Installing and using a generic adjustable tool rest

  • I bought this tool rest for my slow speed grinder on Amazon. It's listed as the Peachtree Woodworking supply brand. I've never used the Veritas or Oneway jigs, so I can't compare to those. This jig works nicely. Most complaints on Amazon are about the adjustments not staying put. I suppose you can easily move the platform with moderate pressure. But with the pressure I use when grinding, I have not had any problems.

Can you use this on wood turning chisels?

This looks like a nice piece of kit but I'm just wondering how it would work out when you need to dress the grinding wheel using the spur-type dresser that I use?

What’s the dimensions of the base and how did you position it frontally past the diameter of your grinding wheel?

How did you set the angle on the tool rest?
