I think you have to donate your first ancient seed to Gunther to be able to plant it, he well give you the recipe so that if you find more, you can make them into ancient seeds.
he does give you one like I said in the video! I like keeping the first one and donating second because he only gives you one ancient seed that's plantable and starting with more is just a personal preference but you are right!

You should donate your first ancient seed since Gunther gives you a plantable one along with the recipe, and then you can just throw the ancient fruit you grow into a seed maker to kickstart your empire
Especially cause it can take a while to get the second one. It's not smart to wait so long to plant it because of how long they take to grow anyways, so always plant the first one as soon as we get it cause if you only find the second one in the next season thats at least 4 ancient fruit missed, theres simply no logical reason to wait bc you statistically you'll still find a second one whenever you would've had you not donated and you can just plant that one after.
Nobody panic! There's a monster that has a fairly decent chance of dropping them too, at least compared to the treasure rate, so it's a little easier to find them once you're a bit further into the game.
When I play the game, I feel the darn dolls comes around to me too often. Those're kinda creepy... And seriously... Those will come often for me even I've sacrificed none of the children in game. 😥
you shouldnt keep the ancient seed or the ancient doll, donating the ancient seed artifact already gives you an ancient seed and the meowmere sword is WAY worse than the obsidian edge, which you get in floor 90.
I agree that keeping the ancient seed is stupid regardless, but if you do the remixed mine rewards then holding onto the ancient doll may end up a good idea.
The ancient doll I think is only worthwhile if you have one of those better meowmere mods which buffs the weapon making it on par or better than the later weapons
Always donate your first ancient seed. You want to kickstart farming ancient fruit wine as soon as possible because it'll start carrying you about mid-year 3 and on if you want to *casually* optimize profit

I just wanna make an argument that the Ancient seed is required to be donated to the museum cause you unlock the crafting recipe for it along with getting the plantable version as your donation reward, then any ancient seed you randomly find can then be crafted into the growable kind.

Dinosaur eggs are a really good source of income without processing them into Dinosaur Mayoniese once you get the Treasure Appraisal Guide. This book makes all artifacts sell x3 times more, making dinosaur eggs with regular quality sell for 1050g, only 70g less than the mayo with Artisan Goods (and 90g more than mayo without Artisan Goods), while every quality dino eggs from silver to iridium sells for a lot more than the mayo.
Exactly, the first ancient seed is an artifact. We can't even plant it 😂😅. We only able to get the plantable one after we donate the "first ancient seed".
I agree with the prismatic shard and dinosaur egg, but I'm not sure I fully agree with the others. The first one is fun for Terraria fans and long time Stardew Valley players, but the sword isn't particularly good. So for a beginner I think it can be fine to just donate it, especially if they haven't unlocked the sewers. Dwarf gadgets aren't that rare, and by the time I get the recipe I usually have more than one anyway. Though if you've already unlocked the sewers it might be a good idea to wait just in case. Donating the ancient seed you get a plantable seed and the recipe from Gunther, so the second you get another seed you can turn it into a plantable one. I always wait until I have the Greenhouse unlocked though, that way it'll make plenty of fruit for my seed maker. But I'm team starfruit so I don't really need that many. But it really depends on the player!
Waiting to get another ancient seed before donating the first one just so you have 2 ancient fruit plants to start with is insane because by the time you get the 2nd seed, you couldve gotten at least one harvest from the first one and made them into seeds via seed maker and resulting in 1-3 more ancient fruit seeds. Its just less efficient but you do you. This is a tip video for beginners so I wouldve given it a pass if they know how to try and grind to get ancient seed drops but even then its faster to just get the first seed in the museum immediately.

Even if what they said was true, you'd still want to turn in the first seed. That way you're not having to hold onto the first forever. Since you'd still have to wait for your second to use it.
ALSO MARBLE!! You need it to craft the marble brazier (you can buy recipe from Robin) & it's a total pain to try and get it again if you're going for perfection
Y‘all don’t understand… I’m at years 6 And nearly in the mines daily, I have found EVERY dwarfs scroll at least 8 times other than the second one. I haven’t found it ONCE. i don’t know what to do at this point because I think I can’t even use cheat codes since I’m on switch.
Spoilers! #1 is a bit of a mid-game thing. You need to reach i think level 80-100, the one with the red lake, and then take it to the Wizard's basement, which is only unlocked after a couple hearts with the wizard, which can take a while. Meowmere is also not that great of a sword, its only good for aesthetics or collecting, not for actual use much. I wouldn't worry too much about saving it or the dwarf gadget, but also there's no rush to finish the museum either, it'll take a while either ways. #2 DONATE YOUR FIRST ANCIENT SEED. By donating it, you get the recipe for the ancient seeds that can be planted AND one ancient seed to plant. Ancient seeds are pretty rare finds, you don't have to wait to get another one, you should donate it and plant it/save it for spring, or at the very least summer. #3 & #4 Absolutely save your prismatic shards & your first dinosaur egg. Prismatic shard is one of the rarest things in the game. Dino egg is just a really good produce maker. Also incubate the ostrich egg first to get ostriches, and just donate the ones they lay. #5 is pretty mid-game too, you unlock special orders in fall of year 1, and farm computers don't really have much use? Moneymaking wise at least.
Just started Stardew and I don’t know why but I just vibe with Gunther Like, bro is just pure style (and also I love museums) Also, that’s some reason to have to donate to the museum
For the 5, it depend of your preference. For me you can donate because the use i have for it's just to check my green house. But you have some cheapest solution : 1- place a silo near of our "base" (basicaly where you are the most of our time in your farm). 2- Know your crops ! Ok it's seem obvious but, for example, ancients fruits take 1 week to grow. So if your last haverst was a sunday the next will be a sunday.
Just give the ancient seed to Gunther asap as you may take a couple of days to find another one as only donation gives the recipe but the donation also gives the seed so you can start farming ancient fruit
I think I'm the only one who didn't give the Prismatic Shard to the museum, I didn't give it to a bachelor or bachelorette, I didn't make a sword out of it, I just sold it because I only think about money- And now that I see these videos, I regret having done that.
I donated my first prismatic shard to Gunther and now I’m told it gives the strongest weapon in the game I’ve been stuck with a obsidian blade for several days
dont worry too much about the ancient doll one; ancient dolls are pretty common, i get one at least once every mining trip & get them often from digging up buried items.
You get both the recipe and a seed pack from donating ancient seed, and the dwarf gadget comes in normal geodes and is fairly common, and by the time you are likely to get your first gadget you are still far away from even unlocking special orders.
Well after the update it’s absolutely required that you give Gunther the first one because not only will he give you the plantable seed but then you can get the recipe to make more
Plenty of people have already said why keeping your first ancient fruit seed isn’t actually a good idea so I won’t touch on that, but keeping your first ancient doll isn’t really worth it either. The meowmere is a fun Easter egg but a subpar weapon. It’s outclassed by plenty of weapons you’ll have access to long before you can get the meowmere, as early as floor 55 where you unlock the Templar’s Blade at the Adventurer’s guild. Most players are just gonna throw it in a chest or put it on display somewhere. You can reforge the infinity blade to look like it, but by the time you unlock the forge, you’ll have found plenty more ancient dolls. It’s not that uncommon an artifact.
The Ocean Stone is good to keep as well if you want a Midnight Squid fish pond (a steady source of squid ink). The Ocean Stone is required to level up the pond. In one playthrough, it took me forever to acquire my second Ocean Stone. Now, I duplicate all rare minerals in a crystalarium before donating them. Don't know when I might need that rare mineral in the current or future versions of SDV.
Btw, you can get as many far away stones as you want (idk if you can after getting the meowmere sword) and they sell for more than an ancient doll so its a nice way to get extra cash Ancient Doll is 60g Far Away Stone is 500g
When you donate an ancient seed to gunther he does give you both the recipe and an ancient seeds (the one you can plant) so just donate when you get it it’s fine. Plus it is kinda useless without the recipe since it is just a random artifact without it. While the other artifacts on this list have uses outside of donating to gunther. Ancient seed’s use only comes from donating it to gunther
The dinosaur is the main one you need to hold onto! Dinosaur eggs are pretty rare and sometimes you can go years in game without finding one. Ancient seeds and dolls are a lot easier to find in comparison.
There's no point waiting for a second ancient seed. Even if you want to start with 2 seeds, it's gonna take the same amount of time whether you donate it or don't
jokes on you, obtained a second prismaric shard before repairing the bus (I've already given the first one), and Günther give you back, so to speak, the seed but as an actual seed and the recipee (literally is best give the seed as soon you get it).
I watched this shorts 8 months too late. I got prismatic shards from fishing level 10 with like 0.0001 something drop rate from chests and I remember my friend telling me about that specific sword he have but i forgot how he acquired it. I donated it at gunther, same with the ancient doll.... ahh man.
Hi, massive stardew nerd here with almost 700 hours of playtime. The video is excellent but when you donate the ancient seed to Gunther he gives you the recipe and the seed packet. I started playing during 1.5 so maybe this was a 1.4 thing.
You can make dragon egg mayonnaise with the dragon eggs and sell it for more. I just figured that out a couple days ago after selling a bunch of plain Dino eggs
I feel like ancient seed doesn't make sense here. Gunther gives you ancient seeds for donating and after that, you can just get more ancient seeds from either harvesting the one you have, seed makers, or finding more as artifacts. Not really a great reason not to give the first one to gunther.
Early in the game, I got a Dino egg from fishing (which I now know is SUPER lucky 😭) and I immediately handed it over to Gunther. Then later, I found out you can incubate the Dino egg, which will hatch a dinosaur, and you’ll be able to get more Dino eggs from that dinosaur 😭😭!! But it’s ok, three in-game years later, I finally was able to get another egg and it’s finally hatched a Dino 🥹
Thankfully Prismatic Shards aren't that hard to find! The Terraria crossover definitely took me by surprise, loved that! I wonder if the sword's stats hold up to post-Moon Lord game phase stats
Always, *always* donate the first Ancient Seed because Gunter gives you one you can plant right away. The sooner you plant it, the sooner it starts making you money. This is especially true if you get lucky and the Crop Fairy grows it instantly. There is literally no reason to wait for a second one. The only thing you've accomplished by waiting is delaying your first harvest.
Also, the faraway stone looks like a forest pylon from terraria, and I thought the wall of flesh was in Stardew Valley after throwing the ancient doll💀💀

Giving your first Ancient Seed to Gunther is how you get your first plantable seed & the recipe to make more, so I'd recommend not saving that one

I think I'm the only one who didn't give the Prismatic Shard to the museum, I didn't give it to a bachelor or bachelorette, I didn't make a sword out of it, I just sold it because I only think about money-

I donated my first dwarf gadget and gave my second one to Maru because she likes it…
dont worry too much about the ancient doll one; ancient dolls are pretty common, i get one at least once every mining trip & get them often from digging up buried items.
You get both the recipe and a seed pack from donating ancient seed, and the dwarf gadget comes in normal geodes and is fairly common, and by the time you are likely to get your first gadget you are still far away from even unlocking special orders.

as a new player there is soooo much to this game wow.. I sadly gave Gunther my prismatic shard but hopefully Ill get another soon!

It’s ok to give the first ancient seed. You get both the recipe and a free packet of ancient seed to plant so you don’t need to wait

Well after the update it’s absolutely required that you give Gunther the first one because not only will he give you the plantable seed but then you can get the recipe to make more
Plenty of people have already said why keeping your first ancient fruit seed isn’t actually a good idea so I won’t touch on that, but keeping your first ancient doll isn’t really worth it either. The meowmere is a fun Easter egg but a subpar weapon. It’s outclassed by plenty of weapons you’ll have access to long before you can get the meowmere, as early as floor 55 where you unlock the Templar’s Blade at the Adventurer’s guild. Most players are just gonna throw it in a chest or put it on display somewhere. You can reforge the infinity blade to look like it, but by the time you unlock the forge, you’ll have found plenty more ancient dolls. It’s not that uncommon an artifact.

Another good one to keep is marbe. Well its useful if you're going for perfection and need to craft everything. It is needed in a recepie
Also for me personally I like to keep the ornamental fan too cuz you can make it into a bride dress top and I like to dress for the wedding :)
The Ocean Stone is good to keep as well if you want a Midnight Squid fish pond (a steady source of squid ink). The Ocean Stone is required to level up the pond. In one playthrough, it took me forever to acquire my second Ocean Stone.
Now, I duplicate all rare minerals in a crystalarium before donating them. Don't know when I might need that rare mineral in the current or future versions of SDV.
Y'all forgetting the Fire Quartz, Quartz, Frozen Tear, and Earth Stone. Required for a bundle.
Btw, you can get as many far away stones as you want (idk if you can after getting the meowmere sword) and they sell for more than an ancient doll so its a nice way to get extra cash

When you donate an ancient seed to gunther he does give you both the recipe and an ancient seeds (the one you can plant) so just donate when you get it it’s fine. Plus it is kinda useless without the recipe since it is just a random artifact without it. While the other artifacts on this list have uses outside of donating to gunther. Ancient seed’s use only comes from donating it to gunther
The dinosaur is the main one you need to hold onto! Dinosaur eggs are pretty rare and sometimes you can go years in game without finding one. Ancient seeds and dolls are a lot easier to find in comparison.
instead of the ancient fruit, i think an item (mineral) to keep as soon as you find it would be the >>marble

There's no point waiting for a second ancient seed. Even if you want to start with 2 seeds, it's gonna take the same amount of time whether you donate it or don't

jokes on you, obtained a second prismaric shard before repairing the bus (I've already given the first one), and Günther give you back, so to speak, the seed but as an actual seed and the recipee (literally is best give the seed as soon you get it).
Every one says either prismatic shard or ancient seed, but all these items are pretty good to keep. Thanks
I watched this shorts 8 months too late. I got prismatic shards from fishing level 10 with like 0.0001 something drop rate from chests and I remember my friend telling me about that specific sword he have but i forgot how he acquired it. I donated it at gunther, same with the ancient doll.... ahh man.
Pretty sure the Prismatic Shard giving you a powerful sword is a reference to the Rainbow Shell from Chrono Trigger.
It's actually recommended to donate the first ancient seed as you are given a reward of a plantable seed for donating the non plantable one

Hi, massive stardew nerd here with almost 700 hours of playtime. The video is excellent but when you donate the ancient seed to Gunther he gives you the recipe and the seed packet. I started playing during 1.5 so maybe this was a 1.4 thing.
You can make dragon egg mayonnaise with the dragon eggs and sell it for more. I just figured that out a couple days ago after selling a bunch of plain Dino eggs
I feel like ancient seed doesn't make sense here. Gunther gives you ancient seeds for donating and after that, you can just get more ancient seeds from either harvesting the one you have, seed makers, or finding more as artifacts. Not really a great reason not to give the first one to gunther.
Save marble as well! You also need it for a crafting recipe like the dwarf gadget.
Early in the game, I got a Dino egg from fishing (which I now know is SUPER lucky 😭) and I immediately handed it over to Gunther. Then later, I found out you can incubate the Dino egg, which will hatch a dinosaur, and you’ll be able to get more Dino eggs from that dinosaur 😭😭!!
But it’s ok, three in-game years later, I finally was able to get another egg and it’s finally hatched a Dino 🥹

Always, *always* donate the first Ancient Seed because Gunter gives you one you can plant right away. The sooner you plant it, the sooner it starts making you money.
This is especially true if you get lucky and the Crop Fairy grows it instantly.
There is literally no reason to wait for a second one. The only thing you've accomplished by waiting is delaying your first harvest.

Little tip for my mobile players. You actually can reclaim items from the museum. I'm not sure if it's going to get patched out though.
Give guther your first ancient seed to guther he'll give you one to plant then toss it in a seed maker

Hey love! Just wanted to let you know that you definitely CAN get anything you donate to Gunther back ON MOBILE! It’s a weird exception but I’ve accidentally taken multiple things home while I was donating and had to run back since “Gunther now had to tell me more about them” again😹

You do donate the ancient seed!! You will get the recipe and the seed in your rewards tab
I made the mistake of handing in my first dino egg, I got it from a fishing chest and thought it was just another artifact that served no purpose
