THIS is why drummers like me LOVED Clive Burr so much! Oh my goodness he is perfection here. So powerful and yet so simple and precise. The Clive era songs have never sounded the same since he left. I LOVE Nicko...but Clive was a once in a lifetime player with a feel and groove that has never been equaled! I miss you mate! This is heaven!
God bless Rod Smallwood for taking my film and transferring it properly so that the world could hear it and see it in his highest form.
Sharon Osbourne has a film I took from the exact same spot of Randy Rhoads in 1981 and she refused to transfer it by now that tape is already disintegrated and I don’t even think it could possibly even be saved to look as great as this looks! thank you iron maiden manager Rod Smallwood for preserving history for all of us Maiden fans! Bruce was the best singer ever!!! And I didn’t ask for any money for the film I gave it to them for free tickets to the show the film cost me $150 plus to have it developed which was another 50 bucks 200 and something. Great investment for mankind!
You couldn’t imagine what it was like to be there I was just concentrating on filming but it was unbelievable!
Should have kept the randy footage you got to wonder what other footage the bitch is hiding
I was in front of Dave Murry. Remember the blockbuster landing on stage right before they came out? Bruce ran out a started flipping out and everyone on the floor turned and looked up at the balcony. Whoever thru must have been scared shit. Thank you for filming. Did you film any of the Judas Priest shows? Thank you
Wow, Sharon is the devil for not saving rare randy Rhodes footage
Clive Burr is the best Heavy Metal Drummer ever. And my God Bruce´s voice. This lineup was unstoppable. Such a shame Clive left.
Clive was just an incredible drummer....always so steady and precise. It's always great to hear him play
I filmed this when I was 17 years old! Also filmed Ozzie, Motorhead Schenker and AC/DC.
I gave the film to iron maiden’s manager Rod Smallwood I’m glad to see that it probably was released
Seen Maiden many times and this was by far the best show
has any of your Ozzy footage ever shown up?
Iron maiden is always the best! Fantastic rendition of Children of ther Damned!
Wow Bruce 's vocals and persona as well as his energy is unmatchable when he first joined maiden ...he was born a super star ..it's like Harris hit the jackpot with him...Dickinson brought maiden to stellar heights that can never be repeated..when you hear "the number of the beast ","piece of mind" and "powerslave"....then there's no arguing why they are as massive as they are ...my full respect ...
12:38 Bruce!!! Best Vocalist ever. My God, so much power.
Amazing sound all around. Bruce with studio quality vocals. I know where I would have been on that night in 1982 \m/
I filmed this can you tell me more about it was it ever released by iron maiden?
I had gave him a copy of the master Super8 sound film to manager Rod Smallwood
@@a.romano6532 are these all the song's u recorded?
Amazing !! Just Amazing !
Clive was a great drummer , the unique sound of the Tama drums .... Thanks for sharing !
the greatest metal band in the wake of their prime...what a joy to hear...up the Irons!
Clive's style with Bruce's style : amazing. I don't understand the deep reason the band fired Clive. He was the man.
Actually, the truth of what happened behind Clive leaving Maiden has never been fully revealed. There are stories from most members of the band but mostly conflicted, Clive had also made different statements before his intimely death, while the music world has had more than its fair share of the rumour mill. The truth is we will probably never know what really happened, and perhaps should just remember the great man for who he was.
Bruce gave a resonable explication on his biography about that matter.
..soo much tighter with Clive!..almost unreal..😳👌
I was at that show!!!
Dude.. So was I! Great show.. Do you remember the massive fight at the end of the show between some fans and the security crew. All I remember is seeing a ton of red shirts of the security crew and about 30 fans going at it!
Still have the stub I think, the year was ripped off
Me too...sixth row. The Rods opened. Maiden's set got delayed because someone in the balcony threw an M-80 that hit their sound board and hurt one of their crew. The band was pissed. Then they came out and blew the roof off the joint. The place was just insane. Not just standing...not just standing on the seats...standing on the arms of the seats and everyone locking arms, so we wouldn't fall. Still rates as one of my all time best raw shows.
I was the guy that filmed it
I was at the show the next night at North staged in a theater the place was small and they couldn’t fit the staircase part of the stage😂😂 Absolutely memorable so this night at the Palladium this is the first American headline show for Bruce correct? If you compare the Judas Priest tour dates that makes this the first headline for Bruce interesting
I was in the front row lodge and I was 17 years old and I was a big fan of Samson so I knew all about Bruce this was his first time ever playing with iron maiden in New York City.
I think they got to the film and put soundboard tapes of that night to it because the sound sounds phenomenal I’m so proud of this
Thank you very much for that valuable contribution
Clive Burr was a monster drummer road warrior back in the day! I have this whole gig in a fansy pantsy vinyl and the quality of the sound is really good! Nice video and thank you!
Clive was SCREWED by Rod because Rod wanted HIS guy in the band and Steve went along with it. I will always and have always supported Maiden but Clive was my fave member and that is just one reason they always had fund raisers for Clive because they knew they screwed Clive.
@@ms.felonystrutter2472 apparently Clive wasn't performing up to the standard the band demanded during the end of the NOTB tour. Supposedly that is why he was replaced. There is video footage where Clive basically admits this........
@@vbassone How does this not means their standards? lol they're tripping Nicko is good but a slower drummer when he covers songs like Prowler and Phantom of the Opera it ain't the same
@@bbadam19 Hey, I am just telling you what the reason was that the band and management gave for replacing Clive Burr. I prefer Clive to Nicko by a lot; better drum SOUND and way better groove. Again, I think towards the later stages of the NOTB tour in 1982, Clive was having issues with drugs and alcohol and there were several performances where his playing suffered. He sounds great on this video and he sounded great for most of the NOTB tour. I think there were a bunch of concerts where management and the band felt Clive didn't play his best though because he was drunk or something. Too bad what happened because I thought the band sounded better with Clive as the drummer.
@@vbassone Yeah they were better with Clive Burr
Bruce voice is intact on this show, 22 Acacia Avenue is probably the best version played by the band
22 is from the reading 82 show
They never should’ve forced Clive Burr out of the band, he had a perfect sound & so much creativity: prisoner, another life, running free, wrathchild, ... & so many more. I wonder how much better Piece of mind & Powerslave would have been?
They never forced him
Lucy How do you know they didn’t force him to leave?
@@metalfordays Clive was fired my dear. Check Early Days dvd he said “I didnt want to leave”.
Mr. Harris gave him the boot. He wanted to give Bruce an early boot too but was smartly talked off that hill.
Wow. The sound is exeptionally good. And in sync as well, so not added at a later stage. Outstanding.
I saw this show at the north stage dinner theater in Glen Cove, New York. They couldn’t even fit the staircase in, but they were able to jam the lights in.
I saw them at Chicago Fest in 1981 or 82 Bruce was singing.
Bruce voice sounds better than any live i have watched, Burr's drumming flawless and powerful as always, thank you uploader!
Bruce was fresh from Samson! hot as a pistol!!
Excellent, always great to stumble across new to these eyes and ears, vintage Maiden. That said.....Adrian's Les Paul has always sounded less ferocious than his Ibanez Destroyer (or Hamer Standard) IMHO. YMMV.
Thank you very much for that valuable contribution
I was there also..... Saw them the year before in Jersey with Priest also on the World Wide Blitz tour..... And many more times after, too many to count.
Me too, same venue as this gig. Killers tour, with DiAnno singing. Priest was touring Point of Entry
Nice little treat!
Para mi La mejor voz del heavy metal bruce de esos tiempos antiguos
Fantástico!!!!
Even though this (ULTRA) RARE footage of 1982 show IS on RUclips, I'm GLAD I've got MY OWN on DVD!
Sounded just like this when they opened for, "The Scorpions."
This audio is fantastic, the video is kinda blurry but WTF ?????
Bear in mind, this was my first IRON MAIDEN Concert when they opened for the SCORPIONS. Peace of Mind, was the only album I owned. Almost this entire Concert was New music to me. I quickly went out and purchased The Number of the Beast within days of this Concert.
I have since then become an avid fan and friend to the Band. Much more to be revealed at a later date !!! \\mm// \\mm//
I think somehow iron maiden got to this film which I shot on a super eight sound camera and they looped it up with soundboard tapes that they had from that night, because the sound is phenomenal!! unless there was a way where they transfer the sound from my film but it didn’t sound that great I don’t think so?
I’m sure they taped that night!
What’s so memorable it is I saw them the next night at the north stage to the theater in Glen Cove New York they couldn’t fit the staircases😂😂😂
I was at this show.
Best of best
the chorus of Children is so great compare to Hammersmith DVD ! Wow...
CLIVE MUTHAFUNKIN BURR!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Rods opened up.
audio for 22 acacia ave is 100% from reading 82
***** The uploader of this video synced the radio broadcast audio to the film footage.
This show almost didn’t happen because some jerk in the audience hurled an M-80 at the stage and it blew up injuring one of the roadies.
I was there as well!!! Didn't Judas Priest open, if my old, feeble, Crestor affected memory serves me right?!
I think immediately following these shows Maiden jumped on is the opening band for the priest tour screaming for vengeance.
I thought it was saxon, but someone mentioned the rods which sounds right.
Maiden opened for Priest around this time, but I'm not sure this particular show belonged to the World Vengeance Tour
i believe a band named The Dogs opened up. they had a three headed dog for their logo if i'm not mistaken
didn't THe RODZ open up this show?
Is this the same show where Eddie came on stage and lost his balance and fell over? If so, is there any footage of that event?
this is from the (on stage) the prisioner bootleg cd?
Mike Litoris
I'm sure there are many bootlegs of this show floating around. The one I had back in the day was called "The Concert of the Beast."
Picture sucks but sounds great...
Needs Janick.
Steve had Nicko in his sights since a festival in 1979. When Maiden toured with Trust he obviously tapped up Nicko. Clive went the same way as Di'Anno did. Steve looking to make the band stronger. Steve used an excuses to get rid of Clive. I honestly think he made a massive mistake. Imagine how heavy Piece Of Mind would have been with Clive? As as drummer of over 40 years myself they go on about Nicko playing Where Eagles Dare. It's not complicated and a bit sloppy drum wise. Clive would have made it an Epic and more solid without a doubt. Imagine Revelations? I hate it when Non Drummers say Nicko is more technical. What a load of shite. Nicko is sloppy.
Clive burr was better drummer than nicko, clive was more powerful, precise, and more technical, his time was excellent. When listening to live concerts you can appreciate its forcefulness. Nicko what he did was follow the style of clive.Nicko was good drummer, but his arrival took power to the band. In studio and live. If Clive had continued in iron maiden certainly today would be a more powerful band. R.I.P
# L No, he wasn’t better, just different. Nicko’s play has air, so the music can breathe. I hate and find annoying Clive’s jerking style. And Nicko has personality and stage presence. Clive had not. For me he always been the weakest link of the band.
Clive Burr is faster and has more power to it when Nicko covers his stuff it's slower and the energy isn't the same
I was at this show.....up the irons...the beast destroyed New York
