As a new golfer from this year, having a rundown of what arccos is and how it works would have been nice, there have been a ton of covid golfers like myself that are now looking at tools, ressources and review but finding basics of what those tools are and how and why they work is really hard to find.
The Arccos website itself has great information and q&a that will explain the technology. Also the first video on this channel is with the CEO of Arccos Sal Syed. Check that one out!
Great episode and Lou is awesome! Love Arccos! Many interesting pieces of information. One thing on the proposed roll back (and I’m not for or against it at the moment…I need to dig more and see all sides before making a decision - unlike many of the pros on RUclipsrs who are just latching onto one thing to support their argument). To that end, Lou pointed out that the gains in distance, as told to him directly from the USGA, has been due to the player (bigger, stronger, younger, better fitted)…I think you guys missed the point there. That’s exactly why they are attacking the ball. They can’t tell players don’t workout, or don’t swing as hard, or don’t get fitted. They have no control over the player and how they train. So not sure how you guys took that to support the argument that the ball isn’t the issue. Personally, my current feeling is golf courses can do more to make it more difficult for the longer hitters without sacrificing the course designer’s intent. Don’t want 360 yard drives? End you fairway at 325…make it super narrow as you get closer to the green. Some mention thicken the rough. However, that was tried a number of years ago and players revolted as it was increasing the possibility of wrist/hand injuries. But, they can make the thicker rough farther down the fairway and lighter rough closer to the tee…don’t want to thicken the rough? Add more and more bushes, shrubs, obstacles in the rough farther down the fairway and closer to the fairway…these things wouldn’t cost too much to do, doesn’t increase the demand on watering, fertilizing, etc (especially if you truncate fairways, narrow them, or add boulders, natural habitat in the rough…Another thing people don’t really look at with guys hitting it longer…time…if you hit it 30 yards farther, that’s more time added to walk to your shot…especially since dispersion increases as distance does…so, even more time…I’m not against distance, but I think many are overstating it’s relevance/importance/excitement in the game…Much louder roars are head when someone holes out from 200 yards than when someone bombs one 375…in fact, from my experience at many PGA events, from 375 yards away, you can barely see the guy teeing off, especially on a dog leg…you just see a ball roll by. Watch th next PGA event…if someone bombs one, fans aren’t going nuts…long putts, hole outs from the fringe/fairway, and long irons get more attention and excitement when you are at the event…absent something like Bryson driving the green at Arnie’s, or Rory a few weeks ago, driving the green…
Hi, I bought used irons and they’re 1.5 inch longer than standard and 1 degree upright. I’m 5”10 and feel they’re too long for me and seem to be pulling them left. What’s your thoughts on this? Cheers. PS treble incoming Ian! 😂
Swing weights can be so misleading. I think head weight is far more important that grip weight. I play 1/2 in. over irons but with very heavy grips (84g). This takes swing weight down to about D0. But if I added another 6g of head weight to get to D3, they would be absolute sledgehammers.
Why did Arccos take away the handicap by category function? You used to be able to see you were a 10 driving and a 5 handicap putting. Also would be nice to see my relative handicap by club or distance.
The strokes gained statistics that you can compare to any handicap you choose is much much more useful and can be translated directly into training focus areas in a better way than the previous model. So be happy about the change and maybe use it to your advantage...
I want to see Rory to win the career slam. I think Scheffler is so effortlessly good and in form. I’d love to see a young guy get their first major. I also want to see Tiger make the weekend and play well. BUT to go out on a limb, I’ll pick Xander or Fitzpatrick
Just started the video but I’m hopeful Lou will be able to adjust to being on a podcast where he isn’t interrupted by Mark Crossfield every time he opens his mouth or teased for being trash at golf while simultaneously be a 2 index.
Unbelievable insight. Love that the stat to track isn't fairways, but having a reasonable approach into the green even if you're in the rough
#HackItOutGolf. Good to put a face to the voice I listen to on MC’s podcasts. 👍🏼
will arccos have an input for beverages consumed during a round? asking for a friend :)
Very enjoyable. Follow Lou’s newsletter. 😊
Arccos sensors came in the other day, first round of the year set for tomorrow, can't wait!
I'm so glad that I'm bad at everything so I never have to worry about wasting my time when I'm working on something 😄
Arccos is a fabulous tool. Data is your friend, so use it to your advantage.
Great podcast episode. Quite insightful

There's an 18 minute video on the "Breaking Eighty" channel which I found to be the best.
@@hawwes12 thanks I'll look it up!

This guy reminds me so much of Tony Covey.
Ok we need a TXG shirt, needs to say fairways are overrated.
My buddy is scared poopless of hitting the fairway but he makes sense now! 🐊

I don’t know for sure but I think it’s a copyright issue (see the menu where you can choose the handicap you compare yourself to).
