- Making chicken legs this way is so much easier and in my opinion more delicious. There's more contact patch for the flavor and less time rolling them around.
Ingredients:
Chicken Legs
Avocado oil
Essential blend and Chicken Griddle seasonings (season liberally)
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic
Dash of essential blend

Man, The production quality has gone through the roof Hussy.
Thank you Nathan. I appreciate you telling me this. Stats hadn't been the best honestly and I'm trying harder to bring the best I can. It's nice that someone has noticed. Thanks!
I’ve never seen butterfly drumsticks!! Very interesting and they looked fabulous!! I thought I could actually smell the garlic butter through the video!! 😋 Great cook as always!! Cheers!! 🔥🔥🔥👊🏼👍🏼🍻
Yes Sir good groceries. Definitely digging the butterfly legs.
Great job on the chicken, and the Maggie Cam is a success!!
I can`t wait until I can get my Blackstone out of storage and get back to cooking on it and this will be the first recipe I'm going to try.
Great idea on filleting the drums. Love the Maggie cam. Some buff sauce....oh yea. Thanks Hussey.
I love the Maggie cam, it’s a neat point of view for your cooks
Oh My Gravy!!! How good does that look????? Thanks Matthew for another great Saturday 😊
Some of the best at home chicken legs ever!!! 😋
Great cook Hussey.
Thank you 😋
These look fun! Nice job. LOVED Maggie cam, keep it up.
That is the best video on chicken legs! Fast and easy. I like the way of telling us the temperature needed…most don’t tell us that. Do you make a cook book? Thank you Sir!
Thanks for watching! No cook book at the moment.
well I'm not normally a fan of legs but these look AMAZING!!
Looks so good n never thought about butter fly the chicken legs..I just bought another air fryer with grill n I try this. Ty for info.
Have good day.
From Judy
These look fantastic....get after it!!!
Loved video so far... Butterfly legs! Taco Seasoning, green pepper, onion and tortillas....
Thank you for making me realize the need to go buy some drumsticks. Lol. Seriously, that looks delicious. Enjoyed the Maggycam!
thats GENIUS my friend! why didn't I think of that??
Hussey, another winner. Just made this for dinner. Easy to do and very delicious. For seasoning I used McCormick Grill Mates Montreal Chicken Seasoning and Waltwins Usual Suspects. Wife did some spinach mashed potatoes and steamed cauliflower. Very good dinner. I sure enjoy yours and others videos and using my 22" Blackstone while RVing. Ron
I have not been on here in a while but looks delicious like always
Delicious looking and unique! Thanks Matthew
I have seen it all now, thanks for sharing ❤️👍❤️👍❤️
I have chicken legs. But have not tried to butterfly or cook yet……..this gave me some idea!!
I can't wait to make these!!! Always great groceries never disappoint ever🥰🥰Thank you for sharing it with all of us😊😊
Love the technique, Matthew! I'll be trying! Hi Maggi!
Hope you enjoy it my friend!
These look incredible!! I’m planning to try this method out on my Blackstone this weekend. Can’t wait!
Great idea thanks for sharing it with us
YOOOOO HH!! Sometimes I spatchcock a whole chicken and put in on my cast iron skillet! Good shit. All the way from, the West Coast...you got me SPRUNG!!
What a fantastic idea! Thanks!
The drumsticks are the best part of the whole darn chicken!!
Many are in that same camp!
Great idea!! Thanks for sharing!
Nice..great idea!!
I just had my first butterfly drumstick a couple of weeks ago. They're fantastic!
Brilliant! God bless love from Colorado
Thanks so much!@
I love the Blackstone SPG on chicken legs.
It’s good stuff!
Maggie cam!!!😂😂😂 Great cook! Awesome idea!
Looks good! As hard as I is to find wings, definitely something to try.
Hussey,
That’s a new way to cook up some chicken legs. They looked tasty. I see that you used some of those Blackstone spices you recently got in the mail. Thanks for the video.
Nice to see the Maggie-cam, too.
Have a great week.
Glad you enjoyed it my friend! Have gotten a few bad ticks on the Maggie cam.
Great video my friend Saturday morning February 19th👏NC
"Good night in the Morning" that looks like great chicken 🍗 !!
Interesting idea. Gotta give it a shot.
Good tip no matter how you’re cooking them really.
Thanks so much!
Thats a good idea!!!
Maggie Cam fully engaged
Looks so delicious.
Thanks Jonathan!
They said it couldn’t be done, but you just taught this old dog a new trick! Looked delicious. I love me some chicken legs now. Usually sous vide a slew of them and then finish on the grill, but this method is intriguing for sure. What do you think about removing the bone altogether to try to get better contact on the second side? Thanks for this awesome and innovative video. You never cease to amaze. Hope you’re feeling better after that ladder incident. Be well!
You could for sure remove the bone, but then that takes the handle off. 😂
@@thehungryhussey good point! I like my food to have handles. 🤣
This was a real good video Matthew I never thought of cooking chicken legs like that ! I just ( a month ago ) bought a holder that suspends the legs it might be a gadget but it's pretty cool .thank you Frank from montana..PS I'll send you a picture of it ....
Got the text my friend! That would do great on the grill for sure.
Making them as I'm commenting the butter and chicken is smelling amazing. They were fun to cut never would have thought to open them up I've always hated cooking chicken legs this will probably be my new go to for them!!!
How’d they turn out?
@@thehungryhussey really good definitely will be making them again will need to kick the heat down a touch next time burned them a little but not too much but it was also about 15 degrees out last night heat control was an issue haha
I’ll be. Never had that. Great tip. Thanks.
I completely debone the legs. Full contact on both sides. I debone the thighs as well for the same reason.
Be sure to take the bones and make bone broth!! It’s so good for you and it’s so good in many dishes especially gravy!!! Yum The bought stuff has too much stuff in it you don’t want!!
Will have to try this
Hope you can try it out!
Maggie Cam is all action all the time!
For whatever reason she wanted to stay there on the concrete.
MaggyCam! 👌🏼🖤
Look so good.
Thank you Josh!
Where did you get the meat thermometer/ temperature scanner? Great Channel. Love what you cook.
That's a Thermapen IR. It's a instant read thermo and a IR too. Love it and don't cook with out one. Here's a link - Thermoworks Thermapen IR - bit.ly/3vfBAFx
Chicken YUM!!
Look good
YUM!
nice technique.. ever thought about doing lollipop drumsticks?
I’ve done them before for the grill and they’re great. Problem with them on a griddle is the same as the chicken leg.
This looks amazing!!! About how long did it take to cook them?
You ought to make a good gryo on the Blackstone griddle
Maggie cam was a success👍
I agree! Though some folks didn’t think so.
Maggiecam plus good groceries yeah buddy.
Hola hussey 😋👍
Mathew... Those chicken legs really looked great. I will have to try them out soon, once our weather decides to cooperate and not snow about every 3 - 4 days. One thing that urks me though, is Blackstone coming out with all these new flavors of seasonings. I live in the Denver, CO metro area and there are like five Walmart Super Centers within like 15 miles of me. I don't know who at Blackstone handles the stockage of new items and seasonings in the Walmarts. But they need to find someone new to do the job. That is like when they released the new 17 inch E-Series griddle last year. I was checking all five of my usual Walmarts. Then one day I was returning home from a visit to our VA Hospital and I passed another of our Walmarts, one I normally never shop at. So I decided to check there, turned out they had one in stock. So the sixth time must have been the magic number, I bought it and out the door I went. Maybe the next time you happen to meet up with Todd Toven you can express the frustration us non-RUclips Blackstone users have getting their new products. Again love watching you fix some Good Groceries.
Sorry to hear about the sticking issues my friend. I’ve heard of other areas having similar issues and others seem to be fully stocked.
Love Maggie
nice!
Thank you my friend!
Good Morning Brother now I never would have thought of that I LOVE dark meat 🍖😋 Yummy Yummy Thank you so much love you Brother Take Care ❤
Seems like it would be better to put the open side down first? To get the better contact with the griddle first?
Possibly. I go with the widest, but your way could possibly work.
Huss. If you don't have a lid on your griddle what can you do instead, or is the lid not essential in cooking these successfully? Just curious bcs I want to try these.
You can use any kind of lid or steaming dome. Blackstone makes a large one, but I've seen folks use those aluminum hotel pans (half or whole) to use for a lid.
Awesome legs! But, forget the Maggie Cam…
Interesting. How come?
Hello from Germany🤜🤛 . Cool🍗🍗🍗🔥🔥🔥👍. I cook many in Dutch Oven
or in Kazan (cast iron pot from Asia). Do you also know Kazan pot?
greeting🤝
Sounds great, never heard of that though!
Hello. I have few videos with Kazan ( wok). Only to recommend🥘🔥👍
What do you have blocking your grease "trap" ? and why ?
It’s a homemade metal blocker
What temperature are you on?
375° top I’d say.
👍🏾
Hussey, you're going to have to work on that Maggie cam.
First time doing it bud. It’ll get better.
Just curious but how much is Maggie charging for her video services? I'm sure she is charging a wing and a chicken leg 🍗! 🤣😆😂🐕
😂 She wanted payment in samples!
Hey Hey, why not debone the drumstick? You are almost all the way deboned.
Lose your handle then.
What beats crispy chicken? Nothing!
What’s the point of making it quicker if you spend all the extra time butterflying lol
There’s a few things.
Butterflying them takes less than a minute for each if not less.
Butterflying them helps create more surface area and more browning, for more flavor.
Hope that makes some sense.
Gotchaaa buddy
Man.. I like the butterfly chicken idea. But just shaking Mr Jims and Aunt Dickies all over everything is the most laziest way to cook. Its a bottle of crap. Use chicken breast next time. The bone stops the contact patch from contact patching.
Alrighty then! 😀
WHE N YOUR TALKIN COOKIN YOU LEAVE OUT THE BLACKSTONE ACCCESORIES
Then I get a flood of comments that I'm being a salesman. 😛
What are you interested in and I could help?
