    For those wondering why the Power Pole isn't listed as being larger, it's because its default height is extremely short. Even when stretched to the Moon, the thickness of the weapon would still give it a comparably teeny volume.

      @@f-22raptorlandingzone30 it makes... sense in context. somewhat. It's from the movie, right at the end, actually, final boss fight tier stuff, so, you know, **SPOILERS**. I do recommend watching at least the movies, especially as the movies were released later so the animation team one-upped themeselves, and turned Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann into SUPER Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, but I do also recommend giving the series a watch as the movies skip a lot.
      things escalated in the second movie/act from giant flying mech on giant flying mech fights until you had mechs piloting death star sized mechs, to fight the "Anti Spiral" a being who in the interests of not destroying reality in some nebulous future swore to destroy all spiral energy using races... which includes Humans. Due to plot, they then combined all the death star sized mechs and a metric fuckton of spiral energy into one giant mech, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann that could walk on galaxies like stepping stones and throw them like shuriken, (because TTGL's themes include making constant progress in spite of hardship, evolution of the self, and working together to overcome said hardship, as a sort of counter/response to Evangelion) then the humans lost, which led to everyone manifesting their own Tengen Toppa mechs, then the Anti Spiral shot the motherfluffing Big Bang at Team Dai-Gurren (what the protagonist team called themselves)... so then the spiral king, act 1's villain, whose head was being used as a supercomputer remanifests his body, remanifests his Mech, the Lazengan, and in a crowning moment of awesome suffers quantum breakdown to convert the entire Infinity Big Bang Storm attack into a giant drill of spiral energy that then led to the Protagonist combining all the Tengen Toppa Mechs into one final Mech to end all Mechs: Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, who could use the milkyway galaxy as his bootsoles.
      then the Anti Spiral matches them, and they summon the Giga Drill Breaker, a sort of ultimate finishing move, which absolutely dwarfs fluffing *everything*, which causes the Anti Spiral to do the same, and get into a... 'Beam clash'? you know, where two blaster superheros shoot lasers at one another and try to force the meeting point of the two lasers back towards the other guy, but it's drills. so a Titanic Drill Clash that dwarfs all human imagination by orders of magnitude.
      and that's the story of how the STTGL Giga Drill Breaker came into being and was used.

    • @dutch_asocialite
      @dutch_asocialite 10 месяцев назад +14

      @@f-22raptorlandingzone30 The thesis of Gurren Lagann's heroes - that is to say, Simon and company - is to keep moving, keep growing and keep evolving, to build on the past to face the future - embodied in the story's McGuffin, Spiral Power, which becomes exponentially more powerful the more something "evolves" - whereas the villain's goal - that is to say, the Antispiral and Anti-Spiral race - is to stifle progress and growth in others because they fear the catastrophe that might happen if it's unfettered.
      Inadvertently, they also posses reality warping powers and can match the heroes by copying their moves, necessitating the heroes to go bigger, eventually culminating in a battle where they throw galaxies at each other; the fight itself culminates in the Super Tengen Toppa Gurre Lagann (STTGL) and Super Granzeboma colliding their Giga Drill Breakers against each other tip-to-tip (and causing the universe they're in to experience a Big Crunch) until the STTGL's drill breaks, only for the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann inside to pick up where it left off - this downscale continues until Lagann is left to deliver Simon and Nia right on the Antispiral's doorstep and finish the job face to face.
      In this way, the drill is central to Gurren Lagann's symbolism as it embodies growth and change: as the drill turns, the force of its movement is focused from its wide base into its tiny tip, exponentially increasing its speed and allowing it to pierce and move through matter, symbolising how one may be refined into a fine point. The Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the final form of this idea, as it's comprised of every major (smaller) Gurren Lagann before it (in descending order of size: the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann, the Arc Gurren Lagann, Gurren Lagann and finally Lagann) and thus functions as a drill itself as it goes from 100x the universe sized robot to little bigger than a man to circumvent the Atispiral's ability to mimic (since it can't create).
      As overrated as it is, it's a really damn good show and I recommend it.
      Tl;dr: It's a personified form of Gunbuster's Hard Work & Guts

      Oh, and if you have a really low military score, it also blows up Earth.

      To play devil’s advocate…
      Aren’t they supposed to be Gyrojet designs? Where the projectiles are rockets themselves, meaning that they gradually accelerate past the barrel, making recoil more of a moot point?
      It also depends on the velocity of the round in question. While the large round may not help, firing at subsonic velocities could keep recoil low, whereas if velocity was more in line with, say, 7.62x39mm, THEN recoil could knock an average human back.
      It also depends on how heavy the boltgun is; if it weighs about as much as an M2 Browning (~80 lbs), it doesn’t help in portability, but it DOES help in recoil management. The inverse is true if it’s about as heavy as a particularly heavy GPMG (read: 40 lbs)… not that the space marines would care.

    • @90lancaster
      @90lancaster 11 месяцев назад +4

      I take it Earth Doesn't exist any more in that franchise then as Jupiter sucks in all the comets and such and keep a lot of nasty stuff out of the inner solar system if Jupiter was removed the inner rock worlds would get bukkaied by giant killer rocks on a more regular basis. & that that is even ignoring the solar systems mechanics being completely messed up by the removal of one of the largerst Gravity wells. The earth & Moon are barely holding fast to each other as it is such a disruption would be "unpleasant" or even completely fatal to Earth.

    In Halo lore, Installation 04 is part of a specific set of Halos called the Neoteric Array. Before them, there was the Senescent Array, which was said to be around 3x larger than the Neoteric but much weaker (Installation 04’s diameter is around 10,000 kilometers while Installation 07 [before it’s reconstruction into the Neoteric Array] was abound 30,000 kilometers). Also it’s a shame you didn’t include any Ace Combat superweapons as there’s many good examples (Stonehenge, Chandelier, The S.O.L.G., Megalith)

    Nyoi-Bo, this staff's main feature of course is it can extend super long and the staff didn't orginally come from Dragonball, it actually belong to an old chinese Deity, the Monkey God~ Sun Wu Kong.
    So Akira Toriyama referenced Dragonball from Chinese Folklore, thus the concept of the entire series.

      I would say it casts a shadow, but you probably have to look closely in order to spot the difference in color between the things that are lighted by sunlight and saber-light both, as opposed to those lighted only by saber-light because the saber is blocking sunlight from hitting them.
