- This video is of a trip we took to the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon is located in northwestern Arizona, inside the Grand Canyon National Park. It is often called one of the Wonders of the World, and it is a site that everyone should see. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long, 18 miles wide, and 1 mile deep. The Colorado River flows through it, and it is a very impressive, beautiful natural landform. It has layered bands of red rock, some are 250 million years old, and some are1.2 billion years old. What happened during the hundreds of millions of years between is somewhat of a mystery.
We took this trip in the very early days of the pandemic. We experienced very little traffic on the roads and very few people everywhere, even at the Grand Canyon. It was a strange, eerie experience that also felt like a wonderful, welcomed, temporary change from our normal lives. We enjoyed our isolation, ate meals in parking lots, and tried not to worry about the future.
After one night in our hotel, the hotel closed down due to the pandemic and we had to leave. We decided to continue our vacay in Sedona, rather than come home to California which had started a lockdown. We hiked in Sedona and it was also an amazing place to be.
