this is actually insane, I never imagined we could ever get this much freedom in minecraft by only using commands
I was stuck in *1.12* to make creations, but now you made me want to learn how to use command blocks in the higher versions!

Display entities are indeed very useful and awesome. Much better than NoAI falling-sand blocks and actually even armor stands.
Also, an idea, if you like challenges: Make a shrink- and enlarge-weapon. A bit like SethBling did some years ago, but now with this new technology it could be done much better and less laggy.

This is genuinely a game changer when it comes to things like one commands, data packs and map creation.
In resource packs we can make almost infinite custom models and use item displays and size them up as blocks to make infinite custom blocks with any model
Been looking for a way to have player heads as custom blocks hope someone makes a data pack using this technique
what is the command u used to summon the block display with the player head and value?, and this is insane ngl its gonna make maps really cool, +the power to create a custom block with like a datapack or something are infinite
That is so AMAZING, I've never seen a command block youtuber so dedicated and show us so insane commands! Are these possible in Bedrock and played heads are they possible if so please make a video! Thanks
Sadly bedrock doesn’t have neither these display entities nor custom player heads. You can still achieve something like that but with custom entities and 3d models, not by using commands but by using behaviour packs (its more complicated though)

Is it good/recommend to learn new minecraft commands? I'm still stuck in minecraft 1.8.9 commands and been using it for my videos. Thanks fellow commander!
All I can say is: if you want to complicate your life, use the old commands!
You can do so much more stuff with the new ones, it sure takes some time to get used to them but, in my opinion, it'll be worth it.

Imagine if the skyblock of hypixel used this instead of armor stand, it would be more optimized, beautiful and easy to code (i think)

What block did you put under the display blocks to make them solid? I'm still on the look for something that allows transparency like the barrier but is also breakable in survival :/
Thank you. In the video I placed a barrier block but for survival mode I think that any block will do the job if we add an execute command that detects for the mined block at the display entity’s position and then some commands that summon a spawn egg for the custom block and kill the mined block’s drop.
@@TheRedEngineer Nel mentre mi sono ricordato che sei italiano XD. Comunque si poi diventa una questione di trovare il blocco con la giusta hitbox per un eventuale display block con un modello non uniforme; c'è un mondo ancora da esplorare

I bet people will find a ton of creative things to do with this new feature! I've not been playing much Minecraft in recent times, but I am also looking forward to the uses of display entities that I might find in future maps. Also, for the ghost blocks, this does seem like a much better alternative compared to NoGravity falling_blocks lol. I already had a lot of fun messing with falling_block entities, but it seems like you can do ten times as much with display entities ✨
and they have nearly no lag, i think falling block entities caused more lag.
@@TheMonkey82 Oh nice, I hadn't thought about the performance implications, but I suppose it would make sense that the display entities are optimized for that.

Hi, I love your videos they inspire me a lot. I have this problem, when I want to summon item display as Player Head but rotated 45 degrees, 90 degrees it appears unrotated, I think it's something with BlockStateTag. I use MCstacker.
Command example:
/summon item_display ~ ~1 ~ {item:{id: "minecraft:player_head",count:1b,tag:{BlockStateTag:{rotation: "0"}}}}
It doesn't work even with summon item display GrassBlock with snow on top instead of grass texture
Command:
/summon item_display ~ ~ ~ {item:{id: "minecraft:grass_block",count:1b,tag:{BlockStateTag:{snow: "true"}}}}
Do you know how to write it to make BlockStatetag work?
Because I noticed that the gate you created had Iron bars with blockstates write correctly
On mcstacker write your values in the “yaw” and “pitch” boxes. That’s what is going to rotate the entity.
Example: /summon block_display ~ ~ ~ {Rotation:[45F,0F]}
How did you make the display block disappear when breaking a block?
he put a block on them when they were spawned, then detected at their position if they were in air, and they /killed themself if there was.

Assolutamente si. Rivoluzionari anche ai livelli delle armor stand quando furono aggiunte. In effetti ora le display entity sono le nuove armor stand!

The only shame is that we didn't get custom hitboxes as well.
That would be so cool! But hey, maybe in the future!
In fact, I know about an NBT TAG that lets us give these entities a “size” (different than the display size) but I’m not sure if it’s meant for the hitbox. I’ll have to investigate more in the wiki.

Yes. These entities are available on Java. You can do something like this on bedrock too but by using custom entities and custom blocks, it’s more complicated than Java but you can actually do more stuff with those.

I recommend subbing to slicedlime, he’s a Minecraft dev who makes short update videos about new command stuff.
I’ve noticed them a couple of times when coding but still didn’t try them.
And yeah, I’m already subbed to SlicedLime, I actually met him at minecon back in 2016. I’ll have to watch his videos on the recent additions. Thanks for recommending him btw.
