Two things I want to add. Instead of going to the airport for your interview, you can find a Staples store that has a TSA pre check in it. Just search their site. Also, depending on which credit card you have, they may cover the full cost. I went to the Staples site and made an appointment for the very next day. Then I got my TSA number the following day. And capital one covered the cost.

Just did my enrollment a few days ago at a Staples near my home. Made an appointment, showed up on time, had a few people in line ahead of me, but the process was easy and painless.
When I made my online application, the web form showed me a list of nearby locations where I could make an appointment to complete my enrollment. I chose the Staples because it was the closest, but there were plenty of others.

TSA PreCheck is now a few buck cheaper - it's $78 for five years, not $85. That's not a big difference, but it's worth noting. After all, how often do prices come down for anything these days?
I enrolled in PreCheck for the first time this week. I was really surprised how fast the whole process was.
    * Submitted the application over the web on 1/8
    * Went to local Staples for an enrollment appointment on 1/11
    * Received an email with my KTN on 1/12
The enrollment appointment at Staples went smoothly and quickly. I had a few people ahead of me in line, but I was in and out in less than thirty minutes. To review and verify all of the info I submitted in the application, have a photo and fingerprints taken, and pay the fee, all took about ten minutes.

A redress number is a unique number you get if you happen to have the same name as someone who is on the U.S. watch list.

This is not my experience. I have had precheck for years, and have always had to take off my jacket, my belt, and my shoes. The precheck line at SeaTac is about as long as the other lines. Also they want my ereader in a separate bin. Because I have hearing aids, that is another step.

Are you sure you have precheck and not just Clear? I have had precheck for years as well and I have never had to take off or remove anything when going through security no matter which airport I go to.

WRONG tsa precheck accepts walk in applications and appointments. You do not only have to apply online. Please do your full research before making videos like this
