  • Part 2 dear people! Those of you who have watched the first episode know that this is part 2 of 3 in a short series documenting my attempts to make the most of this uncertain time by exploring and photographing the two very small gardens that I know I am lucky to have. This episode sees the surprise camera trap guest revealed and some more unexpected visitors.

    Hi Matt. I enjoyed your excitement with the badger. I'd had the same experience in late march, just at the start of lockdown. A family of badgers, started visiting my bird table. It been great watching them climb up to my bird table. And totally clear it. It's been a god sent to have this family of badgers, during these difficult times. Best of luck with your badgers.👍

    • @MattGouldphotography
      @MattGouldphotography  4 года назад +2

      Hi Michael!
      After reading your first line I wrote a very bad joke about flying badgers. I was disappointed to see you then explain that they climbed it as I had to delete the joke. However, that is incredible! I haven't heard much anecdotal evidence of their climbing ability, though I had heard they were meant to be good climbers. Amazing to have in your garden!
      And thank you! I think I will need the luck :D

    Hi Matt , loved the video as it is how I’ve been enjoying my free time too. Restricted to the garden makes you notice even more . All my flicker photos from late are just in the garden ,being still and seeing what pops up .i remember my first trail cam at the bottom of the garden expecting another deer and then the excitement of seeing my first badger and then all the clues falling into place , claw marks , trails through the wild part of the garden and of course my trip down the garden at 3am thinking cats were fighting with my trusty torch to protect me. Just to get very far from the house and hear the badgers fighting and thrashing though the undergrowth. Then the trusty torch dies , I’m in flip flops and shorts .. and sudden blackness , then all I hear is the heavy breathing of the culprits , vulnerable is the word I’d use for how I felt , Usain Bolt wouldn’t have beat me back to the house that night , flip flops or not 👀

      Hi Lee! Great anecdote! I have been charged by a badger in the dark before, I was apparently between it and its route back to safety but didn't know it and we both made each other jump :D. So I know the vulnerable feeling :D.

    About 10 years ago I ran out into the back garden at night armed with a fire poker because theives were trying to get in the back door. I went out the front door partially to attempt to surprise them via an alleyway. But as I stepped out of the front door two adult badgers ran round the corner play fighting and chasing each other. They had been in he back garden and play fought all the way down the garden steps and crashed into the back door. They didn't even notice me. Truly a privilege to see. And they continued to visit. They love plain peanuts. No salt etc. Some suppliment and some are stand by and watch animals cope. I may tinker now and then 😆
