you can kinda see his evan hansen mannerisms when hes singing, like hes not even supposed to be in character but it just kinda clicks as soon as he gets on stage hes such a good actor
I love it, they are killing it and having an awesome time doing it. Ben is so amazing but this is the first time I have ever noticed the band having an equally awesome time playing. 💜☺️
I think it's a definite if Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 is not consider a new musical. If it is, Dear Evan Hansen, Pasek & Paul, and Ben Platt may have some stiff competition. Definitely nominations all around though!
Gabriel Tzukishiro It premiered in NYC off broadway and has been a headline in theater news for quite some time. This is the same thing that happened with Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Violet, both of which were considered revivals due to their history off-broadway
Diego M. Ramirez OK I just saw Dear Evan Hansen. No one is going to be able to come close to the performance Ben Platt is giving in that show. It is so raw, honest, and vulnerable. He is going to win, not a doubt in my mind.
I love that he tries to hold the mic with his left hand and has to goes back to holding it with his right hand and feigning there's a cast on his left arm again. Can't get out of channeling Evan.
Just saw Dear Evan Hansen last night. I walked in knowing zero about it (on purpose) and walked out stunned and completely blown away. I'll be shocked if it doesn't win a Best Musical Tony and Platt doesn't win Best Actor. One of the best scores I've heard in a long, long time in one of the best musicals I've seen in a long, long time. Uplifted one moment, laughing another and utterly heartbroken over and over again while watching it. I'm glad I didn't run out of tears because I needed them. So many memories of the pain of youth and high school came flooding back -- it really touches you deeply. "Waving Through A Window" just blows me away how good it is.
You can tell he’s nervous when he starts because of his quick “hello” and his small breath he took before the song then how stiff he is at the beginning but he is only comfortable when he takes the microphone off of the stand and starts acting like Evan even though he doesn’t have to and there’s a noticeable difference in his tone too
Evan Hansen is a really vocally demanding part but Ben Platt just nails it! He has an awesome range, and I have yet to watch one video where he seems to be having a hard time with either low or high notes. And of course, the pitch is always spot on.. I haven't seen the show since I don't live in the USA, so I can't really comment on the acting aside from the few videos available on youtube, but damn, he deserves that Tony just for the singing haha
Ben Platt is just so genuine. As an actor I hope I can do the same. And WOW those musicians were INTO it which of course just makes me love it even more.
This is so good because, while this song is amazing and he sings it perfectly, he can sing even better than this, but he adds a lot of the awkwardness of the character into the way he sings which is amazing
Funny to see how ben slowly faded away from normally singing as himself into fully becoming his character Evan by the time the second chorus has come with the posture change and the emphasised hand gestures. He literally can't help but become Evan when he sings this for the press etc. I think thats what makes every seperate performance of this song so good.
can i point out the fact that bens become an even stronger performer? like dayum i love this so fuvking much and if you listen to some more recent versions of this song, there's more passion and a lot stronger vocals. i dunno, it's just amazing to watch someone grow so quickly
excuse me the "hello" at the beginning was to die for and his outfit, oh god we don't deserve this man, also the band in the background is just killing it and ben is totally hunching over like evan in this song
Okay but why is everything about this video adorable? Ben’s hello and outfit, the band clearly LOVING what they’re doing and sharing smiles. I love this!
This musical blew me away. The message, the lighting, the music. Absolutely amazing. I know it's hard to get tickets, but I highly recommend you go to this show.
When ever I watch this video and see Ben and the band behind him and see just the love they all have for there show I remember why I love musical theatre so much
I have always though that Ben's face doesn't really suit the character, but man, no one will ever outlive his voice and just the emotions he is able to transmit with it.
Hannah Marie he played and focused on Evan so much that he even gained the trait from a fictional character, so he would look even more anxious especially singing the song from it
"Hello."
precious. already. he wasn't even singing yet
Exactly
0:18 is a replay
Mariel Jeilene Fabi I know right
My heart!
Ikr!!!
you can kinda see his evan hansen mannerisms when hes singing, like hes not even supposed to be in character but it just kinda clicks as soon as he gets on stage hes such a good actor
2:20 that look between the pianist and the drummer is the best feeling in the world cause they both know they are playing fire
I knoooooooooowwwwwwww not the point
Lee O'Reilly thank you for pointing that out. It's absolutely adorable.
Ooh! The band was killing it all the way through! How about the moment the bassist and piano player shared at 3:29- 3:35!
❤❤❤
Yey! Love these musicians 💙
I love it, they are killing it and having an awesome time doing it. Ben is so amazing but this is the first time I have ever noticed the band having an equally awesome time playing. 💜☺️
Wow, first time I've ever listened to a song 40 times in a row.
good music
Oh man, I've done that so many times it's not even funny xD
Yet I still laugh
:)
Don't judge me
Charlie Archelli
have you ever heard of hamilton?
OMG, HE IS IN FOR A SURPRISE IF HE HASN'T
This Charlotte Ok tbh deh might actually have just beaten hamilton for my favorite musical right now? I didn't know it was possible but...
His "hello" at the beginning was adorable 😂
It was so small and brief too. Poor baby was nervous
Ben Platt is going to sing this at next year's Tony Awards and he is going to win Best Actor in a Musical. One of the best shows I saw this season.
Hopefully, eh!
I really really hope so
#BenPlattfortheTony
I really hope so he deserves it , but Jake Gyllenhaal might take it. It would all be based on his celebrity status too.
Sunday in the Park has taken itself out of consideration.
The musicians are so passionate and I love it
Mostly because two of them are actually the writers/composers of that song (and of the rest of show, of course)... :)
Plot twist Evan Hansen looks really damn good in suspenders
3 years later and you’re still right
The guitarist in the white is SO happy!
*Bassist
I don't blame him lol
this was the best comment
bc he's like 4 feet away from ben platt
honestly all the musicians look really happy and into the song its cute
That piano man is JAMMIN! I want to be him.
He created this song, so I'm sure he's very proud of it.
He's boping to it
So is the drummer!
Like a million enthusiasm points to the pianist, he was just as fun to watch
Kaitlyn Albone ikr. He's Paul... you know... one of the writers of the musical and he looks like he's really enjoying it.
he's so perfect for the role
Watching the pianist is literally the best thing about this video. So much talent!
Thats because its Justin Paul (of Pasek & Paul), one of the writers of this amazing show!
Alana Boyles He just looks so excited it makes me happy 😂😂😂
corbsadorbs *THAT* would explain his passion...!!!!!
Fantastic performance by everyone. But the pianist had the best "choreography" for this.
Daniel C he is directing the pit with his back to the rest of them, which is quite a trick! He has it down! So fun!
I'm actually planning on singing this for a talent show! :D But then I realized something important: I'm not Ben Platt.
Maura Classified haha same
Maura Classified that's meeee
Sing it Ben would be proud
I bet you’ll do great tho
It’s OK just try your best!
that band is having the time of their lives and I'm here for it
Best Musical 2017, Best Actor in a Musical 2017, Best score 2017 and so so much more.

Cierra don't forget...Great Comet will and should give this a run for its money.
Andor tbh I think great comet has a stronger shot for leading actor and best musical
Diego M. Ramirez OK I just saw Dear Evan Hansen. No one is going to be able to come close to the performance Ben Platt is giving in that show. It is so raw, honest, and vulnerable. He is going to win, not a doubt in my mind.
The second best part after Ben's performance is that damn backing band. They are having the time of their lives and I'm loving it.
I love that he tries to hold the mic with his left hand and has to goes back to holding it with his right hand and feigning there's a cast on his left arm again. Can't get out of channeling Evan.

It won best musical! Ben platt also won a tony for best actor in a musical! :D All the awards!!
tbh I couldn't focus on Ben because the musicians in the back were so passionate they lowkey stole the show for me 😂
If he doesn't win a Tony I'm gonna be pissed
great comet is really really good i feel that'll win
Lee O'Reilly more than one musical can win a Tony...
i meant like josh in that
Lee O'Reilly well it's Josh Groban... of course it's incredible
Amandine De Simone Well you might finally get some friends with your cast.
I love watching people fall in love with Ben Platt❤️
The Nerder 2000 JESUS LOOK AT HIM. HE'S STEAMING HERE.
Ruby Rodriguez I KNOW
I love how into the music all the musicians are! And of course Ben is awesome too (as always). I can't wait to see this show again when it transfers.
Jaden Lowe I appreciate that you are proudly flying the Asexual Pride Flag in your avatar!!!!! Aces rock!!!!! LGBTQIAP people rock!!!!! :)
Asexual
Why isn't this musical getting enough attention??
This musical is a massive hit, what are you talking about???
MrAmazingMarcus Now it is
Valeria E Usually musicals don't make it big until the cast album is released. Reaches a wider audience
Yeah lol many musicals somehow become a great hit even after the actual show is closed... In the most random times
well now it's sold out for the next couple of months sooooo......
tHE LITTLE HELLO
I love how the musicians seem so excited when they play. Its nice to see people passionate of what there doing.
The "hello" at the beginning - my heart
ALL THE MUSICIANS ARE SO INTO THE SONG ITS SO CUTE 😭
Pianist is a legend
That's Justin Paul!
i screamed "awe" when he just said "hello" in the mic!!!!! he's so cute
I love how he was still in character a little for the performance.
He is the CUTEST
If this doesn't win Best Score in 2017 at the Tony's I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.
You can tell he’s nervous when he starts because of his quick “hello” and his small breath he took before the song then how stiff he is at the beginning but he is only comfortable when he takes the microphone off of the stand and starts acting like Evan even though he doesn’t have to and there’s a noticeable difference in his tone too
Ben is one the most consistent singers I know of. Every line is pretty much identical to the original. Good job Ben! Big fan of your work💙💙
Ben: hello
Me:
There's nothing like your smile
Sort of subtle and perfect and real
You never knew how wonderful
That smile could make someone feel
Love how he has his arm as if it's till in the cast.
The pianist and the bassist give me life.
"hello"
Ben Platt is simply amazing. Vocals and acting. He totally deserves to win the tonys
omg 4th time i'm listening to this song in the past half hour... so good... I love you Ben!!!!
I’ve literally listened to this song DOZENS of times in the last two weeks
Evan Hansen is a really vocally demanding part but Ben Platt just nails it! He has an awesome range, and I have yet to watch one video where he seems to be having a hard time with either low or high notes. And of course, the pitch is always spot on.. I haven't seen the show since I don't live in the USA, so I can't really comment on the acting aside from the few videos available on youtube, but damn, he deserves that Tony just for the singing haha
Just scrolling through my RUclips feed of recommendations and then I see Ben Platt in suspenders... I do not hesitate to click. Too cute to mute!! 😄😄
Damn though check out Paul on those ivories
he can't help but be Evan Hansen while singing, and it's so adorable
I know I'm super late to the party but I.CAN.NOT.
UGH. Ben platt is everything. Fight me.
Bless his kind soul. He's so sweet
BEN PLATT IS GENIUS!!!!!! i love him!
Someone give the pianist a prize, please! ❤️
We did! That's Justin Paul, the composer, who also won an Obie Award that night.
That makes me so happy! I'm very glad xD
Ben Platt is just so genuine. As an actor I hope I can do the same. And WOW those musicians were INTO it which of course just makes me love it even more.
I always go back to this live performance and I always admire the musicians having the time of their lives ❤
This is so good because, while this song is amazing and he sings it perfectly, he can sing even better than this, but he adds a lot of the awkwardness of the character into the way he sings which is amazing
This is just a happy environment they are all just rockin out and having a good time
IF BEN DOESNT GET A TONY THIS YEAR I WONT STOP TAPPING ON THE GLASS SADLY
this song means so much!!!

I've been re-watching this just to watch the musicians in the background. I love their energies.
A girl from my school danced to this song for our winter concert and I was wondering what song it was!
daryl's world what kind of dance did she do?
Watching the pianist made my day xD
This is one of the BEST musicals I've ever listened to. I really wanna see it!!
That little “Hello” was so freaking adorable! Ben is adorable. Love him. 🥰
wow the band is on fire!!!
Excellent show.... saw it today.. I was totally impressed all around - music, cast, story, stage design..... Highly recommend
Not only was the music perfect, but so were the attitudes of the musicians and BEN LOOKS SO HOT!!!
the pianist and the drummer and the bass players are having such a good time honestly
0:17 "Hello."
Ben, honey, you've already won me over :)
I absolutely love how much fun the musicians in the background are having through this whole performance
Can't wait to see this when I go to NYC next summer!!!!!!!
Can we just pause and talk about how into this the band was with this performance. ESPECIALLY the pianist. Like he was so into it
I’m obsessed with the musicians’ vibe
just watched for forever and now this and i'm still crying my eyes out!! 😭😭😭
excuse me the "hello" at the beginning was to die for and his outfit, oh god we don't deserve this man, also the band in the background is just killing it and ben is totally hunching over like evan in this song
This song is about my life ! HOW did they find the right way to put it into words.
Yes, Ben did amazing and he is amazing but can we just appreciate how into it the pianist got into the song. Freaking great
am i the only one that gets emotional every time they hear this song or
Geez, I love this song! Ben, Ben, Ben...you ARE your character. I could sing this all day, even though it makes me sad a tiny bit🥰 What a great show!
I love the pianist! He looks like really enjoying all of this. I can feel his passion.
The 2017 Tonys are tonight and I hope he wins a tony❤️ He so deserves it!!
Okay but why is everything about this video adorable? Ben’s hello and outfit, the band clearly LOVING what they’re doing and sharing smiles. I love this!
I treasure every moment I hear Ben Platt's voice
Oh my god this song is amazing
Incredibly talented young man. What a set of pipes!
This musical blew me away. The message, the lighting, the music. Absolutely amazing. I know it's hard to get tickets, but I highly recommend you go to this show.
ok ben looks so hot here
Lydia Mancuso isn't he always?
I'm sayin
he always does XD
Ok tea
When ever I watch this video and see Ben and the band behind him and see just the love they all have for there show I remember why I love musical theatre so much
The musicians got really into it, especially the pianist and guitarist in the back and I love it haha
This is the best thing I've seen all day
Justin Paul is always so into the song
i stan the cute lil thing he does where he closes his eyes to hit just the right note
I have always though that Ben's face doesn't really suit the character, but man, no one will ever outlive his voice and just the emotions he is able to transmit with it.
i love the party the musician are having behind ben
3:22 That glissando though. #pianist
One of the best versions of this song. So emotional!
The pianist is so good! ❤️
I don't think I've ever seen such a jolly band! Man, are they having fun! :D
Aww he seems nervous. But I love this song! 💜
He's nervous because it's his character, Evan Hansen. He is a high school student with no friends and takes anxiety medication.
He is being the character Evan Hansen, who has severe social anxiety
Hannah Marie he played and focused on Evan so much that he even gained the trait from a fictional character, so he would look even more anxious especially singing the song from it
This is so good, totally wanna cover it.
these 5 guys look like they're having the time of their lives omggggg
This guy is just so perfect!!! 😍💙
tag urself im the bass player having a tIME
PixelKidd I'm the pianist's enthusiasm
PixelKidd im ben's suspenders
PixelKidd I'm the part in Ben Platt's hair.
PixelKidd Can I be the smiley guitar guy??
PixelKidd im the microphone
