Always use your best judgment, spud it out first, dont walk out with anything until you know your good. Be safe everyone! And thank you sir for your time!
Ran into a similar situation walking out in the dark last year. Went from broken up and refrozen ice to a smooth sheet. Spud bar save me from stepping on a half inch of ice
I'm in the mountains of western Canada.... we have been dealing with the exact same thing.... all the lakes in our area are very dangerous...(we are ice fishing...but being extremely careful)...we have had a couple real good cool downs and warm ups... has made conditions scary... to all the less experienced guys out there... BE VERY, VERY CAREFUL... no fish is worth a life... Thanks for the great info buddy... good luck in the 24/25 ice season...stay safe out there.. Merry Xmas and happy new year to you and yours... From my very frozen, snowy, overtaxed igloo on the mountain in Grand Cache alberta Canada 🇨🇦 D.
ICE SAFETY IS CRITICAL!!! Early season ice is TRICKY. You can get single-digit air temperature for several days, then a HUGE THAW. This has happened two weekends in row in Chicago. You also must factor in wind exposure and water current, because I thickness WON'T be uniform early on.
What happened to the Ski-doo? Despite a snowmobile possibility weighing more, I'd think the weight distribution would be less per square inch on questionable ice. That's why it's fishing and not catching. Stay safe, DW....
@@3-EnglishLabs the price difference on dropping one vs the other in is astronomical 🤣 Oh and the Big Red with those monster tires actually floats if it goes in 😆

Already had a few fatalities here in Michigan. Be safe everyone.

Yes I felt way safer last week when we had either a good 5” with some open holes, versus now which is 7” with some skim spots
I like the way you think.
Good thing you weren't on Puckaway. First the jeep now a UTV went in yesterday.
Good advice. Still waiting for ice in Central New York

Be careful dave love your videos
Please use a spud bar and keep your ice picks on you. BE CAREFUL, STAY SAFE.
Great Video! Can you post a link to the ice spikes you are wearing on your boots?
Still early. Better days are yet to come.
Too risky to put wheels on the ice, yup; spud bar, float suit, or at least a life jacket to give you a fighting chance..
Good thing there's no snow
