One of the very few artists that has a very distinct voice that is impossible to emulate. The tone and her voice texture is just angelic and heavenly to listen to. Was shocked to know that she never had a Grammy during her peak.. and was only given a lifetime achievement award just very recently at the Grammy's.
And she did all of that sitting down, beautiful voice. No auto tune No, nothing. Just a timeless, classy beauty with a beautiful, rich voice sounding just like the recording.
I know Oprah is just another human being, but her acts/works in this world put her exponentially in a stratosphere that is oh my God but you know it is just amazing when even Oprah is amazed and overwhelmed 🥹🥹🥹Diana Ross really is just the best. 🙋🏽♀️I love this rendition of when this song even gets to her🥹
This viewer loves the music idea to have Ms. Ross and World Class Jazz & Pop Vocalist - Ms. Angelina Jordan Sing Together - Sharing the Classic's on one Stage.!!! Sooo fun to see this thought in real life one day... Smile's DD.
She actually probably would have done well on Broadway; she has a voice for it. This song sounds like it could have fit in a musical! Oprah is blown away--and it's not like Oprah's a nobody!
Her voice is just so unique that anyone can easily recognize it. The emotions just go with every lyrics of the song. Powerful yet very soothing to the ears. Truly, a music virtuoso.
I saw this interview years ago on TV and was so touched by it. I couldn't remember the singer's name and so I doubt that I could have found it on RUclips. Thank you for posting!
Geez, who would say that? I've never met anyone who said she couldn't sing. But if anyone really doubted then this may be proof how emotional, clear and exceptional her voice (and mostly her phrasing) is.
Yes, I can imagine that was tough. The whole 'RTL' thing was a hard time for Ms. Ross 😥 It wasn't her fault, but it was doomed by bad publicity. Mostly because of mary wilson 😡 The strain showed on the 'Divas' show as well.
If memories serves me correct, she was around 65 or maybe older at the time here..proves to me that Whitney and Mariah’s voice could have lasted a lot longer, had they took care of it.especially Mariah, because we know Whitney struggled with drugs, but has a huge Mariah fan she should have sounded way better than she does now..Pattie in her late 60s voice was impeccable too..am not sure if Miriam smoked ? According to some experts they claimed the over usage of the whistle register is what damaged her voice ?
You are correct. Age barely has anything to do with a deteriorating voice. Young singers who are not classically trained often do not take care of their voices while in their youth and they suffer the consequences for it as they get older. Mariah has struggled with alcoholism which has a negative impact on your voice just as much as drugs and cigarettes.
And she’s singing it sitting down, this lady is a Boss
It’s my turn has been my go-to song whenever i feel so lost and down.
This is one of her most beautiful songs! These lyrics! This voice!
You can tell Oprah is in awe of the one and only, the legendary Lady Diana Ross.

I don't think this song could be sung by anyone else.
Wow! What a moment!
And she did all of that sitting down, beautiful voice. No auto tune No, nothing. Just a timeless, classy beauty with a beautiful, rich voice sounding just like the recording.

One of my FAVORITES by Queen Diana Ross & the message/lyrics in that song is SOOOO true
ANYONE can relate to even in 2024
A real singer can just open up her mouth and let the words flow out...pitch perfect as well!
I watched a video that said when recording Baby Love that she wasn't even trying to sing cause she was not in the mood. So truly effortless talent.
@@gracegreen1859 that was actually Where Did Our Love Go. Not Baby Love
@@dddddadadad1796 thank you but it’s the same tone so I’m sure she didn’t even try with Baby Love too. She is just effortless.
