    I remember reading something about this performance that Layne was nervous about singing the beginning of Sludge Factory because it was about Sony Records, and they were sitting in the front row. Layne kept messing up. Layne was juggling between Mad Season and Alice in Chains. Sony was pressuring him.

    In '94 Alice in Chains was supposed to open for Metallica, but they backed out because of drug problems. During that tour, Metallica did a lame cover of "Man in the Box" and Hetfield pretended to be shooting heroin. I wonder if Staley could have been addressing that? If he was, good for him because James Hetfield has been through rehab quite a bit himself. (Refering to the first verse)

      no, he died about 7 years of maybe 6. If you see the one with MTV Nirvana, Kurt killed himself 3 months after that, so maybe you have it mixed up? Layne virtually disintigrated into heroin and lost all his weight.
