Nice! This is the kind of tips I subscribed and watch for!! ~ You're one of the best! ~ Keep making RUclips better!! Yay! :D
I have ran into this multiple times , Same model. Never really figured it out. Some guys put an L shape piece of sheet metal in that corner. Seemed to help. But now I know what’s supposed to be there. Huge help , thank you.
OMG. I’m about to give up. But luckily I’m was just curious if someone have the same problem. Thank you sir.
Good find on the bad installation without proper grommets in place.
Super helpful thank you! We’ve definitely been “chasing” a water issue with our unit. Cleaned the coils, cleaned the drain line, still no hope in sight until I saw this video. 🎉
Thank you I keep having issues with these air handler. I notice the same water marks. But unfortunately I don’t have those caps. I need to find those.
I had that problem with a carrier air handler an couldn’t never figure it out. Thanks for the tip.
So would this lead to water being sucked up through the blower into the ductwork?
Good videos!! This type of problems are the most difficult to find if you never experienced them before.
Thanks for the golden tip and very good video.
very nice explanation of the problem and solution.
Great find.
Thanks for the tip!! Usually do vrf and refrigeration but good to know!!
That is great info to have for future calls
Nice catch
Nice catch good info thanks for sharing, a useful channel Appreciate your vids 👍👍👍👊
I was hoping you were going to show how to flip the end plate. I just did one where the installer never converted it and I was struggling to understand that diagram and hoping I did it correctly.
As a FAD carrier dealer. This is great info for me
Justin Jay Happy to help. Thanks for watching Justin!
Very good information!!!
I ended up calling Carrier and the first thing there tech said was the plastic caps on the end and sure enough they were not but there were actually still in the plastic bag with the paper work on to of the unit ! Haha it really does good to follow the install manual lol
If customer calls back which im sure they will... 😬😬😬 i will definitely check this next thanks for the tip
Does a Trane unit installed on its side have a similar design? I have been trying to help an elderly lady at our church who is having a condensate leak issue where some of the the water is dripping from seams in the cabinet into the drip pan. The drain line is not clogged and receives a good bit of the condensation, but she is collecting at least a gallon or more each day in bowls sitting under the unit. The unit is only 4 years old, but the company that installed it went out of business due to health reasons of the owner. She has had multiple HVAC professionals look at it, and nobody seems to be able to explain why all the water is not going down the drain. Like the one you describe in the video, her unit is one that creates negative pressure inside the cabinet, since the blower is positioned on the supply end of the cabinet. We live in NE Georgia, so very humid here in the summer. Thanks for the video, and I would love to hear your thoughts on my situation if you have time.
I would never even in million years figured that out, nice find
Nice catch . Very smart video. !
Great job brother, thanks for the info.

Very helpful vid my man! Thanks for the info.
WOW! I have been getting whooped by a 5 ton with the same issue , Thanks for the heads up, next time im there checking that
This could solve a problem I have with one unit. I'll keep an eye out next time I'm there ! Have been perplexed
Good info brother
Mike Williams Thanks Mike!!
Good deal !..... question.....I have a horizontal-right discharge Goodman unit. .....and get this....as you view the cabinet from the front access doors....the components are (left-to-right), the evap coil....the blower...and then the electronics/heater section. The coil, however, for Goodman units installed as horiz/right discharge....is that the "A" shape of the coil has the 2 wide-spaced legs of the "A" facing towards the blower (!).....NOT the expected reverse image. As such, I think the "Water" I'm seeing is from this coil dropping water from these high and low locations of the "A", ..... and not from cabinet condensation ( unit is located in a hot/humid unconditioned attic....so I will insulate the cabinet more just to make sure.....but I think I have this "internal" water problem too.). Any experience on these Goodman units with comments?
So, uh…..did you find a solution on the Goodman unit?!? I’m dealing with this currently on mine….
Great video good tip
Thanks for lesson
Cory Desormeaux Thanks for watching Cory!
Can you get those grommets if they are missing ?
Good find !!
I'll tell the truth, first one I ran into I had to go back twice to figure it out too.
Tilt that unit 1 inch higher on the back and you dont need to worry about the end caps.
🤦♂️😆
That is interesting.
Good to know thanks again
Every day is a school day
Cool
Did you put both of the caps in the front and the back?
Both rubber caps go on the back side of the coil only.
Nice
Nice shoe the repair also
There wasn’t anything to the repair besides sliding the rubber end caps back on. Picture at the end of the video shows them in place.
HVAC in SC ok cool that’s what I thought. I’ll check it out. Thanks I heard of units getting replaced because of the issue you described. I want know so if I bump into it my self. Once again thanks
My fault I stopped the video and didn’t see the last picture. That answers it thanks again.
High static water pulling off the coil ?
@@zacherytoone9957 No
@@HVACinSC I have a slant coil doing it I didn't see the water stains like yours just looks like it's literally getting pulled off the coil, maybe its a dirty coil or maybe its missing those things I'll have to look next time. The customers filter was wrecked and had the fan on high I changed the filter and turned it down we will see what happens. Noted it's been super humid here I live humidity is an average around 15 and has been in the 40-60s from monsoons
Ran into this today on a Rheem... kicked my a$$ 🥵
They die in 11 years
They can
It's more of a seal than cap to me
It's literally a rubber end cap. 🤷♂️
@@HVACinSC water was leaking passed the water trough because of missing gasket or seal.
Correct. Because of the missing rubber end caps as I show in the video
It's the language for me. "Cap" seems like too much of a basic word for the "ACTUAL" purpose of the parts description.
You're thinking way to hard about this bud. lol. It's just a press on rubber end cap that "Caps" the end of the trough. No different than the pressed on end cap on a gutter, cap on a duct connection, or a cap on a piece of pvc.
It's like discussing if the gas "cap" on your truck should be renamed a gas "lid" because it screws on. 🤷♂️🤦♂️😄
she's a leaka momma.
