I took the shied off because one of the lines was leaking. Was still under warranty but it was easier to fix it than take it back. I also put a valve on my main line that runs to the back of my shop. I shut it when done for the day. If I remember LOL
I'm thinking this is my same issue. Compressor will not kick on until tank is almost bled down to 0. Then will kick on but only fill the tank to ~50 psi, then stop. Do you think that's my problem?
i worked with pneumatic temperature controls for many years, I would recommend an auto drain on the tank and if you need dryer air an air dryer in the line to your shop. Great video.
So mine sounds like it has the same issue, I bought the lefoo and got it out together and realized that it's vertical and not a right angle anymore. What did you end up doing? I am at the point looking at copper tubing and replacing that copper line to fit the difference in the valve? I agree with you, I don't wanna spend $65 on a switch box of I dont have to? Do you know the thread or nut size for the copper line? Thanks so much
@@TheMessyStudio I really went in depth and I found what looks like the same replacement part I bought only it had the 90 for about $25 it was a husky brand so I'll let you know if it works it's supposed to come sometime tomorrow
@@TheMessyStudio so check it out. The reason that caused the mystery problem is a neutral line that went bad on the energy providers side, causing extremely low power and power swings. So I figured the motor was running twice as hard to try and compress and probably burnt it out
I've replaced my switch and the tank will refill when it wants too. By saying that I mean it will fill up and you can drain it and it doesn't refill, I did take it off an extension cord which I found out wasn't good for it. Brought it to directly to the outlet and it started filling up and shut off. I drained it again and now nothing. Any ideas????
Sounds like you may have gotten a bad switch. Have you drained the water out of the tank using the bottom valve? If there is water in the tank, it could be what took the switch out in the first place. That's what happened to mine. Which is why I added the inline filter. It doesn't seem to make as much water now, but you still need to drain it every month or so.
I had the same problem. I got a POS Craftsman 26gal 150psi. I replaced the pressure switch and it's still won't kick back on at 110psi (where I set it). System has to completely drain before the motor will actually kick on. Going to get a different regulator value (one without a damn strator on it). As for drying the system, I set up a copper coil line directly from the motorhead. It runs through a universal transmission cooler (car fan hooked up to a transformer) and then through a dryer before going to the tank. Air goes into tank around 78 degrees, and little water now.
That sounds like it could be the start capacitor on the motor (if it has one). If it has brushes, they may be worn... I'm really not sure. Sorry I couldn't be more help!
I have the same unit. It stopped compressing 32 days after the 3 year warrsnty.. kobalt would not help. They said too bad nothing they could do.. so why repkace it eith another kobalt i ask ?? Screw em ..32 days. Biggie woo .
Guess what I'm doing? Watching all your videos, they are awesome and so informative! Thanks for being such a great teacher!
Awesome! Thank you, Robin!

Cool video Billy! Now we know how to fix one of these if we ever have to. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Robin! I try.

Great video Billy. I have that same air compressor. Well worth fixing and well explained.
Take care.
Gary
Thank you, Gary! I thought so too. I was a little apprehensive at first, but it was actually fairly easy.

Have a good day Billy you got this

We’re did you find the pressure switch I’m having the same issue
I got this one: amzn.to/3ziebbO
Billy
Thanks for asking. I was hoping someone asked since I didn’t see the part listed in the description

Sounds as likely as anything else. They build these compressors to be throw away items. And that's what most people do when they malfunction.
So u reused the unloader valve from the old part?
Yes. I didn't want to have to try and reroute the copper tubing.
ok thank u so much. We have this compressor at my barber shop and need to replace this part as well. , so ur video really helps!

I took the release valve off of the old pressure switch and used it on the new one. It worked fine.

@Billy Burt (The Messy Studio) it's actually the exact same unit you have
It’s is your capacitor. It’s under the black round cover right next to the electric motor.
@napieraustin I will try to look at it this weekend can you recommend a part number and where to buy a new 1
