@@travelusa_withme and mid day... Walk 3 blocks Northeast from there and you will find the hordes of homeless..... Go on a weekend night.. not a safe place to be... Denver is a dump.
I stepped outside for a smoke a few months ago and as I'm about to take a stand I put my foot down and stopped immediately for some reason because I felt something not quite right and just as I did I had the slightest bit of pain from a sharp object going right through my sneaker and into my foot. I turned my foot up and plucked out a base of a "bubble" AKA crack/meth pipe. My first thought was anger and then curiosity. Mad that someone couldn't even have the common decency to kick or throw it off to the side and curious who uses a bubble any more? It's all about tin foil and smoking blues and fentanyl pills these days. Anyhow the city is dead. First two years of stupid covid restrictions that killed the economy followed by 2 1/2 more years, still in the process, construction right in the heart of the city on 16th St. Mall. No one came back to spend their time and money to come back to work in the city after covid and everyone works from home now. All the mom-n-pop places are long gone and even the franchise restaurants and coffee shops are closing/closed for good. There's literally no reason to come to the city any more. There used to be 3000-4000 people waking the streets of Denver in the summer at 1pm and it was alive. Now, it's a ghost town and it's lucky to see more than 20 people at a time each city block. Drugs, crime, construction, homelessness, despair, feces, urine, boring drab buildings, rent is out of control, stores closing every month, rude people and no security is what makes Denver, Denver. This place sucks. Zero heart, zero care. As long as investors make their money building new buildings and filling them with tech people who uber and call uber eats no one seems to give a rats ass what happens to this city. With the borders open, thousands of people moving in from California, cartels bringing in fentanyl by the truck load- it's all on display. Only positive was police cleaning up the Union station area finally. But the way the mayor let it get that bad in the first place was shameful. Open drug markets, people openly smoking drugs on the train without a care in the world, assaults on people just trying to get to work. Unacceptable. Meh.
This was definitely filmed on a Sunday! Cause Denver traffic is insane any other day of the week! Denver kind of got a bad rep, still one of the safest major cities in the country. Fun fact about Denver. Colfax Ave is 26 miles long east to west, which makes it the longest commercial street in America, and is the geographical center of Denver.

Thanks for filming it. But it is way not that nice at all. Bums out in places skipped. I live in Colorado, for decades, and I avoid downtown at all costs. Not sure when this was filmed, but not on a regular day.
I worked so many different places downtown when I younger the only difference is now is so many homeless people but yeah I used to love to work downtown I worked at the phone co. @@fredericnemi6317 Local news stations recently reported that there have been 3700 violent crimes in Denver this year. With 5 months left in the year they have already exceeded all previous years 12 month totals. Colorado was recently named the 3rd most dangerous state in America. There have been dozens of shooting in Lodo so far this year with many assailants simply shooting into the crowds. A Denver news station was interviewing a local business owner who was describing the horrible crime rate in the Broadway corridor when a homeless meth head jumped out of his street-side tent and attacked them with a machette while they were filming (a simple You Tube search will lead you to the footage.) RTD ridership is down 60% as of 8/6/24 due in no small part to the number of assaults (there have been 5 murders on RTD buses and trains so far this year. . Liberal progressive policies and politics have turned our once beautiful city into a disgusting cesspool. For the record I have lived here since 1976.
Hear all that Republican racist propaganda-filled hate spewed in this comment section, Denver is a city that's always in permanent construction at least for the last 11 years that I have lived in the place, and around it. It looks 10 times better than when I moved here, also another honest thing that I can testify about Colorado, that's the only place in the world, and I have been to many places around the world where in 11 years straight I have never seen a rat, a mouse running by, I have never seen ants in my apartment messing with my sugar, or cereals, I have never seen a single cockroach crowling around or flying anywhere! I can tell you this is a fit all you Coloradoans can be proud of, I am really telling the truth folks! that's why so many transplants have been moving here from other states, and mess with the cost of living that used to be low, and nice. I know when they finish with that project downtown it's gonna give us the wow effect just like we had with the I225 project or the Aurora light rail project, that's why I like Colorado they really are always improving their infrastructures as opposed to the North Eastern Coast States who are still looking like in the 1880s.
Those hating are MAGA cvlt members. They think cities like Jackson Mississippi, The Woodlands Texas, Coeur D’Alene Idaho, Gainesville Georgia, Prov Utah, Fort Smith Arkansas, Rapid City South Dakota Waco Texas Clermont Florida Great Falls Montana, Greenville South Carolina and Oklahoma City are good ol’ cities even though most are falling apart lol 😂
I can confidently say it’s gotten a lot better. After BLM there was a quality of life rough patch for a while but it feels a lot better to walk around d downtown. Not only that but the suburbs and cities around downtown have always been great and only getting better.
Homeless have migrated from Denver to suburban areas, like Wheat Ridge.Wheat Ridge 1991 there was 1 Homeless person now they are everywhere, not safe to walk at night. Low-income workers cannot afford an apartment. Drugs bad. Slave wages bad. Just saying. Pandemic seems to have made this worse. Nice 16th street mall footage. Will be nicer once the construction is finished.
It's a mixed bag. If you think of the city's overall boundaries, most parts of it are very nice, and likely much more developed and thriving than they were when you last lived here. There are some homeless encampments here and there, but the city is starting to deal with those.
I also work at the Brown Palace I work there as a waitress in the Vault Room boy did I get good tips Good ole days had a man come in to drink coffee and my tip he made was a $20 bill into a ring for my finger he only wanted me as his waitress cool huh
