love having things around them they can look from, as hunting/pouncing spots. Boxes and bags give both! I love how the cat is carefully checking to see if the pig wants to play. Gentle poke, maybe? Minimal reaction, okay she'll leave and go elsewhere. Feelings not hurt. Your pets being careful is hilarious, because my pigs were too foolish for that. Walk off the end of the bed. Run into things. Forget about food right under their nose. The stray cat that has adopted me outside likes bushes more than boxes, and accepts being pet in certain ways she associates with food. She likes to lie down and get belly rubs, but not be approached for a pet. SHE will decide when the pets happen.
What a wealth of experience you have with different pets! Yes, our cat is still a kitten and she is still cautious around piglets. By the way, our dog is also a little afraid of guinea pigs and tries to hide from them

We didn't buy her, we found kitty in a dumpster. She was so hungry and in such need of someone that we couldn't resist
