My fireteam was stuck on this beer drinking mf for almost 7 hours STRAIGHT. Almost after every death of our clearer or bad node growing, I thought "Fuck it, we should take a nap for a few hours" And every time I heard the DPS phase (1:25) I immediately sprung into action. Everyone was at their greatest, screaming at the Nezarec, saying "this time he's dead" Goddamn, RoN is easy, yeah, but the atmosphere and the feeling of overcoming a powerful being like Nezarec with a full team of your buddies, WITH OST THIS GREAT, that's what makes this raid, and Day One, so magical to me
Same thing happened with my team, realised we were making some stupid mistakes after 8 hours of Nezzy, took 5-6 hours to sleep, came back and beat him in like 30 mins
It beats out Spire of the Stars which has a GODLY DPS theme. Its probably on par, if not better than DSC’s DPS theme. But does it beat out Last Wish’s Riven OST?? That idk.

It's not so much hiding parts as it is incorporating a new musical element that serves as a cue for stress and intensity specifically for the raid mechanic. It's all just music making. You have the general theme, then I'm sure they say "hey we need a motif composed that signifies a moment of stress, determination, triumph, etc. can you make that?" so then the composers make it, and then it's arranged/mixed over again specifically for the raid. I will agree with you in that they should include the raid mixed versions in the OST for those who want to purchase it.

Damn. The damage phase at 1:25 is fucking wild. The underlying chorus representing the darkness and the single female vocalist to represent the light, playing on top of one another to show us mixing the forces to stop Nezarec. Some incredible story telling through music there.
The new motif for the damage phase feels like a new step for the guardians. Until now it’s felt like that the motif that plays right before was the theme for the guardians but now it feels more like the theme of the light. This new motif is for the guardians themselves, who are now so much more than just the light.

May not have been as hard as some of the other raids but still was damn fun to run. Turned into my first contest clear so I’m super happy. As usual soundtrack team knocked it out of the park.
Rhulk's track gives me the feeling of menacing vibes throughout dps as he plays with us like toys, but this sound track is sooo perfect at not giving us a single relaxing breath. Both are polar opposites but just incredible. I love rhulk's theme a ton, but I can't argue that it can get as hype as 1:25 here
Hear me out: 1:25 at 1.25 speed. Edit: In all seriousness though, I love this piece. Rhulk's theme was so calming and relaxed as he was calculating his next move and inviting you into his domain. Nezarec's theme however is aggressive as hell, matching his eagerness to kill you but letting that eagerness consume him as he runs around trying to rip you to shreds. It reminds me of Riven's theme in Last Wish. At 1:25 I hear like a conflict. The darkness of the pyramid fighting against the Light, as the Light then attacks back calmly. The Darkness attacks back, but the Light counters. It happens once or twice more before the Light and Dark merge to play the guardian's theme with the horns we heard in Deep Stone Crypt, reminding us of the battles we have faced, and reminding us we have handled stronger. Gotta love Bungie when it comes to their music 😭
Somthing I wish they done was if you made it to phase 3 when it says ENRAGE IS NEAR it done like taniks and played the guardian theme. Our team played carful we got him to practically 1 hp off final stand so,we could get ammo using Aeons and double special but unfortunately the ost just resets to what it normally is
Maybe the light and darkness merging represents how both are rejecting Nezarec. When dps starts, you can see a beam of light and darkness hitting nezarec, which weakens him
@@BossTyphlosion I still think a better way of doing this encounter would have been we’d have to activate that beam and bait him into a spot where it would shot and depending in what the Shoulder pads showed we’d have to “overwhelm” him with that element of light or dark which would make him damagable so for example his shoulders showed dark you’d do x mechanic to make it shoot resonance energy bait him into middle then shoot somthing to trigger it it overwhelms him so when he tries to wipe you he makes himself damage able so it keeps the speed aspect of you still need to be faster than him, could keep the refuse mechanic still but limit it to once per phase

I hated yet loved doing this raid Sure it was pretty easy i was honestly expecting it to be hard but no no it wasn't but very fun and good gear Ofc the final encounter i would say was hard for me not because of the encounter itself tho but because i did this raid 30 under the recommended power lvl Proud of myself lol
Theme is really good but the encounter is very mid. Gets carried by the ost. While the encounter itself is just... Fine. Has a few problems like: Nezerac being able to be blocked by a platform during damage Mechanic can literally be brute forced (though for farming this is great) And pitifully low health. And you can cheese him by standing in front of him (unsure if this was patched) Lore does not matter when criticizing an encounter. on the bright side though, he does have a banger theme.
@@skythewolf35 nah, rhulks theme is better. Nezy is all over the place (which makes sense for his boss fight) which makes it uninteresting to listen to. Rhulk feels planned, theres an order. It also has bomb percussion thats easy to go along with. The whole track is memorable whereas nezy only has the dps phases.

I hated yet loved doing this raid
Sure it was pretty easy i was honestly expecting it to be hard but no no it wasn't but very fun and good gear
Ofc the final encounter i would say was hard for me not because of the encounter itself tho but because i did this raid 30 under the recommended power lvl

Nez really skipped leg day, couldn't chase us down for shit.
Theme is really good but the encounter is very mid. Gets carried by the ost. While the encounter itself is just... Fine. Has a few problems like:
Nezerac being able to be blocked by a platform during damage
Mechanic can literally be brute forced (though for farming this is great)
And pitifully low health.
And you can cheese him by standing in front of him (unsure if this was patched)
Lore does not matter when criticizing an encounter.
on the bright side though, he does have a banger theme.
Anyone else hear the Wallace and gromit theme at 40 seconds

That dps phase is simply incredible. Too bad in game nezzy is too dummy to match that

Somehow, Rhulk's theme sounds better in everyway, maybe my hopes were too high on this raid.

@@skythewolf35 nah, rhulks theme is better. Nezy is all over the place (which makes sense for his boss fight) which makes it uninteresting to listen to. Rhulk feels planned, theres an order. It also has bomb percussion thats easy to go along with. The whole track is memorable whereas nezy only has the dps phases.
@@mcswisscheese3031 that’s the point tbh- rhulk is your classic mastermind villain while nezy is just deranged, hence the ritualistic order feel of rhulk’s music vs. nez’s theme being all over the place bouncing whole octaves. I wanna say it’s preference rather than being objectively better or worse
As Yensobi said already basically, can't we just say they're both great? There's room to love both, as Destiny has a ton of great and varying music.
Someone needs to mod the game where the boss is replaced with “Nezuko” from demon slayer instead of “Nezarec”. And you just have this super menacing music going in while she’s running around in her smol form smashing guardians up😂
