Doing acid at CMU with a crazed biologist getting his PhD at Pitt in grad school and Fugs and Dead and Wagner. A combination descending into Nibelheim with Slum Goddess from the East Side and Jerry Garcia doing Dark Star. Happy days! Life was good.
I once had a girlfriend and a boyfriend simultaneously. I didn’t see anything wrong with it. Love comes in many forms. I always thought the members of the JA were so intelligent and stood apart from other groups .
This is a David Crosby song. Doesn't mean the Airplane weren't so intelligent and they did stand apart. I think mostly though, they did a lot of drugs. 😇
David Crosby read Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land," and found the concept of 'water brother' there. Characters with multiple partners were in the book too.
Since this was the first version of Triad put out, I consider it to be the original. Easily the best on Crown of Creation. I didn't know it was Crosby's until 4 way street came out. I only first heard the unreleased Byrds recording a few minutes ago. Very good, whatever band was backing (Byrds or studio musicians) did great job. Still, no comparison to Jefferson Airplane. 50 years plus, wow it's great. One woman, two men narrative more compelling as well. Grace Slick does it justice.
You want to know how it will be Me and him OR you and me You both stand there your long hair flowing Your eyes alive your mind still growing Saying to me--"What can we do now that we both love you", I love you too-- I don't really see Why can't we go on as three You are afraid--embarrassed too No one has ever said such a thing to you Your mother's ghost stands at your shoulder Face like ice--a little bit colder Saying to you--"you can not do that, it breaks All the rules you learned in school" I don't really see Why can't we go on as three We love each other--it's plain to see There's just one answer comes to me --Sister--lovers--water brothers And in time--maybe others So you see--what we can do--is to try something new-- If you're crazy too-- I don't really see Why can't we go on as three.
I've wondered about that myself. I get the feeling that Airplane wouldn't have tried this one 'live'. Perhaps, and I'm guessing here, the song was too quiet to perform. This incredible tune has that personal/in your ear kind-of ambiance, that might not translate well if done 'live'. It's the louder/hard-rockin' tunes that the Airplane/Starship did so well. I myself have wondered if they ever tackled "Lather" in concert. Wish I had been old enough @ the time to attend their shows....such a legendary band, and every member a genius! Fly Jefferson ✈️/🚀 gets you there on 🕒!
@@DonatoDamiano-r2g You would think that, BUT they did do Today live, which is a quiet, intimate kind of song. I wonder if they did Coming Back To Me Live as well. PS- No way to put an emoji of someone whistling after "gets you there on time." : ) Record wouldn't sound right now without it. : )
@@elliotjaybaron726That's true, Elliot, they did perform "Today" @ Monterey! Forgot about that! Not even sure about "Comin' Back to Me" though. Love that tune. Marty sang that so beautifully. I love this band, and wish someone would make a movie about them! 🎥🎞️☮️♥️&Happy 🎇🎆🇺🇸
I love this version as I do the Byrds version. The Byrds version is more rock-oriented. The Airplane has that same nice acoustic vibe I get from hearing CSN's "Guinevere", also a Crosby song.
Way ahead of its time - lovely memories of those crazy student days when anything was possible.......
I once had two girlfriends; they were sisters. I loved them and they loved me. This song has such powerful meaning to me
Such an incredibly beautiful song. Grace’s voice is so one of a kind just like the woman herself. ❤️
Cerebral, peaceful and always something to say💪🏻💪🏻😎😎Love you Jefferson Airplane♥️♥️ You’ll always be a part of me♥️♥️♥️
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This was my favorite Jerfferson Airplane album and this and Lather were my favorite songs that Grace Slick sang on the album.
Such a joy to have discovered this amazing song, & by accident, too!!
Written by Crosby but this version is by far much better.
I'm 56 years old, and I'll tell you what, this is tops
My favourite version
Beautiful Version!!! 🤩😍👏🏻
Amazing song, amazing voice, amazing everything 💓💓💓
Such a gorgeous song 🔥❤️🔥
in one of his last interviews Crosby described his own personal "triad' type experiences, some included men.
So little attention for such a great song :(
i don’t even care thatsnstupid
not tryna be rude I agree but f em

Her best singing.
Crosby's solo version on Four Way Street is truly intense

Kanter was also a fan of the book. He wanted to call the band 'the Nest'.
what a trip

Not easily the best for me. But to each his own.

We Love You!

My Favorite
You want to know how it will be
Me and him OR you and me
You both stand there your long hair flowing
Your eyes alive your mind still growing
Saying to me--"What can we do now that we both love you",
I love you too-- I don't really see
Why can't we go on as three
You are afraid--embarrassed too
No one has ever said such a thing to you
Your mother's ghost stands at your shoulder
Face like ice--a little bit colder
Saying to you--"you can not do that, it breaks
All the rules you learned in school"
I don't really see
Why can't we go on as three
We love each other--it's plain to see
There's just one answer comes to me
--Sister--lovers--water brothers
And in time--maybe others
So you see--what we can do--is to try something new--
If you're crazy too--
I don't really see
Why can't we go on as three.

Jerry talked George Costanza out of any 3-way "arrangements". 😂😂
Mmmmmbeautiful
Anybody know of a live JA recording of this?

David Crosby song, Good version but still prefer Crosby's.
It was years before I heard Crosby's version. Prefer this one.
Any bisexual can remember this by heart. 💜💗💙
So can any heterosexual. Happy 2023!
Has anyone heard Tool’s cover of this song? It’s beautiful.
dammit dude you got me, i have a habit of never knowing Tool's song titles, Lateralus is 1 big song to me LOL
LMAO
very nice take. musically that is. sorry where is Marty? they could have beautifully did this in harmony. No. Crosby/Byrds all the way.
Solo Grace was the Airplane's underutilized resource and the song was perfect for her hippy love goddess persona.
I love this version as I do the Byrds version. The Byrds version is more rock-oriented. The Airplane has that same nice acoustic vibe I get from hearing CSN's "Guinevere", also a Crosby song.
hate hippies but this song is Great… serious Guess Who vibes
😂
Don't hate
