  • My Moravian workbench started to rack front-to-back. The cause is a poorly fitted tenon. I fix it with some angle bracing. I also fix the tenon by filling the gap with a thin piece of wood.

I'll admit it, I watched this almost entirely for shots of your Moravian bench. I'm in the middle of mine now. I like your tool rack idea (I'd thought to put one inbetween the tool tray and the slab itself) AND your double shelf; that's sweet. Nice work.

Thanks. Yea the shelves are a pretty natural addition to the Moravian bench frame. Helps add mass to your bench when you load it up with bench planes.

The tool holder is a pretty simple addition--it's basically just a gap in the floor of the tool well. It was an afterthought. I needed some way to store my chisels within arms reach. Before, my bench was up against a wall, so I had my chisels stored on the wall. Now it's against my garage door, so I needed to come up with a solution. The bottom of the tool well is cut about 1/2 to 3/4" narrower than the frame of the tool well. Then I added a shorter board to separate the tool holder from the rest of the tool well. This board is just pinned in place from the sides.
