Your absolutely right about older cars having a certain charm that their modern counterparts just don't seem able to match. In some respects it's like cars have gone backwards. 😅 Love your camera work James. I've spent a few years watching lots of RUclips car content and consistently asked myself, how did they achieve that shot? Content may be king but there is definitely art in the presentation.
I emjoyed the fixes to this video quite a lot :) My favourite was how fast it is going backwards. ..and i love the car. A horrendous amount of money for an old car, but it is lovely :)
I love that. I can’t afford two cars, if I could and could pick any vehicle to have in the garage for nice weather, something like this would be a dream. So raw and classic. Just looking at take me back to my childhood (born in 76). The owner of this car has created something special.
I was waiting for some Star Trek style repeats once you mentioned the issues, but a reverse shot took my by surprise. Took me a few seconds to realise, at first I was questioning how it was going so fast in reverse XD
😅😂🤣. Love the random carpet run derby clip. That shag ain’t got nothin’ on that Porsche, lol. Great review. I love that people are willing to make a car what they want, and give two birds about what others think.
Didn't notice anything. I agree with your roll cage view. You need all three or none: cage, fixed back seat, harness. Each one is dangerous in a crash without the others. And if you have no helmet, make sure the harness is very very tight. All are pointless in a road car anyway.
Carpet, what are you talking about!? I'll presume that's a typo. The council really need to do some maintenance on that road, you can't see the road markings for the vegetation, grass mainly by the looks of it (it's a bit washed out to really see). I imagine they must have coasted down there just to get the shot for us, but they could have reused audio from an earlier clip. As you say, losing traction on grass doesn't result in tyre squeal, I really don't expect details like that to be missed on this channel! Very shoddy editing!!! :)
Magnus has/had? a clothing line, basically dresses you like he does. Funny thing is, that was how me n the rest of the punks dressed in junior high/high back in the early mid 80s, other than that we had unlaced high tops on. So wtf would I want to spend too much coin to look like the tramp I was as a kid? Guy's a tool, plain n simple.
The disclaimer made it even funnier 😂😂 Apparently this air cooled 911s have 4 reverse gears too as the Europa could have had. This video goes straight to my favourite playlist. I must come to this and watch it again every few months
That was funny. Great vid, loving the cleverly-manipulated drive-bys. Fantastic car - that engine note is worth the money all by itself. All the kudos in the world to the owner for such a project - truly one of a kind.
Spectacular car. You can just picture it flying down A and B roads on the continent. It really takes you back in time, or back in some way, perhaps to a childhood dream. Really quite beautiful. :) You mentioned some issues filming the drive-bys, but I think they worked out well enough given fewer shots to choose from. I would say unnoticeable with the exception of the clip near the end that lacked the colour contrast to really show off the car against the wood in the background, but given your issues its inclusion is understood. I presume you would have re-shot that clip had the car not developed its issue, it was sounding a bit off by that point :)
Dang!. What a great street legal track car!. very well built and I suppose a blast to drive as well. Sounds delicious!. Love the front air dam and rear duck spoiler as well. Suits this ca of its era.
Such a dream car of mine :) The ultimate dream would be a Gunther Werks. In my opinion, I would like to see more cars like this, I love the old 80s, 90s but I would like to see some rally specs cars or engine swaps. Something a bit different. Really love the Porsche footage lately Thank you :) Btw the backwards part and toy car was funny :)
Interesting car, thanks J! That bolted cage setup near your head, could it have been welded instead, or is it the period look? Family tartan a nice touch, & German car, driver has a Spitfire shirt. Nice exhaust sound!
The bolts and flanges in the top corner of the A pillar looks really dangerous to me. I wouldn't really feel comfortable driving that without a helmet. But as was said in the video is it a work in progress so maybe that'll be addressed.
Hi James, really enjoy your vids (very subtle cuts in this one 😁). I have a Carrera 3.0 here in Australia and am keen to know what mirrors those are on John’s car. Are you able to let me know or find out? Appreciate any assistance you can provide.
Never mind the backwards shot and the model 911 one section with the camera mounted on the bonnet looked like the car was actually being pulled along on a trailer? Was that an insert done after it broke down?
Last time I heard of a Porsche in reverse at that speed it ended up in a tree 🤔 Quite relieved that it was just a bit of 📽 trickery (not the only part, obviously). Looks and sounds awesome. No point in asking what the speedo reading was at a certain point 😁
The “glitches “on display in the video after the rather deadpan delivery in the intro lays bare a sense of humor as dry as the Mojave. Takes me back to “Grigio A F”.
I could not drive that car, I’d be staring at the roll cage bolts just in front of my head…weld in would be better. Having said that, what a car!…never saw the glitches 🤣
James been a while since you done a long video talking into camera various car topics mclaren reliab… New Lotus… What about a long discussion on the car market atm Chip shortage Values going back to normal …. Interesting to see your opinion And the new wider London ulez and future ulez planned …
8:45 Why would a full roll cage be dangerous on a road cage? I mean, the only thing I can think about is the weight distribution being moved upwards, which woul lead the car to be more prone to, ironicaly, being rolled. But would it actually make any relevant difference,? Or... what am I missing?
Have you ever been in a car with a full roll cage? Simply getting in and out of a car with a full cage is a pain in the ass, cracking your head off it either getting in or out happens all the time, and then when you're driving without a helmet and proper harness, you run the risk of bashing your head off it. Vital safety item for race cars, but for the road? A bit overkill, halfcages are more than adequate for fast road cars.
I'm abit shocked at the driving style in that, erm....... "those" "fly-by!" lol..... however I'm sure no-one will ever notice what I'm referring to....
What on earth is it going to be? Is it going to compete? Why the roll cage with a road car interior? No significant engine work? Are Momo and Martini on board with it? What's with the home made number plate? A dog's dinner.
Utterly seamless. If it hadn't been for disclaimer up front I doubt I'd have ever noticed the cut.
I didn't even notice it.

JayEmm, your deadpan intro meant that I truly Laughed Out Loud when your 'fix' appeared in the video. Nice one! :)
Just found the glitch, not gonna tell where but that was quite a giggle. It's fine tho.
11:05
Hahahha
That’s funny
What the hell did I just see. Lol 🤣😂🤣
Glitch in the matrix!
That's one hell of a gearbox and the exhaust sounds superb going around the door!

I usually don't comment and like. But that toy car footage won me over.
Glad somebody appreciated it :)
I was waiting for some Star Trek style repeats once you mentioned the issues, but a reverse shot took my by surprise. Took me a few seconds to realise, at first I was questioning how it was going so fast in reverse XD
That was exactly what I was thinking, that he was going to do the classic star trek flip the shot horizontally and call it a day.
Finally you've come to your senses and started driving on the right side of the road. Just turn the car other way around and you're golden.
😅😂🤣. Love the random carpet run derby clip. That shag ain’t got nothin’ on that Porsche, lol. Great review. I love that people are willing to make a car what they want, and give two birds about what others think.

A thing of beauty ❤️
Yep it looks like one of my old Toka cars with those decals…. but WOW x
Now that’s commitment to viewer honesty! well done jay I’m sure everyone really really appreciates it.

Love the 'fixes' made it for me great review as always
Nice car. I was also reminded of Flash Gordon (1936 version) which has to be a good thing too.
Watched it from beginning to end and didn't notice a thing, just another high quality video as always. Keep em coming Jay 😂

Dangerous ..unless you’re wearing a helmet all the time.
