I lived in Phoenix for 3 years. I loved going to Sedona. I moved back to my home in Kentucky and married my childhood sweetheart. Sedona is the first out of town date I took her on. Thankyou for the memories.
I just watched a video on Sedona, I think it is one of the most beautiful places I've seen. And then I saw your video & I thought, watching Sedona again, from a different perspective, would be wonderful. Plus the fact that you both appealed to me immediately, coming across as really nice people. And I love the life you are living. Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Living beneath Cathedral Rock I see people getting rescued due to falls (occasionally) and dehydration (frequently) - don't take it lightly when the signs at trailheads like Devils Bridge say to bring one gallon of water per person. The elevation and desert climate are very different than hiking elsewhere, so start with easier hikes until you know your body is acclimated. Timing is everything in Sedona. Spring and fall are busy but spectacular, summer can be brutally hot, but winter is quite amazing in that there are plenty of sunny days in the 50s and 60s. And if you happen to be around when it snowson the red rocks, you'll be awestruck. Weekends are busier than weekdays, and earlier is better than later for driving, dining or hiking. The 20 minute drive can become 45 minutes between the Village of Oak Creek and Sedona proper when it's busy, so check traffic before you go if you have reservations for anything. It's really sad I need to say this, but when visiting Sedona, please have respect for nature and the places you visit here. In the short time I've lived here I've seen loads of trash and graffiti appearing in places like the indian ruins, people pick flowers and rocks to take with from everywhere, and loud, rude people climb on walls and statues and move sacred items around in religious spaces to take pictures/videos for their social media accounts. Please DON'T!
Thanks for the local perspective. Sadly for me I’ll be heading there on a weekend in May so I’ll have to deal with the traffic and all. Any easy hikes you could recommend? I don’t have to be at the most popular place is either. Thanks!
Also what will the weather be like (usually) in late May? If it’s warm/hot, is it cooler at night? What is there to do if it rains? I heard restaurants and stores close early there is that true? Is there any kind of nightlife?
@@cre8tivity06 There are a handful of music venues, but nightlife isn't what people come here for. Flagstaff is a college town, so it's probably your best bet at about 45-60 minutes away.
@@cre8tivity06 It's usually 30ish degrees cooler at night that time of year. And we have found it's truly a rare occasion where we've needed alternate plans due to weather, but if it's more than just a passing shower the rain can produce some amazing waterfalls off the rocks. Just know if you climb to get closer, those rocks get really slippery.
I have lived in Phoenix for 29 years and Sedona is one of my favorite places and I go all the time. You taught me so much and I can’t wait to plan another trip. Except I usually go on the weekends. Busy time right now! One place I can recommend to you is West Fork Trail. You will actually walk along Oak Creek. Very shaded and so beautiful. Must get there early due to minimal parking. Looking forward to adding a few of these to my next adventure.

Planning my trip to Arizona and heard I should check out Sedona, lo and behold your video is recommended! Thank you so much for the informative and entertaining video, you two are a lovely couple and I wish you many more years of exploring and traveling all over the country!
I enjoyed this video. Appropriate length in order to cover the content well, and the trail tips (actually hiking them and measuring the distance compared with All Trails description) is helpful and appreciated. Also helpful was describing the trails as slippery and just being honest if a trail is risky/dangerous (i.e. the Subway Cave).
Going to Sedona in April 2023 - very excited!! Thank you for this informative video, I especially appreciate the in-depth reviews of the hikes you completed. Safe travels!!

I try to pick clothes that work together in various ways. A hat and long sleeved shirts are musts for sun protection and I always wear sun screen. Have a great time on your trip. Thank you again!
I’m visiting Arizona from Minnesota. Stumbled upon your van life video while planning my Sedona trip this weekend - it’s incredibly well-made and packed with useful tips. I’m excited to explore all the places you mentioned. Thanks for putting together such a great resource!

Great insight. Look forward to the suggested trails. We are moving to Tucson in a few months and will be spending a lot of weekends in our favorite place , Sedona!
I love your videos! Sedona is my favorite AZ location and I’m gonna visit that cave. Years ago I got lost in boyton canyon I’ve learned a lot since then
Just now watched and love you guys already. We are of a similar age and interests. Very enjoyable with the rare info about some history and orher useful trail details. Also love the familiar sense of humor. Excellent video!
Thank you for this informative and enjoyable video. We'll be in Sedona next October and I've added Doe mountain on top of my bucket list. And I'm definitely gonna check out your channel.
Thank you for this travel blog!! I just returned from Sedona, only 24 hour stay. I was looking for more info and you gave a great account!! I will be back to this beautiful place soon and spending more time. Thx for the suggestions!
What a great tour. We will be there in March as we have been wanting to go for 20 years now since family moved there. Also it has been 40 years since we were out west. So excited.
Thanks so much. There’s just so much to see in the US, but we’ve been in Baja for the past three months and I have to say it’s pretty freaking amazing here!
Hi guys. You've just got a new subscriber. We hope to be in Sedona in 2024 as part of a road trip from Vegas down into Arizona and up into the parklands of Utah. We are from England and have visited the Grand Canyon and Zion national park before. Your video was very insightful and very very beautiful. I think we need to book a couple of nights there as it seams there's too much to take in with just a one day stay. Safe journeys and I look forward to seeing more of your channel. Regards, Paul.
Thanks so much for the nice comment Paul I think you’ll really enjoy Sedona and yes you need more than just the day there. It’s a fabulous place. Thanks for watching.
We just found your channel. Hubby and I are finishing up our shuttle bus build and plan to hit the road within the next few weeks. Thank you for making this video! We will definitely visit there.
Thanks so much. We’ve been fulltime on the road in our self built van for a year and a half now. Don’t hesitate to ask for advice. Good luck with your build.
Totally enjoyed this video! I appreciated the humor very much too (burying placentas at the BirthingCave! LOL). I LOVE AZ as you do, will be visiting Sedona soon and this was inspiring. Also, did I see Oboz brand hiking shoes? My fav!! I’m subscribed! Stay well. Lynn
Thanks for the sweet comments Lynn! Yes, AZ is an amazing place. Just as amazing is where we are now-central Rockies. We’ll be doing some Colorado videos soon, Creede, Gunnison and Salida. Yes, those were Oboz on both of us. Unfortunately couldn’t find another pair-ANYWHERE-that fit so now wearing Keens which I don’t like nearly as much.
I was going to say I'm surprised you didn't mention Wet Beaver Creek, but I looked it up and that's not technically in Sedona (though it's very close). It's worth a visit, basically a multiple hours-long hike up these red rock paths that leads you to this pond-like area with rocks you can jump from into it, when I went there were tons of people there just chilling. And I mean it when I say "chilling" because the water was cold, lol. Very nice after being scorched in the sun.
Nice footage. Thanks for sharing and the thorough, detailed tips and advice. By the way, are you at all worried about termites infesting your spectacles??
I’m heading to Sedona in late May. This will be the first time ever in Arizona and the first time ever doing any kind of hiking. What would say are the easy hikes to check out? I’m going there mainly to do photography but I wanted to do at least 1-2 easy hikes while I’m there just to say I did one or two ha ha. I do not like snakes. Did you see more snakes other than the one you had on video? I have a feeling I’ll be watching this video again for more tips I may have missed ha ha.
There are so many really easy hikes, see the first one in the video. Stay away from boulder and rock piles and you’ll be more likely to avoid snakes. That was the only one we saw. Have fun!
Wow! Thanks for the video! I am going to subscribe to your channel! My husband and I have a van and have been thinking about going out on the road like you two are doing. We just have to save money ney to go! 🤣...😭
Do you mean the cairens? They’re everywhere on the trails so don’t trust them. Many of them probably mark a waypoint but many more are just people having fun being “creative” by stacking rocks.
These were at the entrance to one of the openings of the caves they were pretty high. But like you said it was probably done just by visitors. I was thinking they might have been there from a long time ago. Thanks for clearing it up. Happy Trails😀🌻🌞
We off roaded the boulders of Sedona and camped directly on top a rock cliff with no tent- just our sleeping bags and bedrolls. We woke up with ice crystals on us, but the stars were worth it. They were as big as quarters!
I spent a week staying in Flagstaff(cheaper rates) and visiting Sedona around Easter one year. One thing I didn't hear you say was the huge difference in energy between the outdoor sites and the in-town sites(e.g. shops, etc.), despite what you say about so-called environment-savvy building. Maybe they should have consulted an energy expert.
I visited Sedona 11 years ago and I remember hearing it’s natural electric energy in random places all around me. Then I went back 11 years later and I didn’t experience any sounds like before. What happened to those vibration sounds? Why did it stopped? Or does it not happen all the time? I’m curious to know if anyone else knows what I’m talking about. :)
With drone footage and Birds Eye view…..you could see faces on those rocks…seems water made those rocks to formate in that nature but they don’t seem like regular rocks..MORE LIKE HISTORY
Shelly here! I met you both (and Charlie) atop of Doe Mountain. This video was very well done as I related to it in every way! But wait...there is a Walmart in Sedona? Where is it?
Hey Shelly! Did you go to Subway Cave (did we talk about that)? Oops, you’re right. Maybe we saw Walgreens. Thanks for pointing that out and commenting.
@@CubbyVanLife I did go to the Subway Cave thanks to your suggestion. I also went to the Buddah Peace Park that you talked about. Loved both! I agree that Sedona has done a great job blending the buildings/businesses into the landscape. Such a special place. I look forward to following you on your future travels.
New subscriber here, thank you for this presentation. A beautiful part of the country and I have not seen this area covered as thoroughly as you have. The video and audio production is ideal but too many adds, almost every 2.5 minutes. Let’s hope Charlie, Chuck or (?) doesn’t get confused by his many names.
@@bobbiemayers354 I use one tracking pole mostly because I always have something else in my other hand like my dog leash or my phone, and also because I don’t feel the need to use two. Why do I use one? Because I’m 62. It makes going up and especially down steep slopes, a lot easier, and much safer.
@ if you’re my age and you fall on a steep rocky trail…you’re getting f?$&d up. You’re not rolling and saying “whoa, awesome dude!” Having something to lean on going down those slopes, or something to enable you to use your arms and not just legs to get up steep slopes is also useful. Also makes a nice self defense weapon. 😉
Great channel! How do you find the locations where you can camp withyhe van? Is tht a good.app for that of you just surf in google maps along the way? Thanks
Miguel, thanks for the nice comment. We do half and half - use an app and use Google Maps satellite view. The indispensable app for vanlife is iOverlander. We usually start with that. Then if there’s nothing good in our area we look at satellite view to identify out of the way secluded spots. Especially in National Forests. We also just cruise around looking for a spot that looks safe and quite if we’re in or near a town. Last night, by cruising, we found a large abandoned Burger King parking lot next to a big truck stop with a lot of trucks overnighting. Totally cool.

Have fun!
@@CubbyVanLife Awesome! Thanks for the advice!!
New Subscriber HERE! Love the video and information
Thanks so much! Hope you like our others as well.
Wow! Thanks for the video! I am going to subscribe to your channel! My husband and I have a van and have been thinking about going out on the road like you two are doing. We just have to save money ney to go! 🤣...😭
Thanks Cina. We if you need any advice don’t hesitate to hit us up. Good luck, see you on the road.
Great video! Can you tell me what music is playing though the Telaquepaqe?
Sorry I don’t recall the name of it but it’s from the RUclips free music library
NM really is a nice place to visit.... especially Santa Fe and the Taos areas.
Agreed. We’re from New Mexico and will be uploading a BIG NM video soon!
Casal Bonito, ABRAÇO DE PORTUGAL
Thanks great info.
You’re welcome Nick, thanks for watching.
P.S. I noticed the stacked rocks at one of the locations I think it was subway trail. Did it mention anything about them?. Just wondering.😀
Wow that sounds like an amazing adventure! A little cold for us, but amazing nonetheless. Thanks for sharing.
Great intro 🏆 you are so cool and funny. Can you show us Graceland, Elvis Presley’s House ? 💋💋💋
Now that would be fun! Especially the Jungle Room.
U guys amazing.
Thanks so much!!
I’m sorry I’m not sure what you’re referring to regarding environment-savvy building. Can you elaborate?
I visited Sedona 11 years ago and I remember hearing it’s natural electric energy in random places all around me. Then I went back 11 years later and I didn’t experience any sounds like before. What happened to those vibration sounds? Why did it stopped? Or does it not happen all the time? I’m curious to know if anyone else knows what I’m talking about. :)
I certainly don’t but I’m sure someone does 😉
Thank you!💗
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching.
How long did it take you to complete Boynton Canyon trail, including subway trail?
I’m sorry I don’t remember how long it took but I would allow at least a half day.
I wish there was something I could do about the ads but alas there is not. That’s controlled by RUclips
Which campsite were you at in Jemez in yhe Sedona video?
Thanks!
Vista Linda
Thank You, love the video very helpful in a trip Im working up!

Trekking poles? Do you use one or two and why
@@CubbyVanLife yes I am 59 and see lots of younger folks using them so it’s on my must buy list
@@CubbyVanLife thanks a lot for this info. Ill go check it out.! Happy travels!
I'm considering moving to Sedona but am concerned about plentiful water. Any thoughts?
I don’t know the answer to that, but hopefully you’re rich. That’s the only way you can afford to live there!
Was this in early May ? Trying to determine time of year to go
It actually WAS the first week of May. Perfect weather when we were there.
@@CubbyVanLife Ty for the quick reply! Good info !
I remember when you could walk any of those trails and see maybe 5 people the whole time. Or none. The less the merrier I always say.
Ypu cant go anywhere, and I mean anywhere, and only see five people anymore.
