Ever since I bought my sister Dragon Quest 11 (she is a big fan of RPGs) she has become a fan of the series. She has been asking me for updates on Dragon Quest 12, and 3 remake, and she has been trying to get her hands on the older games since. She'll be so happy if Dragon Quest 10 gets localized.
I can relate to your sister. Dragon Quest is awesome and I am just as hyped for 12 and 3 remake.
Don't forget DQ Monsters: The Dark Prince is releasing December 1st! The demo is already out!

The fact that we’re missing DQX, just because it was MMO, is nonsense. They either could’ve made it a traditional single player offline game from the start, or at least give us the offline version now, before the Switch’s lifespan comes to a close.
Go download the English patch. It's on Nexus mods. Easy to install and very good. PC and Switch, if you have a hacked Switch that is.

I'm as excited as you guys but it looks like they started with Asian territories because they localized v1~v3 years ago in the short lived Chinese version of DQX Online so, they have a bit of script saved from that version. If there's a english version planned it'll take a bit more time because v1 and v2 are the length of 2 full mainline DQ titles.
Also, Square Enix hasn't taken down the Offline fan-tl (available on Nexusmods) like it happened to DQ7 for 3DS years ago so, let's wait cautious until Square Enix provides a real announcement.

I want this game to have an official release.
I also want to hear more about DQ3 HD-2D and DQ 12. We've had multiple other Dragon Quest releases since hearing about 3 and 12 with the new Monsters game and Infinity Strash and Treasures. Square...realize that there are in fact Western fans of Dragon Quest.
Well…DQ3 remake is coming out on November 14th 2024 and DQ1+2 remake is coming out in 2025. Still no news about DQ12 but we may also be getting it in 2025 but that’s wishful thinking.
This certainly feels like a lot of hope based on very little actual evidence. But hey, would be cool if it happened.
Now I kinda want the game to be announced the day after the next Direct, just so we can get the leaf
The February 2019 Direct had an entire big segment dedicated to Dragon Quest XI S, so I would not be surprised if the February 2024 Direct had an entire big segment dedicated to Dragon Quest X Offline.

Will Nintendo publish DQ10 off-line in traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese and Korean? Yes, probably.
Will it show up in a Nintendo direct? Yes, probably.
Will it be in English, in the western directs? Nope, doubt it.
I was so sad when this didn't come out on wii in America. I came into the series with 9 and was always looking for new online wii games to play. I might have put more hours into this than monster hunter tri. Will definitely pick it up if it comes to the west.
The Switch is the biggest platform for Dragon Quest in general right now. That said I need Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 3, DQM Terry's Wonderland & Cobi & Tara's Adventure.

Bare minimum if it’s on PC someone will make an easy to use translation patch even if Square doesn’t do it in English. Dragon Quest XI 3DS got that treatment too until Square shut it down because XI S has the 3DS content.

I feel pretty unsettled. I was just looking up stuff about this game and DQXclarity, only to see a video talking about a potential official localization within the same timeframe.
Dragon quest is my favorite series. Ever. By far. Hoping and praying to god this is true. I played the demo for about an hour using muscle memory and thought it was so fun but I had to turn it off because it made me sad. Between online and offline demos I probably have 10 hours in dq10 lol. So so so hopeful
awww the online is the best part of this game, traveling around and doing dungeons and stuff with friends is so fun
i don't care what they look like, i would still play it if it ever gets released. dragon quest 11 on 3ds looks vivid, which i don't mind. too bad it's japan only

The game is super long too. So, of they are localising it, it could just be the absurd amount of text they have to translate. And maybe voice act too.

I couldn't wait anymore for the MMORPG so I made a trial account with the VPN and eng translation tools. Game is really cozy but I feel like if they would ever localize it then they would've already done it at this point. I doubt we'll ever get it.
I bought the offline version from playasia and played it with Google translate, its a fun version so if it ever gets localized I'm buying it again so that I can play it without holding a phone all the time

I love Dragon Quest so much i bought the japanese version when i was in Japan.
My ideal would be to get the online MMO version worldwide, but I'd be more than happy to get the offline version, just so I can play DQ10 in _some_ way.

I've been playing FF11 recently as well, I hope they make both DQX and FFXI offline SP games, such a tragedy how great they are and how a lot of people cant play them!
I really hope it happens, Dragon Quest X is incredible and offline covers the base game and with DLC the V2 expansion which I played for 250 hours there's a ton of content and I didn't even do everything
I think that the reason why they haven't announced that DQ10 Offline is coming to global yet is because that releasing a tiny version with chibis of something people really wanted and had no other version of might not be worth the backlash. (see reactions to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl and World of Final Fantasy for reference on what might happen)
I have a feeling that what they might be doing is trying to get both DQ10 Offline and DQ10 Online to the global market around the same time, most likely having DQ10 Online become an offline system or with a P2P multiplayer system. And if they can't do that, it might be better to not release any DQ10 at all and just wait til DQ12.

I bought a copy of dragon quest x and I been playing with Google translate the translation is rough sometimes but the story is about understandable its a pain navigating some menus but with a little trial and error it's pretty functional to play dragon quest offline on the switch if you have a phone and some patience.
Next they need to port IV, V and VI over to the Switch because the prices on the DS versions are ridiculous.
I played DQX Offline when it came out. The graphics are honestly abysmal (at least on Switch) but the gameplay and story were really good. I clocked in at like 70 hours, but there are still loads more quests left to do. Was gonna get the Book 2 DLC but I'll wait to see if we get an English version first.
There is DLC story content in the Offline version ?
Yeah, the online version has like 6 or so expansions. The offline one only covers the base game, but there was DLC to add the first expansion from the online version.@@Terranigma23
@@Terranigma23 Offline's base content only covers about the same as the base content of its Online equivalent, as indicated by its subtitle. The DLC covers the content of Online's first expansion and I imagine it's gonna be the same for every subsequent version.

It's actually not at all weird that it came out on the 3DS - a lot of people in the west don't understand how well the 3DS sold in Japan. It's the fourth best selling console of all time in Japan, it sold better than the Wii and any PlayStation console

Play it, you need 30 minutes to set it up and it works perfectly, it will blow you up, trust me, don't make yourself have future regrets of not enjoying such an awesome game when it will die

The fan translation of the main DQX Online is apparently caught up to current content now.
I'm pretty much retired from MMORPG's but i'd be more than happy to return for DQ10. The main problem with bringing DQ10 over is that they don't want to compete with themselves. SE already has FF11 and 14 still going strong here. In addition, as much as it hurts to say it; DQ just isn't popular here in the west, and translating it for an English release would be a major undertaking with very little upside.
That's why I thought an offline DQ10 would have been a slam dunk to release here. It wouldn't require everything to be translated and future expansions could be paid DLC. Sadly, DQ10 is still vaporware here in the US and DQ12 and DQ3 remake have been largely silent so a game that's basically done should have filled that gap but instead, we get Joker 2...

I can't proof this info but when the game came out in japan i read somewhere that it was split into two parts and that the second part would come out a little later (compareable to the monster hunter games back in the days, when we in the west only got the game with the add on). so it makes sense that the game comes out now that this second part came out... i never checked this info so it could be BS

Console games basically don't have a market in China, and Korea too has a much larger PC market. So I feel like this is just an Asia thing? This doesn't explain PS being there tho
If they don't release a trailer, and John has to follow true, it's a sign that he wants Square to "leaf" him alone
My knee jerk position is initial skepticism. But if the game is already localized into other languages, then the development cost of adding English, and possibly other western languages, could be memorable. Nintendo does have a policy of doing its own product announcements, so it’s not a massive reach.
I would love to play DQ11 offline. But I will put my nickel down and dismiss the possibility of MMO localization outside Japan. The financial outlay, including data centers, would preclude it. DQ is a niche brand out here regardless of how committed the fans are to that brand
Also, why would Square Enix dilute their investment by localizing both online and offline versions at the same time. Realistically they would do one project, the one with a more attractive business case. That’s the offline version for sure

If I remember correctly fans where disappointed because it was only the vanilla story with no expansions
I think the first expansion is dlc, I don't know if they will do every expansion though.

Hear me out, I'm guessing a partner/indie direct next month (Nov 2023) for Nintendo. There still seems to be several missing announcements this year, including this one for DQX, that the company seems to be keeping under wraps and it probably won't be until Feb 2024 that we would get the next proper mainline Direct which seems too far out. I also really doubt Nintendo's gonna have anything to show at the Game Awards, they've hardly had any presence over the last few years.
small nitpick but the title should be "DQ10 Offline" some people were asumming we are getting Online which it isn't the case (well, Offline wasn't confirmed either so 😅)

If it's a main series will always be Roman Numerals.
Also still agree about the release not confirmed yet since the DQ news must have that ding ding noise for confirmation but we didn't hear anything so this guy is speculating just to give others hope.
I am hoping next which I do see a release of Dragon Quest Erdrick 2D-HD Trilogy in the future next year. Maybe we will see a better trilogy of DQXII.

its only possible if they use the work of the fans who have already translated it themselves. Lord knows they haven't done it themselves.

While it would be cool and I love Dragon Quest, I think this is a reach and that it isn't happening. The MMO (online version) also used to be available in Chinese, so it makes sense they'd make the offline version as well since they already have the translated script. Same with Korean. PC is more popular in China and PC/PS4/PS5 is more popular in Korea, which is why Switch isn't listed. Just a series of coincidences, there's nothing to read into here.
That said, the Steam version could get a fan-translation.

That's fantastic news indeed. I won't deny, however, that I'm still disappointed about the drastic change in the visuals. They could've used the assets from the online version, maybe brushed them up a little bit, scaled down the maps, dialed down the grinding, and it would've been *perfect*. But no, they had to completely remake the game in a chibi style. I'll play it as I've always been fascinated with DQX, but deep down I wish they just used the original assets instead of doing this. Not even DQIX is this chibified despite being on the DS.
