Personal favorite. Hidden gem in the catalog. Huge INXS fan.
Word...
I'm only 21 but I grew up on their music because of my mom. R.I.P mom 💙
💗
Losing mother at such a young age is heartbreaking... I am so sorry for ur loss.. May she rest in peace.... All my strengths and love with you 🙏❤❤
@@JEEASPIRANTWITHLOTSOFBACKLOG thank you 🥺
Sorry for your lost
18 from vice city 🥴
Wrote there own songs, made there own beats, and filmed there own videos..true talent! Never gets old!!
Listen! I just wanna use your love toniiiiiight.
And amazing live
Well said
Richard Lowenstein filmed the videos from this Listen Like Thieves and KICK.
One of the best song of INXS
100% agree!!
X2
The 80s were special, almost magical.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm a gamer, I discovered this song through Vice City-I was born in 1991 and I was just short of that awesome decade that was the Eighties but I've since grown to truly love all of INXS' music and I think Michael Hutchence was a truly special performer the likes of which we'll never see again.
He truly was.
My wife and I talk about him a lot.
Much like you, she kind of missed out on so much great music, born in '88 and growing up in a small country town .
I've tried to expose her to all manner of interesting music in the hopes she'll like it but with INXS, no effort is required.
The only problem was having to tell her that Michael died before she even knew who he was.
Broke her heart. She cried.
Mee too!
We'll see at least one more Michael Hutchence sort soon... No worries 😏
I Was There For The Whole 80's Period. That Was The Best Decade.I Would Like To Go Back In Time.I Just Came Across This Gem By Inxs.I Love It Especially Michael Hutchence He Is So Missed❤
My favorite game was GTA: Vice City too I just brought that song on iTunes lol it's the best I heard the song on the game
It's hard to beat the energy and optimism that 1980s music had
ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU CONSIDER THE SOURCES, SOMETIMES...
Я тоже их очень люблю! Бесподобная группа!
Everything 80's is AWESOME!!! BEST ERA EVER!!! LOVED THE 80'S💓💓🎵🎼
Ahh, before the woke revolution!
It had so much optimism! Even in film!
Most underrated front man ever. Good looking, great voice, charisma. Good band.
Nobody like him that is for sure.
Don’t think he was under rated mate.
INXS was a great band, musically and visually. Miss them a lot.
a might late in my response but agreed ! APROPOS that you would enjoy a great short film FULL MOON DIRTY HEARTS which is a visual album of theirs should still be up somewhere! CHEERS!
They were nothing without Michael.
@@chrissimpson6701 it’s kind of ironic that in the beginning Michael was probably the weak link as they were all multi-instrumentalist and he was just a scrawny kid who wrote poetry that had an average voice but then became the Michael Hutchence we all know
we all miss them
I liked that basketball song: SUICIDE AND ALL, YOU WANNA MAKE A, SUICIDE AND ALL -
the album is still freakin' amazing.
That voice 😍 and beautiful man, was he. Miss you beloved Michael. I'm so sorry you were in pain and didn't find the happiness you deserved.
Yes, he was gorgeous inside and out! What a talented singer and I wish I had grown up during his time! How lucky people are that got to see him live in concert! Nothing today sounds half as good and his voice is unmatched! He is missed by every generation!! 💕
He had happiness and everything.. just when the accident happened to where he wasnt able to smell or taste drove him into deep depression and drugs.. as would anyone else he had 4 beautiful daughters.
Favorite INXS song.
Mine too used to listen to this in the ARMY and my First Sergeant called I N X S, instead of INXS. Funny great Times in the army 88-92.
Another favorite is Melting In The Sun. Unless you have the album itself, most people dont get to hear all the great songs by INXS that were not played over the radio.
@@wandaguidry6413 I've found that the deep cuts on many albums are my favorites, or among them at least. LLT has no filler... everything on it is just outstanding.
Me too. Happy/sad memories of a time long gone.
Tossup between this and burn for you for me
The Listen Like Thieves album was such a great album. I played it so much I wore it out LOL!
Oh hell yes! "What You Need" hooks you, and this is one of the songs that reel you in.
and countless walkman, many gave there lives in my service, except that one I threw off the Manly Ferry for chewing up my Midnight Oil tape of the JJJ ten year anniversary Oils on the Water.
Listen Like Thieves is still my favorite Inxs album. A real masterpiece... even more so than Kick, I think (which is a close second).
Not one bad song. When it first came out, I worked out listening to the entire album and to this day, I still use it for my work out.
I had this album in middle school. I wore it out, TWICE! Had to start buying CDs. Kick and Thieves were my first.
Andrew Farriss and Michael were song writing geniuses. I saw INXS twice, The last time was at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney in 1984
I was very fortunate to see them 3 times. First in 83 opening up for men at work. Inxs blew them away. I was hooked. Front row for Kick in Indy
Andrew Farriss still is.
Quelle chance !!!!!!! (
Use to drive around in the 80's playing this cassette. Miss those days - before CELL PHONES.
Truly. I loathe the things and what they've done to the culture.
Aaaaagh!!!CELL PHONEZ!!!!!!!!
CELL PHONE BAD! AGHHHH MY BOOMER BODY HAS AN AVERSION TO PHONEZ!!11
Better to say: Fckin IPHONES !!
CELLphones...
We are everytime getting controlled by them.
Their music just blows all the crap put out now out of the water. Every damn song they did was epic. I get lost in this nightly. If only Michael knew how much people would still love his music in 2020...
Well said, and Michael was wrong, he had said, there was too much up and coming talent behind them, (if he wasn't front and center) wrong!! There just isn't and that's why he's called the last Rock Star. There is a painful lack of talent like this!!
So true Lisa ...my fave band since I was 12 I'm 50 now there music never ages
@@rossbuchan6593 Awesome music Ross, I couldn’t agree more!
Please forgive me for pointing out the following though-if you are 50+ now.
The confusing three...
There as in “look over there!”
Their as in “their car was parked”
They’re, abbreviated for they are, as in “they’re not going to like me pointing these grammar errors out”
Yes I’m a grammar nazi!
Respect for a fellow who loves the same music I do!

it doesn't get any better than INXS...
Still sounds sensational.........34 years after being released.
Just like Elvis, Prince, Bowie and George Michael, there will never be another Michael Hutchence. He was the Jim Morrison of our generation. Still not sure if it was an accidental death, suicide or murder. RIP beautiful!
"Some days I am everything that I hate. There's nothing if the truth won't survive."
He always reminded me of of Jim Morrison also 👍👍
Yeah another talent gone way too soon !!
That's beautiful as a fellow Aussie myself Michael could make you happy sad at the same time with his voice and your right no one will ever sing like him ever 😀
You know, I never even thought of that, but you're right - Jim Morrison is a great comparison.
I don't think he's dead cause legends never die!
i literally crying for just discovering this song at 26 years old
Then you'll really cry when you search for the last rehearsal where they perform it..😥
Wow
I count myself fortunate! Born and raised in Nashville so, like everyone else, I was in a band. Started 1980 at 14 and spent those wonderful teen years playing covers of INXS, Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls, Loverboy and even Donnie Iris. Also, got to see INXS live at Starwood Amphitheatre!!! It was an amazing time to be alive!!!!!!
pushing 60, saw the stones, genesis, pink floyd, and many more. Michael was THE best frontman I ever had the pleasure of seeing. So engaging and a booming voice to beat. So pure and easy. Aussies (midnight oil) always brought it!!
One of many songs that I love by INXS.
INXS had the most awesome bass players of the 80's
Nobody writes them any more like this
the melody of the chorus touches my spirit in a vey immense feeling.. this song is EPIC
Absolutely
Yeah…Nowadays it’s over processed rap that celebrates rape culture (yes, that’s the truth-Just listen to G-Easy’s “No Limits” and you’ll see what I mean)
Still listening in 2023, my 80s playlist is a prescription for stayin kewl 😎
Early INXS was so good! They were hungry for success then. And they reached the Pinnacle with that incredible Wembley Stadium concert. That was their peak! Then it went all downhill after that and ended in tragedy.
RIP MH-You were Great!
Such a beautiful song. It’s the best song from a brilliant album.
Love your screen name. Antifa are grubs
My passion for INXS will Never end .
I remember Inxs being alternative! Nobody heard of them. Depeche and U2 etc. We're alternative music. Anybody been listening that long?
Just shut up and let people enjoy the music!! Acting like you're the founder of the band!!
The one thing inxs could never do was disappoint
I'm absolutely in love with this bass line)
I will argue that this is the best INXS tune.
If you disagree, meet me in the mall parking lot to settle it.
Their chill tunes are amazing. See...Beautiful girl.
😂 Australian here - their earlier synth tracks I.e 'To Look at You' slightly better! But agreed this is a ripper ! I was weened on them !
The bass and drums are so integral to Inxs's sound... Stellar...
There will Never be another Michael Hutchence ...this guy.. oozed Sexy and a appeal on a microphone that made you shiver at his voice.. he is so missed... loved the band.. the music.. never be another like Them..
yes, indeed that one mold each person on this planet iz or has.........
Michael was supremely talented, INXS is eternal
Brilliant song.... brilliant band.... still so relevant after all these years... miss you Michael 💔
they were great, one of Australia's best exports
Miss you Michael 💓
❤️🔥
I loved them back in the late 80's/early 90's. Despite some huge hit songs they were always a bit overlooked and underrated by the mainstream audience, in my view.
I love when the keyboard kicks in at 1:14! Thank you Vice City!!!
my favorite of the album and my top ten of they songs!Argentina loves u INXS!
That breakdown near the end is supreme 👌
This song sits in my psyche and reappears at the most stunning moments. So beautiful. ❤
Such a carefree and timeless time in music. I will forever be searching for the parallel universe where I was at this moment in time....
look up L.A.B in the air...

Ive found it. A long time ago. Hope you find yours.
I was about 16 years old in New South Wales. It was okay I suppose 😏
My fave INXS song
I don't think they ever had a bad song.
I agree they had so many great songs what a band they were so unique and hutch is truly the best frontman ever one of a kind
Every band has 'bad' or lesser songs ......Inxs is no exception .....which is no shame , one can't be perfect all the time .
PaulLonden name one...
*@jerp pin* No use pointing out some .....especially from their first two albums and last one.
Admittedly their mid 80's period saw few if any bad songs . Wouldn't call them "bad" also , just "lesser" .
PaulLonden I like every song from their first 2 albums (INXS, underneath the colors)... I don’t find any of those songs bad
I am so thankful that INXS made a world of difference in my life!!! Just when this screwed up world starts getting on my nerves, I can listen to Michael and the Band restore some sanity in ME!!! BELLA!! BELLA!!!!
Listen Like Thieves - absolutely brilliant album
Happy 59th Birthday Michael!!! Love you and miss you always.
I remember when inxs owned the place they were the best seen them in concert in daytona and orlando totally awesome
My first introduction to INXS and 80's new wave/pop in general. Thank you Vice City!
Oh this album!❤❤❤❤
Amen sister
I just love how free this is. Just pure happiness. I cried. Thank you, guys.
I had Listen Like Thieves on vinyl and cassette back in the 80s, and it was one of the records I listened to before high school and on the way home from school riding my Hutch freestyle bike.
Those were incredible times.
This was a great band.
+One Man's Chorus still is,
This song and video = happiness. Thank you, boys.
thanks Hutch (never forgoten), thanks INXS, greetings to Australia from Polska.
This makes my heart happy. So glad I grew up in the 80s and experienced INXS as a kid. Such a great time to be alive. ❤️❤️❤️
me too!!!!
So many awesome tracks. These guys will live on forever.
it doesn't get any better than INXS...
Courtesy of Vice City. That hardcore buildup at the end is simply amazing. And then the song finishes up with one last simple, chill verse. This song is pretty much just about perfect. In other words, I really wouldn't hesitate to play this song in the car with anyone, no matter who they were or what their music preference was/is. Enjoy my friends. RIP Michael we all love you and your groovy moves live on forever through us and your timeless videos and performances.
it's like two different songs and that's my favorite part of it. good comment.
Nice!!
one of my favorite INXS songs. it's a shame it got very little airplay when it was released. RIP Michael, you are missed.

Your words are the words of a rare scholar and a true gentleman.... Well said sir....

I'm gonna tell my grandkids this was Mad Max.
Sometimes I like to come here and listen to great 80s music and can't help but think how bad music is these days.
thank god for bands like INXS!
I would give both my nuts to have seen this band live in full flight! What a song, what a man, what a voice!
I saw them...1988 in Orlando FL. And yes they were every bit as great..
I went to all their concerts in my area for a couple albums starting in 1983...
I hate you all. .. :'(
I saw them on the Listen Like Thieves tour back in 80's.

I love love love love INXS! Forever a fan and forever missing Michael and his beautiful voice
I know bands ham it up for videos but I truly believe these chaps had so much fun playing their music, jamming together. I feel that happiness and pleasure come thru the songs and the videos!
Another great INXS track...
Favorite INXS song.
Hutch, thanks for the music and the memories.
This is my favorite music video of all time.
MIne too! I am surprised it did not get 18 best video awards. To me, best video of all time, love the sand and outback imagery, most of all them, the way the perform, move, smile, look at the camera, I just love even where Andrew smiles. They are all so good looking and photogenic. Amazing.
Andy Farris is my hero in this group . What a Beethoven!. A melody making ,composing machine. Pure genius!
One of their best videos and best of the best Hutchence/A. Farriss songwriting collabs!!...love how Michael dances, struts, kicks and sways. They look so young here.💓😍
Hutchence wrote the song with INXS multi-instrumentalist Andrew Farriss, who told Songfacts the meaning behind the song. "The lyric of 'Kiss The Dirt' is about how it doesn't matter how big you get as an actor or an artist or whatever field or endeavour you are involved in," said Farriss. "Eventually, whether it's age or the tyranny of time, there's a myriad of things that can happen to you, and none of us really knows where we're really going in the end. It's not supposed to be a depressing lyric. The idea is, everybody falls off the mountain eventually, doesn't matter how high you get."
"What Michael wrote is really beautiful poetically," he added. "When you're a little kid, you play in the dirt. If you've got some dirt to play on, a bit of earth, you might build a sandcastle or you might just dig a hole in your backyard, just messing around. But, you're always going to kiss the dirt in the end. Everything reverts back to the earth in the end. Everything."
My first introduction to INXS and 80's new wave/pop in general. Thank you Vice City!
Hutch, thanks for the music and the memories.
The Listen Like Thieves album was such a great album. I played it so much I wore it out LOL!
Gotta love Australian music!! ❤❤
The 80's are still the best decade of music.
Micheal so passionate about his music it is so nice each him in videos love kiss the dirt since 1985 in college
the best INXS video, so fondly when you first discovered them. great song!
Hutch, thanks for the music and the memories.
Michael Hutchence was in a class all by himself of excellence
RIP Michael on your 26th anniversary. We miss you! 😢
I still love this one.The '80s were and still are fantastic when it came to real music and videos.
22 years...tears still flow
So many awesome tracks. These guys will live on forever.
INXS is one of the most underrated bands in rock n roll history. The music is so great and Hutchence's lyrics are so poignant. I wish he was still alive and that they kept making music. RIP Michael x
Agree. It's so sad and it bothers me that Michael wanted to be remembered for his poetry and lyrics, but was defined mainly as a sex symbol. I think that was something that contributed to his depression later on towards the end of his life. To this day people mostly talk about his looks as opposed to him being a great songwriter, intelligent, worldly, etc. Yes, he was a very handsome man, but he was so much more than his looks. Wish he was still here, happy, and wish that INXS was still around. I feel they would be if he hadn't passed. I also wish I had been born way earlier than 1995 so that I could have had a better chance to see them live at least once. 😢
Why underated 🤔their world famous🙈.
These passions never seem to end...
the melody of the chorus touches my spirit in a vey immense feeling.. this song is EPIC
oh yeah!
I remember the first time I heard INXS, sometime in 1984 when the album "The Swing" came out (which by the way was fantastic). They were completely different with a new sound for me that sounded exotic, but still familiar. There was something about the way they sounded that gave me a kind of "Australian" feeling. A prominent warm bass sound, dense drums, good rhythm and a charismatic singer. "Kiss the dirt" is a good example, but it is also "Beds are burning" with Midnight Oil from the same time. A little later, Crowded House and not least Nick Cave came and emphasized the phenomenon, but in a slightly different way. In any case, there was no doubt that the starting point for the music was different from England, which at that time totally dominated the rock scene. A variation on the same theme, but still clearly different.
Well said! I totally get what you mean by "Australian feeling". I am an American and I always felt I was transported to Australia when I listened to INXS (my first "favorite" band). And this amazing song and video are so Australian...
@@VibeXplorer Another very good example of "Australian feeling" when it comes to music is The Church with the album "Starfish" (which is a classic). Admittedly, the frontman and lead guitarist (Steve Kilbey and Marty Willson-Piper, respectively) are British, but the band is Australian and sounds to me clearly Australian and nothing else :)
As a Canadian that lived in oz for few year i just love that aussie rock sound. INXS is one my fav bands.
Best band ever
Claudio Chiarella They're definitely up there.
Abdul Basir Al-Armini Yep.
My first INXS album -- All of them so fantastic. What I love most about this video is that is showcases their Aussie-ness with the beautiful Bush landscape of central Australia - paying homage to what makes them so special. Forever in-love with these guys. Bless Michael's beautiful soul.

here in 2019, what an amazing band
This song is superb! Describes life beautifully and a perfect memorial for Michael Hutchence! We all fall down the mountain end up kissing dirt but the thing that keeps us going is that SOMETIMES it doesn't hurt. Thank you INXS!!!
Memories for michael hutchence
Alien Jack - I love your comment. So true. I can't stop listening to this song, as soon as it ends I'm replaying over and over. It just gets to my brain and soul. Wish Michael Hutchence was still with us in physical form, but in his music he most definitely lives on. Such a unique and very special person, gone way to soon.

The message in this song is incredible. And then when the guitars pick up towards the end, and Michael is singing about climbing back up from whatever ails you... priceless.

INXS FOR EVER ❤
INXS POR SIEMPRE ❤
Love you Hutch! I MISS YOU!!!
Listen Like Thieves was the first album I ever heard by INXS, in 1986. It is, to me, one of their three best, the other two being Kick and X. All the other albums were great (except for the first two), but those three stand out the most to me. Listen Like Thieves also seems, to me, the most 'Australian' of their albums. I'm not certain what would makes it so Australian. It just has that feel to it. Michael did not have much of an Aussie accent, due to the fact that he did not live his whole life in Australia, but spent part of his life in Hong Kong and the US. But, on this album, he seemed to sing in such a way as to bring out what Australian accent he did have. He had such a great voice, was very handsome and sexy, and could sing like nobody's business. He was also truly and honestly talented, as well as very smart. He's still my favorite singer, and I wish he was still around.
Listen Like Thieves was by far my favorite INXS album. Almost wore out that cassette.
Best Aussie band. Love them!
