Mon is actually involved with Thai people than most people know. The Mon today are immigrants from Myanmar. But prehistoric Thailand was also occupied by the Mon before merging to Tai immigrants (more likely assimilated by them, then the new page of Thai history began). So Mon actually has two meaning, that is, as today minority ethnic who migrate from Myanmar, and as one of the major ancestry of Thai people.
As a Thai person, I do really agree with Funky Child. Your Thai pronunciation is very accurate, and you've learned many of Thai vocabularies very fast. Have a nice trip in Thailand !! (PS. If you have time please also visit the northern part of Thailand such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai).😍🥰😀

Sangkhlaburi is charming places for local Thai visit as u said, been there many yrs ago. Still love it. also if u love quiet nature area there are a couple of places where is my fav one likewise, lotus lake&king pavilion cave in Sam roi yod national park. Or any other beach in prachuap district.
