"Medea" is a piece inspired by the Monologue of Medea from Euripides' tragedy. After sending her children with poisoned gifts to Glauce, the bride of Jason, Medea experiences a moment of doubt when she sees them returning. She debates within herself whether her revenge was sufficient and if she could somehow still spare the lives of her children. Starting from this situation, I asked myself: What does it actually mean to kill the ones you love? How does Medea's identity as a mother conflict with her fight to escape the humiliation, injustice and betrayal of Jason? And most importantly: What does this ancient tragedy say about our contemporary issues such as revenge, justice, and morality.
