I was lucky to find this mic used at Guitar Center. Mind blowing. It is indeed a bright, full, honest, natural, musical, smooth sounding mic. I’m loving it for voice over. It has zero sibilance, low noise, and a good output (unlike the SA87 where you have to crank the gain). It sounds very modern, but classy and natural and cuts through.
interesting mic and presentation! I tend to switch between a U47 (clone) for a warmer sound, and an AKG C414XLII for a brighter more present one. I see that they have this in stock on their website currently, and I'm wondering if it would fill a hole that I might need, in addition to the ever-present urge to buy new gear haha
Excellent review Mic has a very honest sound. I listened on the sound system in my Escalade(great system to check mixes) and the sizzle on the top end of the vocal was really nice, nice, touch, rolling footage of the unboxed scene while you sang and played guitar. That was really interesting and I’ve never seen anybody do that excellent multitask.!!!
You sound great! Would love to hear more with that mic. Very cool idea for an "87". I am a huge Jeff Buckley fan and have been since I heard the first spin of 'Grace' when it came out. Cheers!
I did highpass around 80Hz with a plugin. It has all the proximity you'd want so my apologies if that didn't come across! I really appreciate your kind words, I would like to do a Part 2 of this review eventually with more examples. Just wanted to get this one out as quick as possible before they are out of stock!
Hey Josh-We talked a bit about the sa-47 mk2 I'd just gotten when you demo'd one...I got the Stam Sa-87i. Love love it...Wish I could bring it over for you to demo, but I'm in NYC...Have you heard one yet? Great 87T video, as always my man...
Hey Alan! I haven’t heard one yet so I really appreciate you sharing your experience with it. I bet it’s great, I hope to get one to check out soon. All the Stam mics I’ve heard recently have been SO good 🔥
Wow, that thing sounds amazing on the vocal. Seems to hit all the sweet spots being warm and open airy at the same time. What a great concept of pulling some of the best aspects from a couple of the greatest mics out there to create this beautiful hybrid creature. Only downside to this one I think would be keeping it hidden away secret from all my home studio musician friends where it would be out on constant loan passed around like a hot potato.
I've come to have very high expectations for Stam gear over the years but this one even exceeded that! It really is unique in a market flooded with the same clones over and over.
I have this mic as well. Retired my other mic's for male rap. Unbelievable mic for an unbelievable price. Nothing will touch this anywhere near the price!!
@@1erwayne and please can you tell me if the Avalon 737 . sp is a very nice preamp comp eq ? I already have a 1073 preamp eq and nice comps but i d like to get new hardware and i hear the best and worst about the Avalon.... Also i have the uad avalon plugin and find it cool and some people say there s almost no difference with the hardware. Thx a lot
For vocals I prefer the Stam. For instruments I prefer the BeesNeez. If you need more of an all around mic the BeesNeez will be more versatile. If you are looking to add a special vocal mic the Stam really excels there 👍🏻

@@SeawellStudios well I don’t know if it’s me but it’s very „sibilant“. Might test it more but on my bands singer I totally can’t use it. That’s my first expression atm.

A 67 style mic has always been the best fit for my voice so I would always go that direction first. I think the BeesNeez is more versatile than the 87T as well. I see the 87T more as a great mic to add if you have the main flavors covered already.

Not really, they are quite a bit different. Something more like the innertube audio kit or the Stam SA-87T are much more of a tube 87 & they sound very different from a U67.
Sounds great on your voice Josh! It does compress nicely on its own.
Thanks Mark! I really appreciate you letting me borrow the mic, it's a sound I've been looking for, for a long time!
I got a pair as my locker has nothing else this big sounding. It blows many classics away.
I bet a pair is great! Overheads I bet would sound awesome. Thanks for checking out the video Paul!
