    I met Jarrod in San Diego. I'm one of those southern, no bs guys, and I got along great with him. Super cool guy, very intelligent, and I was honored to have met him. I'd say that he is a prime example of the personalities that embrace vanlife (humble). Best of wishes on your adventures!

    I've been in my small van for 5 years. Looked at all different options for my next vehicle and a 4x4 ambulance has my vote. They are so cool. Only downside is the headroom. After not being able to stand in my van I really want something I can stand in... But this is a nice home sir. Goodluck.

    Jarrod's ambulance is Awesome! I think these are the best conversation vehicles out there. I would love to own one of these except I live in NYC, and our regular ambulances used for saving lives can barely get thru the traffic let alone me using one leisurely. LOL! Great tour Rav! And thanks for including the EXTERIOR of the vehicle. A lot of people do these tour videos and never show the outside. I know you're frustrated with RUclips, but you have a lot to offer, so keep going. You're finding your niche. 👍🏽😃

    Buying a ambulance is so smart because they are already insulated great and the storage inside and out and they are built to last and take wear and tear so this is the perfect home on wheels! and this one is built perfectly.

    • @reidcrosby6241
      @reidcrosby6241 Год назад

      Insulation is NOT ideal. I have numerous manufacturers "boxes" here. They mostly insulate just for noise dampening. The units are designed to heat and cool actively from a/c units and heaters known as "mini splits." I am building out one curreny that is stripped down to the framing. I will use closed cell spray foam

      Its a great deal of work to dismantle and you do lose space behind already installed cabinets. They leave a lot of space in between wall and cabinet. Not always the best choice over a clean van.

    If you buy an ambulance, it’s illegal in many states to have the red lenses. On the lens, you will find a series number and perhaps the mfg. You can find clear or amber replacement lens on Ebay. There are usually just 4 screws to replace them.

    That is one beautiful vehicle! Where did you get it?
    15:43 - did you add those black Velvac mirrors to it, or did it come with those? Very good mirrors!
    15:37 - Also love that chrome grille in front. What is its function? Did you add that on?
    18:54 - I would use this cabinet for a shower. It would mean removing some cabinets on other side, but... you will have advantage of extending your shower room out a bit with a possible slide out potty below. Potty can slide out from under a cabinet on inside or be elsewhere. If you put the shower in front, you have to mess with existing wiring and circuit boxes, not easy and dangerous near water.
    19:11 - The one thing I would do differently from you, is the platform bed. Why do you need a garage underneath with so much external storage, esp to store trash? Trash under bed is not healthy. The bed prevents an open feel and access from rear. The bed blocks the rear cabinet from being used as a shower. The bed would be better off being a slat pull out style from the installed long bench seating inside. This layout will give you a open feel and much more functionality and invite people in.
    With the 4 x 4 wheels what is your mpg on this rig? Would it be very different without the 4 x 4?
    Regarding the batteries, here is a tip: I saw another Vanner use recycled Nissan Leaf Lithium batteries. Apparently they were still in great shape, but no good on a car. At 55 amps and 8V each, she got 440 watts of Lithium for $1140 total and they worked just fine. Look into that. Its a huge savings.
    Very nice rig and you did a great job! Thanks a lot for the tour!

    Ive seen a few videos on his rig and Im surprised he hasnt figured out his shore power system yet. He has no need to unplug his inverter and plug in an extension cord. The white receptacle just aft of his propane locker, right by the Emergency logo, is a shore plug which is wired directly to the inverter. It is most likely a Vanner 1050CUL inverter/charger so when he hooks up to a shore power source, it powers the inverter and charges his batteries all at the same time. Granted its only a 15a 120v passthrough but unless you plan on running 2 microwaves at the same time, you should be fine. I wired the shore power plug on my ambo build into a transfer switch so I could add an on board generator without having to run an external cord to the shore plug.

    I love builds like this, but that “toilet” literally RIGHT NEXT to the stove, is grossing me out....
    Diesel heater and cubic mini combined (so you can use wood when possible, or diesel fuel when not) is the way to go in my opinion... yes, that means you need to find someplace to put the wood stove in an already cramped interior...
    PS. Remove the emergency lights and the markings indicating it is an ambulance... even if you are in a location that doesn’t mandate it by law, there are legitimate reasons why so many states DO mandate it... leaving it marked as an ambulance is totally uncool!

    • @NOMADNEWSTV
      @NOMADNEWSTV  5 лет назад +1

      I'm on the verge of just deleting my channels and stopping/quitting the whole RUclips thing. Tis is my last attempt to see if I can make something work. I'm gonna try everything Nomad on this channel under the umbrella of Nomad Nation and see if I can get something to take off and stick and then possibly eliminate the others. I've been banging my head against the wall with this channel and my other one. I recently took 2 months off, I filmed this video months ago but was so uninspired I never felt like editing it and uploading it. Now, I am having the only success I've ever had on this channel thanks to Jenelle Eliana so I am gonna try everything under the sun to see if I can make this work. With this channel and my other channel, I have been trying this RUclips thing for 13yrs. I made a deal with myself New Years this year. If I can't get to 10,000 subscribers by New Years 2020 I'll just get a real job and delete the channels and move on with my life. It's not looking good on the 10K subscribers so I am just trying whatever I can to see if I can get anything to take off. I have five months. I just got a real job

      @@NOMADNEWSTV Keep going man! success and failure go hand in hand. You can definitely hit 10,000 subscribers soon. You are right there, this build is epic, your content is great as well. I'd love to see some videos of even short trips kind of edited together showing day to day life, challenges, ideas, and just talking about your experiences. The realness shows through, and you have something special going on. I feel if you keep going, you may be on the brink of success for your channel (Nomad News)
      One thing that really drives traffic is these super long comments, multiple video tags, and regular uploads on a particular day/time. Thanks for the excellent channel!

      @@xaviere.2071 So, far that's the only thing that I have uploaded anyone has paid attention to. They honestly are the easiest videos to create, but I am a real VanLifer living in a retired SnapOn truck and so many subs have subscribed for that content. We will see but you def maybe right

    I'm afraid I do not understand why you still have the stickers showing this to be an emergency vehicle! Aren't you setting yourself up for a possible lawsuit!? I love the ambulance but I don't like it still looking like it is an operating ambulance...

      Stickers aren’t a violation, you are supposed to cover or change the color of the emergency lights
