This game was called Necro-Nesia in Japan, which basically translates to "Death Island" and in my opinion that is a much more fitting (and badass) title than Escape from Bug Island; especially since bugs aren't the only things on the island. Kinda wish Spike Chunsoft would make a sequel someday.
Eidos should've just stuck with the original title "Necronesia" when they released this. That title at least sounds a bit creepier than what they stuck with. Then again, I have a strange feeling that Eidos looked at this game and thought "This is painfully silly and cheesy, and everybody's gonna notice it. We might as well get this over with and give it an equally cheesy title".
Is that the music that plays at the beginning and near the end of the video? I did think it sounded weirdly 16 bit for a Wii game, then again with absolute quality like this they WOULD have cut the sound budget like that. The game changes after you go through the CAVE OF TIME, and you can go to other places and get better weapons and do things to prevent things from happening the way they did the first time around. Either way, Ray escapes; he may or may not have "company" with him when he does, and I'm guessing that THAT depends on collecting the purple fragments. The end. :)

I don't think the college made her go. Given she had a book about the island on her, that I assume she got from the college library, I think she decided to go on her own, probably so she could examine the bugs up close to get more accurate details for her school report.
Not really, the second playthrough gives you the chance to change the plot several times, and as a result you have the chance to make most of the side cast survive. The only one that doesn't make it to the end is Robert, who has been on the island for too long and succumbs to its curse before the end.

I've played this game before and I actually liked it. It was scary and actually pretty challenging. There were a lot of caves you could explore and a lot more weapons than just a stick, rock, and machete. I also thought the game having a dark screen was good because it made it scarier and the only way to make it bright was to turn on your flashlight, but that might not me safe because bugs could swarm you if you did. You also couldn't really run past the enemies in this game without being hurt by the bugs in the next area. There were some open areas where you could run past enemies, but almost all games are like that. (Super Mario for instance.) I'd rate this game an 8/10. Oh, and the graphics aren't that bad at all.
ES VI better be in Black Marsh or the Khajiit settlement (I forget its name.) where else hasn't there been an ES game? I know Hammerfell, Skyrim, Cyrodiil, Morrowind and High Rock were covered, and Dragonborn DLC got us Solstheim.
I still remember watching this video when you first uploaded it. Then I saw it was uploaded 5 years ago, and for a moment, it felt like my heart sank, but in a good way. It made me think of how much my own life has changed since then, and how despite all of those dramatic changes, I still regularly watch your content. I also never realized just how much your own life has changed between this and now. Kind of like that feeling you get when you find your old PS1 or PS2 memory cards, and it has the exact date and time of those saves. It can bring back a lot of real memories, too. Just a thought that I felt like sharing.

Just now realized there's a distinct island theme to Ian's videos: Bug Island, Lego Island, Island Peril, Isle of the Dead, Logical Journey of the Zoombinis (takes place on an island)... just a lot of island-related content.
Of the C-list survival horror games on the Wii, Cursed Mountain is probably the better option. Deadly Creatures is better than any of these, though, except I don't think it's "survival-horror", strictly speaking.
The idea of clearing the game, just so you can play a "new game+" with a character that has all the knowledge from your first game is amazing. Reminds me of Prince of Persia. That's time loop done right, for a real ending.

*Since I'm sure people are curious, I'll fill in what happens after Ray wakes up at the camp:* Basically, the "second quest" is just a harder version of the first quest and the story is a bit different. Also, at the end, there is an escape sequence. In the process, Ray fights the final boss, which is a cross between a man and an insect. Then, Ray rides off on the boat and the first quest starts again... To be honest, I actually enjoyed this game. It is only fun if you try to complete the challenges and explore all of the caves, and by doing this, you can also collect cool weapons such as grenades, battle axes, sledgehammers, and a lot of different guns. For me, this game gets at least a 7/10. It is surprisingly fun and I don't know why brutalmoose hates it so much. It is like a cross between the Legend of Zelda and Chop til you Drop. (p.s. The second quest is 1000 times better than the first quest!!!)

For those curious, the purple fragments that enemies drop are used to open boxes scatter throughout the island that contain various goodies, like new weapons.
I mean yeah it's a joke for survival horror, but it's not all that bad. What Brutalmoose didn't mention is that is game has more weapons than tree branch, rocks, bug repel spray, and Machete. in the beginning, you can pick up a knife and it works better. yeah swinging your wii remote is kind of stupid, but you can just swing your wrist instead of your whole arm. Killing little bugs do seem pointless when you can just step on them. If you don't want to go against the mantis army, kill the first one and take the nest down with rocks. i'm not going to go with every detail in the game (since I beat it) but brootalmoose left a lot of things. And hey he said don't buy it, can you argue with $2?

Nintendo had a fantastic idea with the motion controls. But since third party developers were completely clueless about how to implement them properly, they pretty much died on the new gen. Only VR is helping bringing them back. Let's see if they don't fuck them up this time.

I mean yeah it's a joke for survival horror, but it's not all that bad. What Brutalmoose didn't mention is that is game has more weapons than tree branch, rocks, bug repel spray, and Machete. in the beginning, you can pick up a knife and it works better. yeah swinging your wii remote is kind of stupid, but you can just swing your wrist instead of your whole arm. Killing little bugs do seem pointless when you can just step on them. If you don't want to go against the mantis army, kill the first one and take the nest down with rocks. i'm not going to go with every detail in the game (since I beat it) but brootalmoose left a lot of things. And hey he said don't buy it, can you argue with $2?
