Love how you said excuse me to Cali like she was a person & not command her to move, we talked the same way to our Golden & she understood everything we said to her.
It was the same for me with my Spoodle, she understood me when I said the same. Actually she understood most of what I said. I think it’s a one on one relationship, a very close tie developed. I swear she knew what I was even thinking, and I could read her like a book.
The mud room as you call it looks good. Your cabin is coming on beautifully. I can not believe how far your have come in just a few short months. I thank you for sharing your videos they are such an inspiration and they also calm me a lot. So does Emily's video as well.
Shawn…you are such a good man….not much older than my oldest son….I say “excuse me” to my 13 year old cat….but I love dogs, too, and have ‘grand dogs’….A good man treats his animals the way you treat Cali… I love to watch your videos because my dad was a carpenter, and I can still smell the freshly sawed lumber from when I was a little girl. Some of the tools you use, he used…it makes me remember him….I miss him…Thank you for all you do and Merry and Blessed Christmas to you and your family!
It always feels good to get the insulation covered up and the air gaps sealed so you aren't heating Canada! I remember telling my dad that if there was a knock on the door, it was a polar bear looking for a colder spot! Enjoyed my visit today!
It's so great seeing it progress all the way from the drawing stage. It's looking marvellous. Hope those wolves move on elsewhere, in the search of food.
Looking good! Moving right along! Thank you for explaining! Always learning something! God bless you and your family! You and caili careful with those wolves! 😃
Watching your vids always inspires me to keep at it. Finishing two rooms in that basement this winter. Completing my wood burning stove install, and gutting and redoing my 1st floor bathroom. It's not all going to get done but that's what's on my list.
Love your videos for several years now must say I'm enjoying the shorter ones as well daily fix haha I could get used to this keep up the excellent work my friend stay warm stay blessed
Cabin craftsmanship is awesome. Love the details into the design. Stay safe and hugs to Cali. As for the wolves, beautiful , but a scary thing about wildlife. Thanks for sharing your family's journey.
Years ago, an old carpenter (my Dad), taught me the trick to nailing overhead.....con someone else into doing it. As always, enjoy the channel a lot. You two make a good team.
Those wide boards look great on the walls! Always enjoy the way you make a mental list of “things to do”! Seems never ending, but it all looks terrific!
The gratification of completing a job like this is, in itself, great therapy. More people need to get something done, by themselves, and realize the benefits. Anything, just leave social media behind. It's a curse. Good job Shawn.
Good morning, Mr. James! I enjoyed watching you explain your process. You think on your feet and prioritize that way. That, to me, is the self reliant instinct.
Shawn, I'm sitting here watching Field Fares eating Braeburn apples off the tree in the snow. I left some fruit on the tree for them at harvest time. I do this with all my fruit trees. You are making great progress trimming out. It's been -10°c here for the past 5-7 days, which is unusual. Usually, we get only intermittent very cold days. I've also put out fermented apple scraps for the birds. I've been making apple cider vinegar from my surplus crop. I've kept the apples in the garage and am fermenting them as I go. You should have a go. No effort and ACV is beneficial in the diet. Regards, Stephen.
Watching you has given me a keen appreciation for levels and measuring tools; there's a reason that the house is tight as a drum. Wow. I laugh often when watching you fit a piece just imagining what it would look like if my husband and I tried. We can't put an IKEA kit together without messing up something. It's a joy to watch a consummate artist at work.
Gosh Darn Mr James. What A Site To behold. The work you do is unexplainable. I love every second of you building and the pieces just fit right in. Thanks again for sharing a piece of your life and the build with me (us). I am learning so much
Always something to do on a building site, be it a modern design or a wood cabin. Just when you think your on top of all the jobs need doing , up springs another one and its start from scratch, well almost. Cheers Shawn and Cali.
Good morning Shawn Has to be really cold for the torch to barely burn the wood. Interior carpentry takes a lot more patience and some rework, coming along perfectly.
That’s good work there, Shawn. Dealing with the drafts is a chore, but it soon pays off with increased warmth. I could be wrong, but in the previous video it looked like you carried the deer’s intestines/leftovers in a bucket to dispose of in the meadow passed the creek. If so, that scent would be far stronger than any meat you preserved.
Great video. Windshield -45° washer fluid might work for you sawmill lubricant. Do you have you wood stove hooked up to a outside cold air intake? This will stop the drafts because the heat of the wood stove creates a positive pressure. When you don't use the cold air intake it tries to pull the air (O2) from any crack or crevice. This is not my idea (RUclips) but it makes sense. Have fun.
You are making incredible progress, Shawn! If those windows are single pane that's likely the source of your colder air. My grandfather had an old farmhouse with single pane windows and they always felt drafty in the winter. Can't wait to see the basement come together. Good luck!
I'm sure loving the daily videos, Shawn, it appears that you have way more snow on the ground than we have up it Timmins. Last year we had a very brutal winter, and how it's going for us so far is a pleasant suprise for us, though the sledders I guess aren't too happy about it.
Great job, Shawn. Sounds like you have some help up there with you. I hear a power saw in the background. It's a big job for one man. Nice that your family helps out when they can. Take care, Mike in the USA
The cabin is coming along lovely, your doing a great job there Shawn and your vlogs help me pass the time of day,I’m currently sat in Holland waiting to load Pharma goods for Poland on my van, from Poland I’m going to Vilnius (Lithuania) and then heading back to UK to deliver and then home to cold Dartmoor.👏👍👌
SHAWN & OUR CALI !!! This is looking great !!! Wish I had the energy to do this again !!! Look who came for a Throwing Break OUR CALI DID !!! Found with the log cabin up in Spooner Wisconsin I saved in a lumber pile for the windows !!! Some made it some didn't but it was used for fire wood then !!! Never let any of the wood go to waste !!! I highly recommend using your tools ambidextrously. It will extend the life of your dominant side and parts! It’s extremely awkward at first, but teaches you to be more thoughtful of your movements.
It must have been maddening to scribe the curved end of those horizontal wall boards in such a tight space. No room for error. Often there is no footage of the difficult parts, but I feel the unseen time and effort in every vidclip.
Yeah.. Sometimes you just have to do the work and quit worrying about the camera. I think he would be better off doing more time lapse stuff-- but maybe he just doesn't like to have all that footage, and longer render times, etc.
@@calholli timelapse would be win-win for both sides, he could keep mistakes on vid without us noticing, plus we would get actual picture how much effort it takes for each new task
I should be cleaning….. but, but, Shawn is on!
😂
Same here. 😆
Hehhe
I can relate! If I had a nickel for every time I thought that I probably could hire a house keeper.
I love the way you said excuse me to Callie. That is real love for her.
Love how you said excuse me to Cali like she was a person & not command her to move, we talked the same way to our Golden & she understood everything we said to her.

@@ludwigderzanker9767no, shes a dog.
Although today she may identify as a person. 😆 🤣 😂
You know Shawn is a good guy when he says “please”, “thank you” and “excuse me” to his dog!
Canadian eh? LOL
Right...😁
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😁☺️
Of course, and Cali understands him.
Uh yeah…he’s Canadian
Happy to see you back Thursday morning December 15th local time 8 o'clock AM🐕🎅NC
Merry Christina 🔥☕📖🎄⛄❄️ peace to you all 🙏
Thanks Shawn for keeping Cali safe! ✅✅✅🤩🤩🤩💯💯💯
Cabin is looking amazing Shawn 😁👍
The mud room as you call it looks good. Your cabin is coming on beautifully. I can not believe how far your have come in just a few short months. I thank you for sharing your videos they are such an inspiration and they also calm me a lot. So does Emily's video as well.
Lookin good Shawn, love your manners with Cali, also love that she understands every word. A very close bond.

Thank you , Shawn .

Good morning from Omaha Nebraska.... it's nice to have a video in the morning have a great day 👍👍👍
I really liked your first build but this one, I love. I know at 78, I will not be building but my kitchen is straight from the farm. Love it, Shawn.
The look on Cali's face at the 4.44 mark was like "Oh, boy; here he goes again with a flame thrower!" Watching her react to you is a joy.
A pleasant morning Shawn. Take care.

Morning Shawn, love your craftsmanship, always have since the beginning!!!
One can see the total dedication in your efforts. It is a thing of beauty and I for one can't wait for the outdoor kitchen build!

No kidding ! I was thinking the same thing , nailing upside down is no joke.

Hello Shawn,
Nice to see some progress in the boot room (UK version of mud room).
Take care.
Paul,,
I love the windows with the wide plank walls. So cozy and warm!
Amazing job. Respect.
That mudroom/breezeway was a great idea! Especially with the windows facing south-southwest.

Christmas dinner at the cabin this year?
Looking good Shawn, what progress you’ve made. You and Cali watch your backs with those wolves.
Shawn has an iron composure, an example to all of us, I think!😇

Good morning Shawn. Thanks for bringing us along. Have a great week.
Perfect! I needed something to do for 20 min before I leave . Good morning Shawn!
Shawn you're a hard act to follow. You've built a whole city in one year.. You're awesome ! Who do you give the glory to?
You are making incredible progress, Shawn! If those windows are single pane that's likely the source of your colder air. My grandfather had an old farmhouse with single pane windows and they always felt drafty in the winter. Can't wait to see the basement come together. Good luck!
